My Digital Studio Quilt!

I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am for my project today!!  Do you ever get an idea in your head that you just HAVE to make?  Well, I had this huge urge when I saw the new downloads that SU came out with on Tuesday.  The Halloween bundle just screamed fun to me!

I wanted to make a pillow....a pillow with a raven on it!  Wouldn't that be spooktacular?  I think so!  Well, it didn't stop there...I thought it would be super fun to make a quilt!  So that's what happened on Tuesday...into the very wee hours!  

So, you may wonder how I created this quilt.  I went into MDS, and selected an 8 1/2 x 11 scrapbook page.  I then used the Vintage Overlays, Spooky Stamps (included in the new download) and the new Halloween DSP (again, the new download) to create a variety of images.  I then printed these images onto iron on transfers.  After transferring them, I created different sized quilt blocks and made this little Halloween rag quilt.  In making this quilt though...I learned a few things:

1. Don't iron directly on top of an already transferred image
2. Iron on a HARD surface like a granite counter top, not an ironing board
3. Set your iron to the hottest setting
4. Don't iron directly on top of an already transferred image (did I already mention this...cause it took me three times to remember this one:)
5. Push HARD on the iron when ironing the images on your fabric
6. Peel off the transfer paper before it cools completely, but let it cool a bit before you peel

My entrance way....

You guys are way too sweet!!!  I appreciate all the kind words and emails about my Halloween "stuff".  I don't have my house completely done by any stretch but I am thrilled with what is out so far.  I have included a few photos today on my site of my front entrance way.  You'll recognize a lot of the items as they are photos and videos that I have done over the past month or so.  Now you can see how my Perfect Plum, Old Olive and Basic Black have all come together.  I will take more photos of my other rooms down the road.

The one thing you haven't seen before are my homemade curtains.  Thank goodness my Grandma doesn't check out my blog as she is an AMAZING seamstress and would be disgusted with my sewing, but I wanted to make up a little curtain for my front window using the Big Shot.  So, I used the small pennant, on the pennant die and cut it out of three different fabrics.  I sewed these all together and then using sticky strip (I know....I couldn't sew the whole thing!) I attached the scallops to the curtain.  Then I used some of the pop up glue dots, linen thread and the Playground Old Olive buttons in the middle of each scallop.  I just think it turned out so cute and can't wait to make one for every season (maybe my sewing will improve over time:)

Plus in this room I have my picture frame with the Brocade Bat vinyl and the UNWelcome sign (it's tough to get a good photo of the whole area as it is such a small space.  Thanks so much for stopping by!!!  See you again tomorrow!

Mark's Door

I think I was telling you a week or two ago about how vinyl crazy I have become!  I love it!  It's a quick and easy "fix" or "freshen up" for a space.  Mark really wanted his name on his door so I surprised him with this skateboarder and his name.  The skateboarder is the large SU vinyl and then his name I cut out of the Basic Gray raw vinyl from SU.  It's tough to see the difference in the photo but you can see the difference between the black and the gray when you're looking at it.  Mark was so excited about this (as was I!)

Explain my logic....

Okay, so as I said in my little update, our house is being renovated as we speak!  It's a little crazy but fun none the less.  So on Thursday, the garbage bin was delivered.  Now rather than prepping or packing up the kitchen....what do I do????  I put vinyl on my entrance way walls!!!!  Seriously, what am I thinking!  BUT, hey, I love it and I think it really adds.  I'm sorry the photo isn't a bit better, however, it's a very small space so getting a full shot was tough.  I really like the flexibility of vinyl.  I placed the vinyl on so it wraps around the corner of the entrance.  Hope you like it and off to work I go:)  Have a wonderful night!

Stampin' Classroom!

As promised earlier in the week, I've bog pictures of my Stampin' Classroom (AKA old dining room)  I have totally converted this room now into a classroom and just LOVE it!  I switch it up each season in home decor, scrapbooking and samples.  Today's photos are of the scrapbooking wall.  I have three frames that I scrapbook each season and try to link it to vinyl for part of my home decor.  I decided to go with "winter" for this part of the year rather than Valentines, since winter will last longer!

The snowflakes were done with the Big Shot, Sizzix Dies and "raw" vinyl.  The pages are in Chocolate Chip, Real Red and Kraft.  I like to have my pages "match" my colour theme and each other.  These ones are very similar while other times my pages can be quite different but in the same colour choices. 

I hope you like it!  I am just working on decorating up my IKEA tree and will show photos of these sometime soon!  OK, gotta run and get ready for my open house tomorrow!

Home Decor and Make your own Vinyl!

Did you know that Stampin' Up! carries "raw" vinyl.  I call it raw vinyl just because it is sheets of vinyl that you can create your own home decor with.  Well, I have to admit, I bought mine FOREVER ago and didn't touch it until this past weekend!  And this has got to be one of the most recently exciting things for me!  I LOVE IT!!!!  It is SO easy and looks SO fun!!!!!  Now, you need a Big Shot (or a Cuttlebug will work) and some dies.  I used the super sweet snowflake sizzlits and the bigger snowflake die from Stampin' Up!  They are ADORABLE!  The vinyl actually can be cut by a sizzlit as well!!!  I am just freaking out about all the possibilities!!!  The vinyl comes in White, Kraft, Gray and Chocolate (I'm pretty sure) BUT check back later this week to learn something else about this FUN product!

Ok, so I know today's photo isn't that exciting.....but it is!!!!  I will have photos up later to show you what my stamping classroom looks like for my Winter theme (just need to finish off one more scrapbook page)

In the meantime, here's a video on using the vinyl.  I'm toying with the idea of doing monthly home decor club!  What do you think of this idea?
