For those of you that have followed my blog you may know this story but I wanted to share it with you today as today is a special day. It's my dad's birthday! Unfortunately, my dad passed away about 4 and a half years ago from cancer. It's taken me about 4 years to be able to scrapbook him and the wonderful memories we shared so I thought it would be fitting to share with you a page on his birthday. I'm happy with this page and particularly like the "secret" journaling tag at the top of the page tucked in behind the picture. This is a message for my kids to read and understand when they are a bit older.
Every year I run a fundraiser in my dad's name and this year will be no different. Watch for details coming in the fall.....to my local ladies save the date Saturday, November 8th (NOTE THE DATE CHANGE!!!). Details will come!
Recipe:
Colours: Really Rust, Chocolate Chip and DSP (I forget the name.....)
The top photo is 8 x 9 1/2 and the bottom photo is 3 x 4. Each journaling point is adhered using a Vintage Brad. I hope you like the page!
On a bit lighter note......ONLY 9 MORE DAYS UNTIL MY SUPER HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT AND SOME FANTABULOUS (do you like my word?) BLOG CANDY!!! Have a great day!

What a beautiful scrapbook page. It really brought tears to my eyes, so I just had to comment. I lost my dad this past January to cancer and this page brought my wonderful memories of him flooding back to me. I feel so choked up right now. Thank you for sharing this. It is a beautiful page and you and your children will treasure it forever!

Heather without any doubt I know you're Dad would be so proud of you....as a wife, mother, daughter and friend. He must have done something very wonderful in life to have had you as his daughter. I'm thinking and praying for you today as you remember him, especially today.

Well I needed that cry! And as I can see from all the comments, so did a lot of others. This is by far the most beautiful page I have ever seen. The colours, the lay out, perfect, but the simple journalling that says more then pages of writing ever could. So many people write songs about there life, love, loss, pain, and pleasure, this is your song Heather. Thank you for sharing it, and I too will treasure it. Big hugs to you!

Heather,
This is a GREAT page that will be treasured forever! I love the hidden tag that has a message to your children. I will have to do this for our daughter's page. Although I understand not being able to scrap those pages for awhile. GREAT JOB!

Thanks for sharing this with us Heather, I personally also know how hard it is to scrapbook someone that we loved and lost, but it is very theraputic and your kids will just adore these later in life. I am sure that at times when you look back at these pictures you will have some tears/laughs/happy thoughts because of all the memories associated with the pictures, but it will all be worth it because your dad will be sharing those moments with you too. Have a great day - I know how difficult it may be for you.

Scrapbooking a page and preserving those precious memories is a great way to remember and celebrate your Dad Heather. It is a hard thing to do but you will be glad you did. You are a great daughter and I am sure he was and still is so very proud of you and all you are achieving.
These pages will make you smile and cry with all your love for him. Thanks for sharing your precious memories.
