Stamp with Heather

BOO ... did I scare you?

My goodness!  What a whirlwind of a week it's been!  We had the BEST family holiday last week at the cottage (despite the rain:) to come home to lots to do!  Some great, some not so (like my taxes I'm being audited for....UGH...almost done though, I should really be more organized!)  I had a super fun class on Monday night (thanks ladies for a spooktacular night!)  And then last night I had a workshop with Jill and friends which was wonderful!  It was great to see some old faces as well as new!  LOVE workshops!  Speaking of which I'm booking my holiday fun workshops if you're interested in a fun night of crafting, Christmas and friendship!

On the holiday note, this is a card I made using my all time favourite Halloween stamp set.....SO STINKIN cute....Googly Ghouls.  The stamping is pretty simple...just stamped in Staz On ink, dragged the Very Vanilla cardstock through the ink and attached the googlie eyes (that have adhesive on the back...yippee for that one!)

The background was just made with strips of paper in Elegant Eggplant with the Chevron folder, Wisteria Wonder textured cardstock, Old Olive and Lucky Limeade with the Houndstooth folder.

The other "new" element on the card is the alphabet at the top.  I LOVE the size of this alphabet!  It's perfect for cards and even scrapbook pages....a bit smaller than the last Big Shot alphabet.

It's not new....but I love it still!!!

Yes, I know this is last year's Ronald McDonald House stamp set BUT I am loving the layout and think so many of the stamp sets Stampin' Up! carries would work with this card.

AND if you're not a red, orange, yellow kindof a stamper, this will work with so many colour combinations.  What about Pacific Point, Rich Razzleberry and Tempting Turquoise?  Or....Pool Party, Soft Suede and Summer Starfruit....oh, that might be my pick!!!

ANYHOW, hope you like this card!  As I'm sure you guessed there was no beach yesterday....just lots of rain!  We did end up at Fleetway 40 which was lots of fun!  Today is football for Mark, rain or shine!  I hope you have a wonderful day!

Grunge Rock

Good Morning!  What a beautiful day we are having here!  The sun is out, the temperature is wonderful and I'm sitting out in the back enjoying my morning cup of coffee while the boys play!  How is it that they are already filthy and it's only 7:30 in the morning?

I just wanted to let you know that I think I've fixed my comment section on my blog.  Many of you kindly were asking why you couldn't leave a comment easily, but I think it's fixed and back to that standard.  My blog was getting hit hard with spam comments so I was trying to avoid them as the links that were being put on my site were not ones I would recommend or like any of my kids/friends to follow:)

OK, so onto today's card.  I am going to miss this stamp set...Grunge Rock....actually I won't be getting rid of mine as I love it too much....same with Extreme Elements!  It's a little hard to se in this picture, but I did the double stamping on the splat behind the guitar.  I stamped it first in Whisper White and then using my stamp-a-ma-jig I offset the splat slightly and restamped in Pool Party.  It really makes it pop and look 3 dimensional!  Thanks Tina for teaching me this!

A Pinterest Case

Happy Wednesday!  Well, we are still going strong here at Disney!  I have to say I was super excited about the thought of early nights and snuggles with Nathan, but he won't stop!!!  He is having the time of his life and I am too!

Well, today's card is a complete case from Pinterest.  I fell in love with this card and knew I "had" to make it!  

It's as simple as a 1 3/4 x 4 inch piece of DSP with two corners rounded.  Then I used the embosslit for the butterflies in Bashful Blue and Certainly Celery.

The ribbon is Bashful Blue Satin (that is retiring), a neutral button, some bakers twine and bling!  Easy peasy...seriously, go make a million, it won't take you long!

Another smooch?

Ha ha!  It's amazing how I make myself laugh sometimes over the silliest things...must be my mood today!  It's club day!!!  WHOO HOO!!!  Love club day....I have my lovely afternoon crew and my night crew, should be a ton of fun!  

So....the card today.  This was a case (and I'm sorry I don't remember where I saw the idea....please let me know if you know!)

I love the rounded corner pieces on this card....it really makes the images pop!  This card truly has very little dimension (for the exception of the bow) yet, I feel the rounded corners say, "HELLO!"   This card uses the Summer Smooches DSP and matching stamp set.  I've stamped in Lucky Limeade and Island Indigo (Yummy!)  I hope you like today's simple card, a great one to start the week off with:)  Have a GREAT day and I will see you again soon!!!!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

You're Invited....

Happy Mid Week!  I miss using this stamp set...why don't I dust it off more often?  That I can't answer, but I'm sure glad that I pulled it out for today:)

The other thing I've been LOVING lately is the Domestic Goddess paper!  I know I've said this since the catalogue was released but I've really been using it a lot lately and love it!  I really do, so much so that I think I should do a class with it....any takers if I do!?!?!

Well, I think that this set lends itself well to an invitation!  I think I will send this out to an "old" (not age!) friend for an afternoon together!  I really should do that more often!  

I have had a few of you ask me before how often I sew on cards.  Well, my answer to that is "when I feel like it".  I know that's snarky, but I suppose it's when I'm stamping not for a class and when the urge hits. I've been enjoying my sewing maching lately and really do love the look of it on a card.

Well, enough of my babbling on today, things to do, right?  Lunches, Grandma day and prep for my class!  Can't wait!

HB Brady!

I have ONE very excited boy on my hands!  He could care less that school starts tomorrow (or that I have to pack lunches:)  He only cares that tomorrow he is FIVE!!!!  

He had the great experience of going to a friend party yesterday afternoon (yes, his name is Brady) and this is the card we literally had to whip up as we were heading out the door!  I had Nathan die cutting the letters (then he wanted them embossed) while I sewed on the DSP, inserted brads and voila!  I know, roll your eyes....you never believe me when I say quick, but it was...just like today's post!  Gotta go make cupcakes with Nathan to take to school tomorrow and get his "real" birthday cake made.  Oh, did I mention his "real" party is Friday night (the one that "counts"...his words...his friend party!)  Oh, to be five again!  Have a great day!

It's a Boy!

Good morning to you!  Well, as I'm sure most of you can guess I LOVE BABIES!  As much as I am past wanting anymore of my own, they are sure fun to have around!  A good friend of mine just had her second little guy so I had to make her a card of course (now can I get it mailed???)

I was originally going to add a button on the card as well on the little owl border, but I couldn't do it!  I couldn't cover up those sweet little chubsters!  So I added the ribbon and clip on the top instead!

In the past eight plus years of being a demonstrator, I've learned to stop hoarding things and also to "move on" when things retire with Stampin' Up!  BUT one thing I always wish I had was the old hand print stamp set.....but am I ever glad I waited as I love this set (and won't be parting with it!!!!)  It's adorable and in the spring mini which means it's only available until the end of April...so act fast....contact your demonstrator!!!!  (do you see the matching foot prints!?!!)

Thoughts of You

Thanks for all the sweet messages for Emma yesterday.  She is feeling a little better but sure is tuckered out.  No one likes being sick...but I'd say she enjoyed being home and sleeping....let me be honest, I would love that too!  She's home agian today and I'm hoping for a better day for her:)

Onto today's card....it's a "grown up" one:)  Funny that I use the term grown up when referring to a "vintage" card.  I hadn't pulled out the stamp set BFF for a while so thougth it was time!

I love the vanilla butterfly that is cut out first in the doily sizzlit die then in the butterfly die...fun, eh?  I didn't ever notice this in the mini catalogue, but my friend Laura pointed it out and I fell in love with the beauty of it!  I hope you like it too!

Alrighty, enough about this, I know you came to see a crafty creation...I hope:)  This super fun creation is called a box card and my downline Mitzi taught me this (thanks Mitzi!)  I LOVE this concept as have everyone in my class!  The base of the card uses a full 8 1/2 x 11 inch piece of card stock.  I scord it at 1 1/2 and 7 in the "long" direction and then 2 1/2, 4,  and 8 1/2 in the other direction.  Cut off the corners (all four rectangles that measure 1 1/2 x 2).  Then make the 1 1/2 inch squares into a tab and create a box.  Decorate however you see fit.  Then, "smoosh" the box down so it folds flat and voila...a box card!  For a video check out THIS (thanks Mitzi for this link to Valita).  Hope you like this idea!

And of course it couldn't be more fun since I used the AWESOME Sweet Shop ensemble!  LOVE IT!!!!  I love how fresh the colours are and how happy it makes me!

Same Layout....Different Card

Thanks so much for all the fun comments on the card using Everyday Enchantment the other day.  I loved the layout so wanted to recreate it using another clour scheme and theme!  So here goes:

• Whisper White - 1 1/4 inch circles

This card came together in just minutes and is so super fun and bright!  It's perfect for anyone on their special day!

Congratulations!

Mid week already!  I am just so excited about this year's SAB that I can't stop creating with it!  I LOVE the DSP the most, then the brads, and the stamps....I can't pick!  I really am a happy stamper!  I needed a "man" card and came up with this one for a Leadership board card that I had to create.  I made a bunch of extras of this so I could have them on hand.

I don't tend to make a lot of congratulations card and am always stuck when I need one.  So, I've now got a few in my stash:)

The fun part of this card is the stitching as well...I love pulling out my sewing machine for cards!

Well, hate to keep this short, but I've gotta run, it's a busy day today!

Hello Hello Hello

Boy am I tired!  Ever have those mornings that just come out of no where....you know you think you have 8 hours left to sleep but there you are at 6 am ready for the day (or not ready in my case:)

I love today's card!  It truly makes me happy, I think it's the simplicity and crispness that white does to a card!

This card uses Pool Party, Cherry Cobbler and More Mustard....fun colour combination....try it!  

I stamped the greeting three times (once in each colour-stamp is from Elementary Elegance).  Then the "sky" is dry embossed with the houndstooth embossing folder.  The clouds are also embossed to add a little more pop to the card.

The only "tricky" part on this card was gluing down the Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine.

celebrate YOU

Morning!  I can't stress enough how happy this year's In Colours make me. I am so excited that they are around for 2 years!  Don't they just pop and scream FUN?  Whenever I look at them (especially together) they just make me smile..yes, I am that simple of a person...colour makes me happy!

I think that Pool Party is still my favourite In Colour, but Calypso Coral truly is a VERY close second!  The Designer Series Paper in the mini (forget the name right now) that is a birthday theme is AMAZING and I just love that texture is incorporated into the paper as well...these hearts pop up!  YUM!

I saw this idea of creating the ground and sky then running it through an embossing folder on non other than Pinterest...I didn't pin the photo and of course now can't find it!  So sorry!

Anyhow, today's post is a quick one for you as it's a busy day around here!  I hope your day is as great as you are!

Elementary Elegance

Happy top of the morning to you!  Are you loving this year's Sale-a-bration treats? I want to say that they are the best yet (in my opinion!)  I think this Designer Series Pape, Enchantment, is beautiful!  I love the colour combinations, the elegance, the rustic edge and the versatility.  You really can use the paper for man cards too (remember there are two sides to every page:)

I had fun creating this birthday card.  It truly is very simple, although the accordian lolli makes it lok a little more challenging than it is!  I used a Calypso Coral card with a layer of Soft Suede.  Then of course the DSP is on top of this.  I did use a strip of the neutrals Soft Suede DSP on the strip on the card front.

The sweet greeting and butterfly are from the stamp set Elementary Elegance.  I used a little bit of sponging and pearls to add some "pop" and then the little crown to just top it off!

Love you, hybrid card

Tuesday...you know what that means!  MDS download day!  So excited to head over and check out what Stampin' Up! has for us today!  CLICK HERE to see.

I thought for today I'd share a hybrid card that I made.  We actually did this card with my Grandma and her friends earlier this month at her retirement home.  The original idea for this card I is from Pinterest (I'm sorry I don't have the link to the original creator...it was a link to a photo site, so if you know the "inspirer" please let me know!)

The "lve" and "you" I typed up in MDS and then simply printed it onto Whisper White card stock.  The "o" is done by punching the small heart from Cherry Cobbler paper FIRST then punching a 3/4 inch circel around the punched out heart.  EASY PEASY, eh?  Are you loving the Baker's Twine?  I sure am!  I LOVE that we carry it now in all the In Colours, it just helps to make the project pop, don't you think?

Looking for Quick and Simple?

This could be your solution!  This Sale-a-bration set lends itself well to quick and simple!  You could pick any of the greeting and any colour combintation and whip this card up in no time!  I do like that I used the same number of pennants as letters in the word celebrate...silly I know!

Again, inspired by the Brights!  I just used the tip of my pennant punch and punched out one of each colour.  I attached them to the card front using Tombow Glue on the top edge but not the bottom so I could flare them up a bit.  The "celebrate" is stamped in StazOn and then coloured in with the Brights markers.  I created the card front on Whisper White and then mounted it onto a Whisper White card!  

Fun, clean, simple and quick!  Who can ask for more??  Thanks for stopping by!  Enjoy your day!

Elementary Elegance

Hola!  It's the weekend and can you believe we don't seem to have too much on the agenda (yet!)  I'm sure it will get busy but a few more hours in my jammies will be wonderful!

This stamp set from Sale-a-bration was NOT top of my list but boy am I glad I've stepped out of my comfort zone!  I LOVE this set!  It's BEAUTIFUL!

I used Crumb Cake (sponged with Crumb Cake) some Early Espresso and Pool Party on this card!

Can you see the other new product...the jumbo pearls....I haven't used them yet and I love them!  They won't take away from the little pearls, but on the right card they sure offer the wow factor!

I wish we carried the pleated ribbon in Crumb Cake, although it's fun to pleat your own ribbon with sticky strip and ribbon.

Dare to Dream

What a great statement....Dare to Dream!  Maybe that should be my motto for my downline meeting tonight....Dare to Dream...why not!

I am super excited for my team event tonight!  It feels like forever since I've seen so many of my "Stars" so tonight will be a ton of fun!  I can't wait to share our Leadership experience with my team and have some fun!

In the meantime, this card was fun to stamp...I was inspired by the Brights collection again....maybe it's the sunshine that's putting me in the Brights mood!  I loved pairing the stamped images with the buttons....quick, simple and sweet!  What do you think?

YAY!  What a great little getaway I had...thank you Stampin' Up! for always stepping it up and providing us with amazing training, events and fun!  Leadership was no exception and I learned a ton and am so excited to share with YOU my customers and friends and downline!  I can't wait!

It's the Twitterpatted DSP again!  I know...beautiful!  This card uses Lucky Limeade, Pool Party and Whisper White.  It's a very soft colour combination and I think it just pops!

Aren't the words beautiful on this card...it's a new stamp set in the mini catalogue.  I love that they can be prettied up, or used on a simple card!  I think you'll agree:)

Sale-a-bration Stamp Set

Hello from San Antonio!  Actually, I may be mid flight as you are reading this as I'm heading home today!  Usually we stay for an extra day when we are at a stamping event, but this year I decided to get home and spend some time with my family this weekend!  It's always crazy busy when I get home on a Sunday so I wanted to get home and spend a great family day with them tomorrow instead:)

Leadership Make and Takes

WOW!  Last night's Manager's Reception was amazing!  We watched the Chinese Acrobats of Hebei last night after a nice "meet and greet" social event!  It was WONDERFUL to connect with friends and even make some new friends at this event!  I will be sharing photos in an MDS page sooner than later:)

In the meantime....we sure are getting a fun package of supplies for our Leadership Make and Takes this year!  I will of course share with you the projects we will be making BUT I got to make some fun projects using the supplies and putting my own twist to them!  As an Artisan winner I got a fun box of goodies back in November to create some projects for the display boards!  I hope you like what I have to share wtih you over the next few weeks!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the colours in this Designer Series Paper selection!  Isn't it beautiful?  The colours are so soft and feminine and they just make me happy!

The flowers are die cuts that layered so nicely on top of one another.  I did "crinkle" them together to make them pop a little more, although not necessary!

Here is a brinf summary of the supplies:

It's BEAUTIFUL....San Antonio is what I'm talking about!  We had a blast yesterday (even on the plane ride:)  I'll fill you in with details and photos so I don't make you read it twice!  Just know we are here safe and sound and looking forward to a great three day Stampin' Up! event.  Today we have make and takes and then the Managers Reception tonight!  Can't wait!!!

In the meantime I thought I'd share a sweet and quick little card that came together SUPER fast!  Here is a supply list:

I can see making a TON of these for Valentine's Day even as a bag topper (or sider....that might be neat to put a cello bag to the right of the image) with some Oreo Truffles in it for the teachers at school maybe...obviously will switch up the greeting though:)  What do you think?

Twitterpatted Designer Series Paper...LOVE IT!

It's an exciting day today!  I'm on my way to San Antonio with some of my closest friends!  Stampin' Up!'s Leadership starts tomorrow and we are going to have so much fun!  Today we'll arrive just after lunch so we'll have the afternoon to explore..not to worry I've packed my camera and I'll be sharing!!!  If you have any recommendations for either restaurants or things to do in San Antonio right downtown (at the Convention Center) I'd LOVE any suggestions you may have!

In the meantime, this card was completely inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest made by Amanda Mertz.  I switched up the card colours but the layout is the same. 

My colour combination is Soft Suede, Island Indigo and Cherry Cobbler (with a splash of Pool Party).  The DSP is called Twitterpatted and is in the current mini catalogue...it's BEAUTIFUL!  You will love it!  I love that I can use a few of the patterns as well for "man cards".  

The other elements on this card are jewelry tags in the library clip....love it!  The bow is two pieces of Cherry Cobbler tied together and then glue dotted on the back of the clip.  The edge of the card is dry embossed using the Simply Scored tool as well.

Patterned Party

Good morning to you!  I had a "card emergency" here this past week!  At Christmas I always give away a ton of cards to family in friends in little card packs as just a little something special!  Well, I must have given away EVERY birthday card I owned so this past week I had to get some birthday cards together and here's one of them!  (It's also the card we did at the Strathroy club....thanks again ladies for a fun night!!!)  

The base of this card is River Rock...not a colour I use very often, but I should!  I used the "man" DSP that I just love to man up the card a bit.  I like all the little layers on this card (again inspired by my friend Carrie Gaskin over at Artistic Avenger).  I used the stamp set Patterned Party on this card.  The pattern strip at the top is stamped in River Rock.  The next layer is the new dry embossing folder (hearts) from the mini catalogue.  Love this idea of being able to put it in the middle of my card!)  Then the paper is pleated and sewn.  Lastly, the strip of DSP on the bottom is torn and just offers a little "base" or "grounding" for the card.

I stamped the image in Early Espresso on the Very Vanilla layer.  Then on scrap paper I stamped the balloons in Cajun Craze, Not Quite Navy and River Rock.  Then I cut them out and mounted them (some are popped up).  The edge of the Very Vanilla layer is scalloped with the Decorative Label Punch (which of course matches the Cajun Craze Decorative Label underneath the Vanilla layer.)  I sponged the layers with Early Espresso just to "man" it up a little.  

For the greeting I stamped the pattern strip on the banner in River Rock and the greeting is in Cajun Craze.  And that's it....a "manly" birthday card.  Hope you like it!  Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you have a wonderful Sunday!

Well good morning to you!  I hope your week is going amazingly well!  I'm sure it is!  I'm super excited for my Tea for Two class tonight...first "class" of the New Year and should be so much fun!

So, are you still loving me?  Are you getting sick of this set, because I'm not!  I LOVE IT!!!  Even more than this set, I am loving all the embellishments from this mini catalogue...check out the strip of embossed hearts....SO CUTE!!!!

The bottom of the card is created using the wheel in the mini catalogue, the hearts on the circles are stamped in Early Espresso.  This card truly is simple to put together....to simplify it you can use your pokey doodle (paper piercer) and mat pack with a gel pen.  That would make the card doable anywhere!  The sewing is just an fun "step up".

Gnome Peeking

Gnome peeking today on this amazing Wednesday morning:)  I have to admit that this wasn't a MUST from the new mini, but I am so happy to have it!  Check out the little "gnome dude", he is ADORABLE!!!  I was in a colouring mood the other day and this is the perfect set to satisfy that need:)

Check out the adorable little buttons...aren't they sweet!?!?!  They are from the mini adn they come in Baja Breeze and Blushing Bride.  I stamped the images in Staz On ink on watercolour paper and then coloured it in using a wide variety of markers.

The card is done on Pear Pizazz with Old Olive.  The DSP is NEW from the mini (LOVE it!) and then the Baja Breeze ribbon is just laid on top of the layers....fun, hey!

Well, sorry for the quick post but off to get things done today...maybe the final Christmas stuff will get put away today (and then again, maybe not....)  I hope you have a WONDERFUL day!

Off to a great start and another trip to the Tea Shoppe

Good morning to you!  Well, we've survived our trip to Toronto (we headed there for the weekend), laundry is caught up, house is clean (er) and the kids had a great start to their school week!  YAY!!!!  AND to top it off, guess what today is???  It's MDS download Tuesday, don't forget!  Check them out HERE....

In the meantime, here is today's card!  I LOVE the tone on tone in this card using the Very Vanilla.  The doily in the background is a NEW sizzlit that is ever so delicate and beautiful!  I'll admit it did take a little while to poke out all the little pieces an details but it was worth it (yes, that's coming from me...the LAZY stamper!!!)  I only used a little more than half of this doily on the card.  The bottom piece of Very Vanilla is a strip of card stock dry embossed in the Brocade foler (I think).  

The card is Riding Hood Red, Soft Suede and Very Vanilla (with a splash of Calypso Coral).  I stamped the cups in the three ink colours and cut them out.  The bottom two tea cups are popped out with dimensionals.  I'm excited to share a video with you on how I've been using the ruffled ribbon and attaching it to my card fronts.

Tea Shoppe Take Two

OH NO!!!  Only one more day of Christmas vacation!  I have had a wonderful two weeks with my family but am so ready for some routine back in our lives!  I really enjoyed having this extra week after Christmas this year, we had some nice down time!  (including some stamping time for me:)

So onto today's card...Tea Shoppe Take Two!  I am having so much fun with this set and the Designer Series Paper...it's FREE from Sale-a-bration this year!  Are you loving it!?!?!  You'll get more sneak peeks soon, not to worry!

In the meantime, let me tell you a little more about this card.  It uses the scallop circle punch as the base of the card in Soft Suede.  The circle is done with the clear circle die in the new Sale-a-bration Designer Series Paper.  The tea cups are all one stamp but I cut them out and mounted them on the 1 1/4 inch circles (sponged with Soft Suede).  This is another one of the cards we're making on Thursday at my Tea Shoppe class...hope you like it!!!!  I've got a couple of spots left if you're interested:)

How sweet is the greeting on this card?  "I love the "u" in us."  How sweet!?!?!  I love that and this greeting made me want the set...crazy, I know!

This card uses the stamp set, PS I Love You, the new Riding Hood Red Pleated Ribbon (so yummy!), a new wheel and some basic colours.  This card truly is simple and clean and I love it!  I got the idea from a card on Pinterest, and have "Stampin' Upped" it:)  I hope you like it!!!

A Manly Card for you

I fell in LOVE with a new word set you will see SOON in the upcoming mini.  I'm not sure what sold me on it, but I love the fonts, and the graphics that go with it.  I also like the "a la carte" stamps in the mini....lots of images which equates to lots of fun!

This card uses the "manly" DSP that I'm not really sure I've used but was excited about as soon as the catalogue was released back in July.

I thought this card would be cute as a "just because" card for Adam from one of the kids.  I wish I had more of these on hand and that I used them more often...so this is a good start, right?

Well, I hope you're week is off to a good start!  I must say the kids are pretty excited about the "white fluffy stuff" on the ground!  I think it'll be an outside day today, can't wait!

Another Kite Card

Today's agenda...relax, clean, nap, clean and maybe get dressed:)  What a life, eh?  We had a fun weekend, but busy:)

This card was fun to put together...quick and cute.  The card base is Blushing Bride (4 x 8) and then some NEW DSP (4 x 1), the decorative label punch in Crumb Cake, the greeting on a postage stamp punch and the clouds are from the cupcake punch.  Check out the new buttons too....cute, eh?  This card is jam packed with some NEW product!  It's a "simple" and fun card but full of details:)

Happy 2012!

WOW, can you believe it!?!?!  It's 2012!  Well, we had a fun night of family and games.  A house full (16), LOTS of food, games (euchre, Risk, Just Dance 3 - yes, I rocked this one!, and so much more!)  We've got family here until Monday so it should be another fun day!

I thought this card would be an appropriate way to start off the year....love you!  What a great concept!  Let's hope this upcoming year is full of love and friendship!  Sounds like a great goal to me!

Boxing Day Already!

Where did Christmas Eve and Christmas Day go????  What I truly love about this season is that our family is so blessed to have lots of family to celebrate with and today is no exception!  I will share pictures of our celebrations soon, but in the meantime I've got another meal to prep:)  We had Adam's family here yesterday which was SO much fun!  I am lucky to have such a great extended family, the kids get along great and it was such a relaxing day!  Today we have my step mom, step sister and Grandma here for brunch!  Can't wait!

Today's card is one that I made with my Grandma at the nursing home with 15 of her closest friends:)  It was lots of fun and I cut extras as I knew they would make great after Christmas cards (for thank yous or for winter wishes:)  I have my friend Becky Roberts (Inking Idaho) to thank for this one....she's my inspriation on this and let's be honest so many projects!  She is a GEM!

Well, as you can see yesterday came and went!  It was a busy day around the Summers' house!  Mark had his FINAL football game of the season (it was a COLD and WET one!)  Glad to know the season is over, but it has been fun adn Mark is a little bummed.  On top of that, Emma had a mock cheerleading meet, I got some Stampin' Up! work done that had a deadline, all coffee cozy orders are done and will be shipped today and then of course down time!  It was a fun, but fuy day!  SO, today you're getting Day 2 of the Christmas tag series:)  Hope it was worth the wait!

Yay!  So glad you are excited about my 12 days of tags!  Well, today is one of those days you'll be getting two posts!  I really need to remember to take my pictures during the day....can't stand the flash light I get and I am too lazy to edit my photos:)  So, in the meantime, I thought I'd share with you a card I made with my Grandma and 12 of her closest friends last week at her nursing home!  The youngest participant was 82 and the oldest was 99!  What a hoot it was!  I love going there and sharing the love of crafting with these amazing women!

My inspiration for this card came from none other than the AMAZING Carrie Gaskin over at Artistic Avenger!  She is amazing and I just LOVE her style!  (I want to be like her when I grow up.....I love that she expresses herself throuhg her crafting....thanks Carrie!)  Anyhow, I had to modify her card (a lot!) to meet the needs of my crafters but I am thrilled with the final card, as were they!

What's a birthday without.....

a card from Gramma?  I actually had a few of you ask why you never saw Cole's card....well, it needs a little repair before I can share that with you:)  Cole liked it a little too much!  (I appologize that today's photos aren't the best but I HAD to share it with you ASAP so I had to take the pictures at night with a flash).

This is the MASTERPIECE my mom made for Mark!  Isn't it AMAZING????  Each piece is cut out, glued on....it's crazy!  R2 D2 is made with layers, embossed pieces, punched pieces and a few hand drawn elements.  It's remarkable!

And of course, the card is a fun interlocking card as well!  The silver layer folds open to the right where the Pacific Point and the Glimmer paper layer open to the left.  How awesome is that?  The actual card is about 8 x 10......it's just stunning!

I hope you like all the details and the enjoy seeing the cards my mom makes!  She truly is so talented and her work blows my mind!  Thank you Mom!  Mark I think loves the card even more than me!

Merry Winter

It's Thursday!  Where is the week going!  Did I mention it's a PD Day tomorrow???   Can't wait!!!  Although it's a crazy busy day, but will be fun!

Today's post is a quick one as I've still got lunches to make!  I LOVE LOVE LOVE this DSP...the plaid just makes me happy!  I used the same layout I did on a different card earlier this fall, but replaced the button for the snowman and the tree for the snowflake.  I'm really happy with the way this little gem turned out!

I have big plans for this stamp set....thanks to Pinterest!!!  Can't wait to share it with you once it gets done:)

MDS Blog Hop Photo Challenge!

Happy Friday to you!  It sure is a happy day here!  I had the BEST downline meeting last night!  After hosting a downline meeting, or even attending a stamping event, it completely rejuvinates me and confirms why I do what I do!  I am so lucky to have all the amazing stampers in my life!  Thank you for the BEAUTIFUL gifts (and yes, I'll share!) and amazing presentations.  It truly was a GREAT night!

Our challenge this week on MDS was to come up with a photo card.  I am super excited to make my Christmas cards in MDS this year and send them off to print...no pressure, create once, hit send and VOILA!  LOVE THAT!  Now the only thing is WHAT CARD?  I have created three for you today to check out.  Now I will say these aren't the photos I'll be using (have to surprise you later with those:), but I wanted to give you an idea of what my card may look like.

To create all three of my cards I started with a template already created by Stampin' Up!.  The hardwork was done, now all I had to do was plunk in my photo, switch up the colours and voila!  I plunked in a photo on the first template so you can see where the photo was placed......it was a birth announcement card!  How fun is that?  

I switched out the DSP to be the Noteworthy DSP, added a Christmas stamp, a little bling and the ornaments!  Easy Peasy!  I find it hard to even tell they are the same card template as the colours and purpose are so different.

This next card, (and feel free to click on it to see it larger) is actually a tri fold card.  It looks a little "funny" all laid out open, but that's the jist of the card.  I played around with my photos in iPhoto to antique them a bit as I thought it matched the DSP a bit better.  I like to do this to photos when the colours my kids wear don't really match or suit a purpose.  This way you aren't drawn to a set colour or item in a photo and it tends to blend a little more.

As you can see in the photo, it's a really simple card that focuses on the photos...I only used two stamps and no bling on this card.  The template for this card is actually from the Graduation download! How crazy is that????  (I forgot to add the photos in on the original template, but they are in the same spot as they are on the card that I made.

I love the trifold Christmas card and this may be what I end up using for my cards. I love that you can design on the back (maybe include my "year in review" letter or more photos) and there is a large canvas to work with.  What do you think, do you like tri folds?

My last little creation is a Christmas card template, but I wanted to personalize it a little!  I love the simplicity of this card but needed to swtich out the colours just a little bit based on my photo.

For the photo, I edited it again in iPhoto (this is my idea of photo editing...a click or two of a button:)  I selected all the elements and dragged them up a bit on the card.  I then colour matched the ornaments to the photo, switched up the background and inserted a vintage overlay on top.  

Not that I don't love you guys or your stopping by but SERIOUSLY these cards all together took me less than an hour!  How awesome is that!?!?  Now it's just picking which one I like best......I'd love to hear your opinion!  Which one do you like best and why:)  Remember, the photos will be different, but does one card jump out at you a little more?

Snow Much Fun!

I'm not sure about where you are, but winter is here!  OK, that may be a bit of a stretch but we've been having some true fall days...cold and wet!   I think the shorts can officially be packed away and the coats are out!  Nathan is pretty sad about this as "he likes seeing his legs" (not sure what that's all about but that's what he told me this morning when he was getting dressed).

After making this card I thought I should have used the Mica Flakes and made our friendly snowman into a shaker card.  Next time:)

I am LOVING the Frostwood Lodge DSP....I really like the plaid sides....they just scream comfy and cozy to me!

GI Cancer Fundraiser

Well, it's my favourite time of year!  I LOVE LOVE LOVE our GI Cancer Fundraiser.  For those of you that are "new" to my blog or a "new" customer let me fill you in a bit on my story behind this event.  In January of 2004, my dad passed away from GI Cancer at the young age of 56.  For the first few years after my dad passed away, Emma and I stamped cards and sold them donating all proceeds to Cancer Research.  Then my Simply Stars team and I decided to host a full and fun day of stamping to our customers, friends and family.  In the four big events we've hosted, we have raised over $15 000 in honour of my dad.  This is really touching to me, so you can see why this event is so important to me!  My goal this year is to pass the $20 000!  That would be amazing!

Button Buddies Take Three....

Well, I had something else planned for my post today and I crashed last night before writing up my blog:)  But there's always today, right.  Today is Nathan's first "big" day at school.  He's pretty nervous and I think a little scared.  There were some tears last night but we made the bus driver (he wanted to bike today but the weather is just too questionable) and his teacher a card so it "forces" him to get on the bus and also to school.  I think it'll all work out just fine (for him:) but I'll keep you posted!

SO, I thought I'd share with you one of the favourites from class last night!  I wanted to also thank all the ladies at class last night, I had a GREAT night thanks to each of you!  Can you tell why I love my job?  I had so much fun and went to bed with a smile on my face, thank you!

These cards were simple in terms of supplies (although I needed a TON of Crumb Cake!!!)  The card is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4, the front layer is popped up with dimensionals, stitched and sponged with White Craft Ink and measures 4 x 5 1/4.  The stamps we used were Button Buddies and Petite Pairs.  And then a whack of buttons and glue dots!

On a different note, here are the dimensions to the pencil chocolate bar holder the other day:

• Daffodil Delight - 5 x 6 scored at 1/4 and 3 1/4
• Silver - 3/4 x 6
• Regal Rose - 1 1/4 x 6

Button Buddies ... so many smiles...

Truly....can you be any sweeter?  The emails and comments yesterday were very much appreciated and made a little bit of a sad day a really happy day!  For those of you that were wondering, Nathan did great!  So did Emma and Mark.  It was a fun back to school day and Nathan is ready to just GO...he has gradual entry though so he's not officially in until Monday:)  

I do apologize that today's post is a quickie....ran out of time on Tuesday to get some things done (spent the day with my boys!) and well, today is yet another one....need to get those last minute back to school items...you know, binders, a green pen, an odd sock (truly these are on Mark's list....how fun!)

In honour of my Button Buddies class that I have going on tonight (can't wait!) Gently Falling ... and some more Spice Cake

Have I sold you on this paper or this colour combination yet?  I am in LOVE with Pool Party, Soft Suede and More Mustard (Sonia, I know you are too!!!)  Seriously, do you like it!?!

I know this is a big tease, but this paper is available in just a few days (if only it were part of the SU DSP deal on right now...buy 3 get one free, I would stock up!)  

For this card I randomly stamped off the main images in either the Soft Suede or More Mustard and then did the outline images in the full intensity.  The layers are sponged in More Mustard.

I like the way the ribbon is on the right side of the card with the brad overlapping it.  Just a different little twist (usually I do ribbon on the left).

Best Friend Forever

This year I have decided to stamp out of my comfort zone.  This stamp set is not one that I originally would have purchased or even really looked at in the catalogue.  (I'm being honest:)  BUT we were given this set at Convention.  SO, I am starting something new this year....if I'm given a stamp set, I'm going to use it!  Seems so simple, yet I don't always do that  So, here's my card.....
