Happy Valentine's Day to you! Well, I have about a million projects I should have shared with you BEFORE today, but because we love to show people in our lives we love them EVERYDAY I can share them over the next little while! (Yes, I procrastinated and didn't get all my projects done in time!)
Mark has a fun day at school today and they are having a little contest in their class for the "heartiest" treat and the cutest packaging. So, thanks to Pinterest (saw the idea to make cheerios look like donuts....so we used Lifesavers) and then we came up with the Tim Horton's box for the "donuts". For those of you south of the border, Tim Hortons is a coffee chain that is slowing trickling your way (saw some in Ohio this weekend!) LOVE their coffee and they are literally on EVERY street corner it seems here in London. As a matter of fact we have one about 8 houses away:)
Enough about me...onto the project! So, Mark and I "iced" the Lifesaver candies with some Royal Icing, then sprinkled the hearts on the candy. We let them set for a few hours and then made the box. To make the box, I followed the general "layout" for the Bitty Box die and just adapted it to fit the Lifesaver candies. Here are the dimensions of the box, but again, will vary depending on the treat you are using:
- 5 3/4 x 8 scrore at 3/8(this tab reinforces the sides), 7/8, 4 7/8, 5 3/8 and in the opposite direction I scored at 1/2(this just makes a small tab that slides into close the box), 1, 4, 4 1/2, 7 1/2
- then I just cut a 3 7/8 x 2 7/8 piece of Early Espresso for the top of the box
- the logo was just cut off a clean coffee cup and voila...a Tim Horton's donut box!
I hope you like today's sweet little project! Mark is SUPER excited to take it to school today! Will keep you posted on the contest, although I think he really doesn't care as I made one for him as well so he's just tickled pink!
