A Special Fundraiser

Happy Monday Morning to you!  I hope you had a wonderful weekend!  We had lots of fun at a cheer competition (so proud of Emma, she did an amazing back tuck - so exciting!) and it was wonderful to have Mark and Nathan along to support their sister!  AND we coulnd't have had more amazing weather here yesterday...wow, it was I think 16 and amazing!  

I am excited to share a special fundraiser I am helping my dear friend Sonia and her son, Lucas support!  Lucas is a very active member in THE BAREFOOT WALK.  Their mission statement is: to raise money as well as awareness to show our support for the people in our world living without the basic needs, such as shoes.  One of their fundraisers this year is selling the most amazingly yummy chocolates (Mint Smoothies...) for $2!  So, I want to sweeten the already amazing deal, if you order any quantity of Mint Smoothies from me before the end of November, I will prepare and punch all the pieces to make these sweet little treats!  They make a VERY inexpensive but VERY thoughtful and appreciated gift for those you like to achknowledge this holiday season!  I would love to support this great cause and I hope you can too!  Any order, small or large helps make a difference!

What have I been up to?

Let me start by saying yesterday was FANTASTIC!!!  I had a great time with my family and I think the kids did as well!!!  You know you'll see photos soon on my MDS pages:)  Well, I certainly can't share everything right now as some people read my blog and I can't spoil their surprises....right?  BUT I can share something with you I made for Nathan.  He has been asking for slippers, so I thought I'd try making him a pair:)

I used the Vanna brand yarn (because it was on sale....no other reason than that...I don't know much about yarns...I also liked the flecked colours).  When I crocheted the yarn, I used a double strand (so I bought two balls of the same yarn and when I crocheted, I had two strands of yarn for each stitch).

I watched THIS VIDEO on how to create the bottom of a bootie, and modified it a bit for Nathan's foot size.  I chained 17 stitches and used a 5 mm hook.  

Then for the body of the shoe, I watched THIS VIDEO to make the body of the shoe.  Because my shoe is a little larger, I used 18 stitches (rather than 16) when working on the toe of the shoe.  I also added a row of single crochets on the toe to add a little more surface area.  (I did this after the first row).  

The two videos shoe how to make a bootie (without the ankle component).  SO, I just did some double crocheting rows above the pattern I used to make it my own, and a little more snuggie for Nathan.  

He then picked the button colour he wanted on the flap on the side of the shoe.  What I like about the button is that I can adjust this as his foot grows.  These boots are a little large right now, so the button is on a little farther back than I thought it would be, but as his foot grows I can move the button for him.

Well, I hope you like my "non paper craft" post today:)  I wanted to share with you what I've been up to!  I've been having fun creating handmade gifts and treasures for friends and family!  I hope you have a FABULOUS day today!  

Elf Box

Happy Saturday to you!  I hope your day is off to a great start!  I can't wait, we have another family Christmas today....we're hosting my family here today!!!  YAY!

We are in good shape.....I won't share the list of still yet to complete though:)  Actually we're in great shape!

Today's project is very similar to the elf utensil holders (that will be on my table today:) using the Pillow Box Die.  Here is a quick supply list:

• Old Olive - pillow box die
• Basic Black - 5 1/2 x 1, 3/4 x 3/4, itty bitty punch pack
• Shimmer Silver Paper - 1 1/4 x 1 1/4
• Real Red - scallop circle
• Whisper White - 1 3/8 inch circle
• DSP - I just cut it using the Big Shot die and it was about 1 1/4 inches tall

Utensil Holders for Christmas Dinner

Christmas dinner.....can you believe I'm thinking that far ahead???  Not only am I thinking that far ahead, but I've created that far ahead...so excited!  I work in funny ways though, I may be done the table decor for my dinner on Saturday, but I haven't given any thought to the crafts I have to do in Nathan and Mark's class this week!  Isn't that always the way???

So these little gems are made with the pillow box Big Shot die....cute, eh?  I punched the front part of the box with the 2 1/2 inch circle punch.  The rest of the supplies are as follows:

• Basic Black - 5 1/2 x 1, 3/4 x 3/4, Itty Bitty Punch Pack Circle
• Silver Glitter Paper - 1 1/4 x 1 1/4

These are as simple and cute as they appear.....making a whole whack of them took no time at all!  Hope you like them!

Christmas Tag- Day 11...sort of

Happy Saturday to you!  This is a SUPER quick post this morning!  We are on our way to Oshawa (Emma and I and other friends too!) for a cheer competition!  It's a QUICK run there and back today, but will be lots of fun!  I can't wait to see them perform!

Stocking Die for the Big Shot

I am SUPER excited to be offering a class with this ADORABLE die!  We will be making 4 (maybe 5......) projects using this die!  It is going to be SO much fun!  AND of course we'll make one stocking project BUT there will be 3 other "uses" for this adorable die that you will LOVE!  One of them is this sweet horse gift card holder......or you could make it a card....a banner for a little boy's birthday party.....a card for a horse lover (Linda!).  The possibilities are ENDLESS!!!!

I first saw this idea done with the stocking hand punch on Jackie Topa's blog.  And then of course it's been adapted to the big die that is super fun!!!

Festive Treat Bag

Happy Wednesday to you!  YAY!  We are already mid week...so excited!  It's also club night, which means it'll be a great night!  Can't wait!!!  

Today's project came to me yesterday afternoon and I just had to make it!  I couldn't wait...do you have that happen very often?  I love the stamp set Merry Winter....the little snowmen are super cute!  SO, I decided to use the treat bags I just ordered off the clearance rack (LOVE the clearance rack...if you haven't checked it out I suggest you do:)

I ran the bag through the Big Shot with the flap sticking out.  A few places are "perfectly" embossed, but I love the look!  I am in LOVE with Pool Party and Cherry Cobbler together as well...the perfect colour combination for me!

I embossed the little guy in Black embossing powder (love the shiny look!) coloured him in and made a teeny tag for it!  Of course this little package will look WAY better when filled with treats and chocolates.....can't wait!!!!

Another Bat Box....Milk Carton die

Are you sick of my Halloween projects yet?!?!  Hope not!!!  I had fun making this.  I have seriously made a bat box out of just about every Big Shot die I own!  Crazy, I know!  The best part about this project is my friend Monica Davis has created the identical box to this!!!!  Monica I love how you added the black in the eyes, so I cased that for this one:)  So fun!!!

Here is the supply list I used on this package:

• Basic Black - 2 milk carton dies with the fourth side cut off of each die (NOT the one with the tab), 1/2 inch circle (2), middle size pennant die (run through the Big Shot with the Spider Web embossing folder)
• Whisper White - 3/4 inch circles(2), two triangles for the teeth
• other - glimmer brads, 1/4 pumpkin pie grosgrain ribbon, sticky strip

This box really is pretty simple to put together!  Have fun with it!  I can't wait to share my winter project using this same template...soon enough:)

Altered Bat Box

As you saw on my blog a few week's back, I had created a bat box using the Petal Cone die (that was completely cased from Shelli Gardner).  I got thinking that this little guy would be ADORABLE on basically any of our boxes!  So yes, you guessed it...I had to try!

I made a pillow box bat box!  How fun!  I may change not being so lazy and actually getting out of my chair to get an alphabet stamp set and stamped the word "boo" but for the first attempt at the project, I'm thrilled!  (oh and yes, this will hold a 5 cent Twizzlers in it - I had fun reading your comments and emails, thank you!)

Twizzlers Treat Holder

Happy Monday to you!  I hope your weekend was a great one!  Mine was full of fun and VERY productive!  Can you believe that I am just about ready for my big demonstrator event on Saturday (with the help of my mom:) AND my downline event on Thursday AND my club on Monday?  This NEVER happens!  Maybe I'm learning it pays to be organized...then again, maybe not:)  We'll see if it keeps up!

Today's project makes me laugh.  Adam thinks it is RIDICULOUS!  He really questions paper crafting sometimes.....here was our conversation (roughly):

• Me: What do you think of these?
• Adam:  Cute?  What's in there?
• Me: Twizzlers.
• Adam:  Like 2 little Twizzler sticks that are worth about a nickel?
• Me:  Yup!
• Adam:  How long did it take to do "that"?
• Me: To make a dozen took about an hour.....
• Adam:  So your 5 cent candy is now worth $1 and took an hour to make....hmmmm....just don't get it!

Anyone else have a spouse like this?  Don't get me wrong, Adam likes Stampin' Up! and loves all it has provided for our family, but sometimes he just questions the practicality of it.  But my response is always just think of how others feel when they get these amazing hand made gifts!  Anyhow, I don't have a supply list for you today, but I do have a video.  If you have any questions, let me know! Spooky Hair Clip Tag

Shocker....Halloween project!  I think there are actually people out there that love Halloween more than I do, but I'm okay with that!  While in St. George's I met a fabulous employee at Kanab that LOVES Halloween and makes the coolest Halloween home decor (from scratch) for his haunted house each year.  (I'll get you the link to his awesome You Tube video by Dave in the next few days!)  I wish I had of known as I would have made some different Halloween treats for the employees out at Kanab.  

Today's project was fun to make.  I found these little spiders at a craft store and thought they'd make adorable hair clips.  So I made this litte tag for the clips to rest on.  They are really quick and simple to make and I have a quick video for you to see.  

My favourite part (of course besides the spider) are the ribbons.  I've seen this before, and never actually done it, but I cut the wide striped grosgrain ribbon in half and then it frays and just looks so fun!  I love it!  Check out the video down below for supplies and instructions.  Thanks so much for checking out my blog today!  Hope you have a WONDERFUL day!

Hybrid Halloween Treats in MDS

Happy Friday to you!  You know what that means....MY DIGITAL STUDIO blog hop!  What fun!  Now I will apologize up front here that I have not done a very good job keeping track of who is participating this week.  With the crazy weather south of us and back to school life has gotten in the way for some so please forgive me for having some of the links up:)  I know you won't mind:)

My good friend Mandy set the theme this week!  She is such a sweetheart and I really think she picked Halloween just for me!  NO, not really...it's because there are so many great downloads this week that are fall and Halloween related!

Now you'll notice that my little vellum baggie is empty, but not to worry, Nathan and I will fill them before the "big" day!  Let me explain the hybrid part of this project first.  I cut two pieces of vellum (4 1/4 x 5 1/2) and stitched the two of them together leaving the top open.  I then simply folded over the top edge (so the treats don't fall out).  I then wrapped the ribbon around the little envelope and secured the tag onto the ribbon and tied a bow!  Voila!  Hybrid, cute and I can make a million (well, not really...but at least a bunch!) without going too crazy!

As for the MDS portions, I used the following(the picture to the left is what the project looked like in MDS before printing):

Back to School

Well, I am officially a little sad today!  I can't believe our summer is over and school has hit!  I know I've said this before but I love having everyone home.  Again, I am excited to get back into a routine and our daily lives BUT I am going to miss everyone.  I am especially going to miss my little helper, Nathan!  He starts school today!!!  Unfortunately/fortunately, he is in an all day every day program that starts on Monday!  WOW, that seems crazy and I'm sure he'll love it, but it's tough seeing your little ones grow up so fast!  I'll keep you posted on how his day goes today (we have a 30 minute interview time today).  He is SO excited I can't be sad:)

So, in honour of the big day, here is a super cute treat for their lunches!  Now, I can't take the credit for this project, my mom made these for my munchkins....are they not ADORABLE!!!

Halloween Treats.....

Am I too early!?!?  Tough!!!  I've had Halloween up in my studio now for two weeks and I'm DYING to share!  This is just an early sneak peek...there is a ton of SUPER FUN stuff to come!  (not to worry, if you don't love Halloween I'll still like you AND I won't post it everyday...promise!)  

These little treats are SO quick and easy to whip up.  I actually made them for my club girls filled with embellishments as a thanks for being in my club:)  It was fun!

Scalloped Lolli Flower and a Wreath!

Happy Saturday to you!  Hope you have some fantastic plans for this weekend...relaxing, stamping, spending time with family...whatever it may be, have fun!  We don't have too much on the go, Adam is working on finishing some stuff around the house and I'm FINALLY finalizing my September classes and calendar...so keep your eyes peeled for my upcoming classes and clubs:)

Alrighty, onto today's project!  I can not take credit for this idea, it is beautifully displayed in the holiday mini catalogue and as soon as I saw it I knew I had to make one!  So some of the lollies are made using the method I demonstrated on my blog a week or so ago, and the other lollies are created using a scallop circle.  Today's video demonstrates how easy it is to make this wreath using the scalloped circles as well.  

To decorate the wreath I used an assortment of centres...fabric, vintage brads, the new super cool buttons (you can order on Sept 1st) and some punches.  Truly you can use anything here for yours.  I hope you enjoy the project and are as in LOVE with this Designer Series Paper as I am!  I just LOVE LOVE LOVE the Spice Cake paper and think it might just be my favourite paper EVER!!!

The lollies range in diameter from 2 to 4 inches.  (except the two small scalloped edged lollies they are the hand punch from SU).

How could I not...

 I made this last week when I was making my manly creations and forgot to share this with you:) We are away for Adam's birthday this year so I wanted to be able to pack him a "small gift" that would fit easily in the suitcase.  I had the kids each colour themselves on this package (although Emma coloured for Cole). 

 We decided to get Adam a few gift cards but I found a card with two gift cards to be too thick...so I created this box card!  Is it a card or a box?  What do you think?  The gift cards are for dinner and a movie (hence the "movie" themed top of the box).

Glassine Envelopes

 Happy Thursday!  How fun, it's the last day of the school week and we're leading into a four day weekend!  So excited!

Today's project is a little different style for me.  It uses the glasine envelopes that are in the current mini catalogue.  Don't you love it?  I also used the Kisses precut papers from the mini catalogue.  YUMMY, don't you think?  

I stamped on the Whisper White layer so that it is hidden under the belly band around the envelope.

 I am going to use this for my Grandma. I'm going to write the message on the back of the kisses paper and include some seeds in the envelope for her for her little garden.

While making this I actually thought they would make super sweet wedding favours or shower thank yous.  What do you see putting in these little babies?

Bunny Box

 Happy Saturday to you!  It's been a fun day so far.  I apologize for the late post.  We've had a busy weekend and we're not done yet:)  Today was Emma's cheer competition and I'm so proud!  The girls did a great job!  (I posted the video should anyone want to see it...totally not stamping related:)

Today's project was made for Emma, Monica and Angela.  When we got home from the cheer competition, they wanted to craft.  So, this is what we came up with.  It's very similar to the punched bunny I made last year, but this time I made it with the Big Shot.  So, it's my Big Shot bunny:)

Brag Book

 This is a fun and quick brag book that is perfect for a loved one or to make as a thank you for a hostess or a friend.  This is not an original idea, not sure where I learned this, but I think I made it about five years ago for the first time.  I loved making them then and this month one of my hostesses asked if we could make these at her workshop (thanks Kristy!)  What fun!

So, this is what we came up with.    The basic dimensions for my book are:

Quick and Fun Hair Clip

 I am so excited to share this project.  I have my old friend (just time, not age:) Anne (AKA Annie P) and my new friend Michelle Fairbrother.

 I first saw this idea from Anne.  This was her shoebox swap for when we went to Syracuse.  Some of you were asking what a shoebox swap is.  It's basically preparing the cards for a set number of people.  You bring the consumable supplies and also the stamps and ink to make the project   and then you rotate around the tables to make the projects.  I have never actually done one, but we are going to do it at my next downline meeting and I'm quite excited!  If any of you are interested in checking out our team meetings, please feel free to email me and you are welcome!

Anne's card uses the Circles #2 die for the Big Shot.  She cut out the fabric, attached together with the glue gun and then scrunched together.  I love it!  AND to top it off, the circles are all attached on one piece of fabric and make a pin!  FUN!!!!

I met Michelle at my friend Missy's last weekend.  This fabulous card was her swap...how fun is that?  I love what she (and her husband) put together!  The colours, the paper flowers and everything just work.  I'll do a video on the paper   flowers soon!

Today's video is a quick one that just shows how I put the fabric together to scrunch and make a hair clip out of it!  I hope you like it!  (Sorry for the tardiness of the post today.....I need to have Cole become a better sleeper so I get my work done:)

I think I need more sleep....

 Ever have those moments where you think everything is funny?  Well, that's my house this morning:)

Nathan is now obsessed with video taping his creations (sorry:)  Actually I find it quite amusing and fun!  Today's card is one he made for Gramma since she broke her arm.  He wanted to do this stamp (Voila) because she could use his arm.  Sweet!

Turkey Favours

Emma and I had so much fun making these little turkey favours for Thanksgiving.  The first photo you see, Emma created completely on her own for my family Thanksgiving we hosted on Saturday.  She went upstairs to my craft room and came down a few hours later with a bunch of these made for all our guests.  She placed them on everyone's plates and of course they were a big hit!  Thanks Emma!

But Emma decided they were too much work to then remake for Adam's family's Thanksgiving dinner on Monday (and there were no treats on her original ones:)  SO, off to the craft room we went and this is what we came up with.  They came together very quickly and all the pieces were done using the Big Shot or a punch so it really was a quick project.

• Scallop and Scallop #2 and Circle #2 and the Big Shot (for cutting out the feathers and the body)

BOO Door Hanger

I hope you're not too sick of Halloween treat holders because here is another one:)  We made this the other night in my Halloween class.  I think this one might have been my favourite....I'm so excited to actually get to use it!  The kids were excited about this one as well!!!  It comes together VERY quickly so you could make a ton of these in no time.  I think that's a theme of mine this year...quick, easy but nice!

Night and Day Window Sheet Sour Cream Container

It's another Halloween treat box!  Hope you don't mind but I've got lots of treat holders coming your way over the next week or so!  When I saw that the Stampin' Up! Night and Day Designer Series Paper came with clear Window Sheets as well as the traditional papers I was very excited!!!  The first thing I thought of was...think of the fun boxes and containers you can make showcasing yummy Halloween treats!!!!  So, that's what I did!

I wanted this holder to be a little larger than the traditional sized containers.  I used an 8x6 inch rectangle of the paper to make the holder.  If you've never made one before, check out the video for complete instructions.  One suggestion though is to either secure the ends with two rows of Sticky Strip or staples or brads.  My two year old EASILY got into the bottom of the package and devoured some of the candies:)  So, if you want people to stay out of the package until they are "supposed" to eat it, reinforce the seam:)

The tag for this package is from Graveyard Gala.  I wanted the "party" information covered up on the tag as I just wanted a festive tag so I covered it with DSP.  And of course, the yummy Pumpkin Pie Striped Ribbon goes perfectly!  I hope you like the package, I hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving weekend and I'll "see" you again tomorrow!  Take care!

Spooky Bag and matching card

I just love the way Nathan says, "Spooky".  He has the quietest little "s" at the beginning so really you just hear "pooky" and it's too cute!  Anyhow, everything I make for Halloween, which is a lot, he say is "pooky", he then puts his hands together under his chin and acts like he's scared.  It's so sweet (I'll try and cature it on tape:)  Then the next thing he asks is, "Is there candy?"  Anyhow, sorry for all my babbling on and on there, I'll get onto today's project!

Todays project we made at my Halloween class.  It is a little treat bag and matching 3x3 card.  I can't tell you how quickly it came together...it was ridiculous!  There is actually no stamping involved, a little sponging and just assembling.  I hope you like it!

ANOTHER way to use the Shimmer Paint!!!! Spray it!!!

Glenda, at Founder's had a beautiful swap card that had Handsome Hunter shimmer paint!  Well, she's one SMART COOKIE!!!  She developed a little recipe on using the Shimmer Paint (in the Holiday Mini catalogue) and Rubbing Alcohol to make a Shimmer Spray Paint!!!!  Isn't she just too smart!?!?  So, I decided to make Bashful Blue shimmery paper for this project.  Now I know it's tough to see in this photo, but it really is sparkly and beautiful!  It actually is just as shimmery, if not more shimmery than the shimmer white cardstock (that the snowman and greeting are stamped on!!!)  Check out the video for all the tips and tricks!

From the Crypt Meets Night and Day!

LOVE this designer series paper from Stampin' Up!  Isn't the black and white just perfect for Halloween!?!?  It could also be "dressed up" for a classy look, but I wanted spooky!

This little bag was really fun to make as it has the Sweet Treats Holder inside the bag as an added bonus!  The video today shows you how to make the Sweet Treat holder reusable, by making a little "garage door" in the back so the candies can come out easily without having to rip the paper.  Which also means, if you get a craving, you can take a little snack and refill it later:)

For this bag I used Elegant Eggplant CS (12 x 6) for the bag in the Fancy Box die for the Big Shot.  Then I ran a small piece of the DSP, Night and Day through the Big Shot to get the same scalloped top on the paper as I have on the bag.  I used the 1 3/4 inch circle punch to make the hole for the Sweet Treats cup and filled it with the Halloween M&Ms.  Check out the video for full instructions!  (If you're in my template club meeting on Thursday, this is one of our projects:)
