Happy Wednesday to you!  Mid week....love it!  It's been such a fun week, I'm so excited for my Christmas dinner with my team tomorrow night!  We had a fun dinner last night with family (thank you) in preparation for Advent!  Can you believe we are so close to December?  I am getting excited!

Are you surprised to see today's tag uses the other tag from the Two Tags die?  I LOVE the stamp set, Jolly Bingo Bits....they are the sweetest images!  It's hard to see, but the images are stamped on the shimmer paper.  The third circle is left blank so you can write on it for your tag:)

12 Tags of Christmas - Day 3

It's really beginning to feel a lot like Christmas.....well, maybe not Christmas but the weather sure has taken a turn around here!  We have truly lucked out with a beautiful fall, but I am ready for the white fluffy stuff!!!  Anyone else ready?

12 Tags of Christmas - Day 2

Well, as you can see yesterday came and went!  It was a busy day around the Summers' house!  Mark had his FINAL football game of the season (it was a COLD and WET one!)  Glad to know the season is over, but it has been fun adn Mark is a little bummed.  On top of that, Emma had a mock cheerleading meet, I got some Stampin' Up! work done that had a deadline, all coffee cozy orders are done and will be shipped today and then of course down time!  It was a fun, but fuy day!  SO, today you're getting Day 2 of the Christmas tag series:)  Hope it was worth the wait!

This one might be my favourite tag (then again, I'm sure I'll say that again!)  Here is a supply list for this tag:

Yay!  So glad you are excited about my 12 days of tags!  Well, today is one of those days you'll be getting two posts!  I really need to remember to take my pictures during the day....can't stand the flash light I get and I am too lazy to edit my photos:)  So, in the meantime, I thought I'd share with you a card I made with my Grandma and 12 of her closest friends last week at her nursing home!  The youngest participant was 82 and the oldest was 99!  What a hoot it was!  I love going there and sharing the love of crafting with these amazing women!

My inspiration for this card came from none other than the AMAZING Carrie Gaskin over at Artistic Avenger!  She is amazing and I just LOVE her style!  (I want to be like her when I grow up.....I love that she expresses herself throuhg her crafting....thanks Carrie!)  Anyhow, I had to modify her card (a lot!) to meet the needs of my crafters but I am thrilled with the final card, as were they!

MDS Blog Hop

Happy Friday to you!  I hope you have all had a fantastic week!  For those of you south of the border, I hope you had a great Thanksgiving!  (and really are any Americans reading my blog today, aren't you too busy shopping:)

THis week's theme was the trifold card.  I really love these cards as you can make it "flow" by having your panels link together, or you can make them very separate.  This is what I did here.

The front of the card is the greeting, the middle panel will be a recipe and then the back panel is my photo and "love message".  I am super excited to print off a few of these for my neighbours that I bake for during the holidays...just have to decide what recipe to make this year!

I thought I'd share a screen capture of this card as well, so you can see where the fold lines are (I keep this on while creating so you can easily see each section of the card!

Stocking Die....takes over the rink!

I had to share another creation with this super fun Big Shot Die!  I really wish it wasn't called the stocking die as it is so much more versatile than a stocking!  Here are a few names I thought of:

• If the shoe fits die
• Looks like a stocking but really isn't die
• Wow, the most fun die ever die
• OR Transformer die (that one is from Mark!)

ANYHOW, I'm sure you get the point!  This Big Shot die is extremely versatile and I'd recommend ordering it before it's too late!  It's in the Holiday mini that runs until early January!

My friend Laura shared with me her skate creation, and then I saw a few fun versions online with the hand stocking punch too, so of course HAD TO MAKE IT!

Now for those of you at my class, you either loved this one or hated it!  I'll admit the eyelets were a little tough, but they really made the boot!!!!  To create this boot, I simply rounded the top of the Big Shot die and then flattened the bottom (by cutting off a piece).  I added the black heal, by freehand cutting something that resembled the boot.  AND then to top it off, and this really makes it POP I added the blade using the silver glimmer paper!  YUMMY, don't you think?  

When we made this in the class, we created a card, but truly you could make a box, gift card holder, whatever you like out of this!!!!  Hope you like it!  Thanks for stopping by today!  Hope your week is going GREAT!

Stocking Die.....converts into an Elf Boot!

It's starting to get a little chillier here!  YAY!!!  Do you think it could mean snow is on it's way!?!?   I hope so!  I do LOVE fall, but I really like a cool, crisp snowfall!  I can't wait for Cole to experience a fun winter...he is truly my outdoor boy!

ANYHOW, my friend Christine made me this boot and I had to recreate it in my stocking die class I hosted a few weeks back!  It's just too cute to not share!

To create the boot, you are going to use the exact same method I did HERE making the witch's boot.  The inside and outside are the same (just different embossing folders and colours!)  How fun is that!?!?  For the dimensions etc. click on the link above.

As for the fun boot top, I used the Pennant Big Shot Die triangles in Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive!  LOVE it!

Thanks Christine for the great idea!  Have fun making a million of these little gems!

I'm in LOVE!!!

I know, I know, I'm so sorry!  I have gotten behind in my photo taking.....I've been VERY busy creating and really need to pull out my camera today to get some new photos!  I will, promise:)

What's a birthday without.....

a card from Gramma?  I actually had a few of you ask why you never saw Cole's card....well, it needs a little repair before I can share that with you:)  Cole liked it a little too much!  (I appologize that today's photos aren't the best but I HAD to share it with you ASAP so I had to take the pictures at night with a flash).

This is the MASTERPIECE my mom made for Mark!  Isn't it AMAZING????  Each piece is cut out, glued on....it's crazy!  R2 D2 is made with layers, embossed pieces, punched pieces and a few hand drawn elements.  It's remarkable!

And of course, the card is a fun interlocking card as well!  The silver layer folds open to the right where the Pacific Point and the Glimmer paper layer open to the left.  How awesome is that?  The actual card is about 8 x 10......it's just stunning!

I hope you like all the details and the enjoy seeing the cards my mom makes!  She truly is so talented and her work blows my mind!  Thank you Mom!  Mark I think loves the card even more than me!

Happy Birthday Mark!

Happy Sunday to you!  I hope you've had a great weekend so far!  It has been CRAZY around here!  I have so much stamping stuff that I've been working on, but things I can't share yet:(  The time will come that I can share, but in the meantime, I'm trying to make sure I have a post a day for you:)  Thanks for your patience with my blog over these past few days:)

I wanted to create a simple keepsake for Mark for his birthday.  We have a "secret" frame (not so secret when I tell you about it).  It's a plastic frame with plexiglass in it and it's under Mark's matress.  Every once in a while I switch up what's in the frame for him.  I like it to be a little message of love for him (and of course kids love to see a photo of themselves as well:)  SO, this will be the latest addition to the "secret" frame.  It may take him a while to look at the frame, but every once in a while he remembers and will quietly thank me for the new message.  Love this!

Anyhow, hope your day is a great one!  Will be a ton of fun around here!

Home Decor MDS Blog Hop

Where has the week gone?  It was a BUSY week around here, but productive and fun!  I'm sorry I haven't been good wtih phone calls and emails this week....time will slow down....right?  It's a PD Day here today, which is great!  Emma is taking a course today, I've got teacher interviews and then some birthday fun for Mark!  It's his birthday weekend and will be fairly low key.  He opted out of friend party this year (yay....a little less work for me:)  Mark truly is easy....he wants take out pizza for our family dinner....how easy is that!?!?!  LOVE IT!

So this week's theme was home decor.  I love the simplcity of what I created this week and can't wait to make a bunch of these....a fun hostess or friend gift.  Or better yet, a wedding gift would be perfect!  I am going to print this and then "modge podge" onto a 5x5 canvas.  Then I'll rest it on a little easel in my entrance way.  What do you think?  I'll photograph a finished version once I get it printed and ready, but this idea came a little late for me to get it all done for today:)  Sorry about that!

A Day in the Life......

Here's my life....a typical day....photos complete!  This is my day yesterday....and truly resembles a day for me.  Now of course there are glitches and things that do come up, but boy am I lucky...I have quite the happy life!

Merry Winter

It's Thursday!  Where is the week going!  Did I mention it's a PD Day tomorrow???   Can't wait!!!  Although it's a crazy busy day, but will be fun!

Today's post is a quick one as I've still got lunches to make!  I LOVE LOVE LOVE this DSP...the plaid just makes me happy!  I used the same layout I did on a different card earlier this fall, but replaced the button for the snowman and the tree for the snowflake.  I'm really happy with the way this little gem turned out!

I have big plans for this stamp set....thanks to Pinterest!!!  Can't wait to share it with you once it gets done:)

So excited!

OK, this was not the post I was going to have today, but I have to share!  I squeeled with joy when I saw this download yesterday from Stampin' Up!  The download that got me excited is the kit called "Day in the Life" and it's SO FUN!!!!  It's got 12 DSPs, 21 embellishments and 38 stamps PLUS a double page spread!  

I think the title of the kit is what got me excited...."Day in the Life".  I keep saying I want to make a page about what my day looks like so TODAY is the day!  I made the page last night, so today you know what I'll be doing.....taking pictures!  I'll share the finished page with you tomorrow, and another project as well:)

Are you even remotely as excited as I am?  I hope so!!!  Depending on how my day goes, I may be back this afternoon with a card and video!  Here's hoping!  (I guess tomorrow you'll know for sure once you see my page:)

Spooktacular Bat

WHAT????  It's mid November and it wasn't until I got an email from Stacey yesterday that I realized I hadn't shared Cole or Mark's Halloween pages yet!  What a horrible mom I am!

So today I thought I'd share Cole's page!  It is oneof the templates right from the Downtown Grunge layouts....LOVE it!  I added the picture and frame on the left side but beyond that it is the page provided....great, hey!

I made Cole's costume out of one of his track suits.  I wanted something quick and easy so he felt like he was in street clothes.  All my kids were a struggle to get in a costume around the age of two.  So, Cole's costume was a favourite cashing in at the $3 mark!!!  Gotta lot that.....fleece and floss!  

After Halloween I tried taking off the wings and the ears, but he wanted them left on!  Cute, hey?

Productive Day....but oops!

Good morning to you!!!  It's amazing what can get accomplished at 6 am on a Monday morning!  My boys were up early (therefore I am too!)  I felt energized and ready to tackle the day....so I did!  Laundry, vacuuming, cleaning a bathroom, lunches made, dinner made and still time for breakfast before getting the kids to the bus!!!  WOW (I know....this has NEVER happened and probably won't again!)  In all the fun and excitement I completely forgot to do my blog post!

Oh, thanks so much for the kind words for Mark yesterday.  He was feeling "weird" (his words) that my stamping friends were wishing him luck with football!  LOVE it!  He had a great game (had a great tackle to stop the other team from scoring!) and they ended up winning the city championship!  Way to go Rams!!!  This means two more weeks of football for the Southwest Ontario Championships:)  Gotta love football!!!  Thanks again!

So I know, this isn't "new" but hey, it's a much better picture than what I had of my quilt!  This is the quilt that I submitted for Artisan this past year!  I LOVE it and was so happy to see it today in the Stampin' Success magazine.  

The owls were actually made using My Digital Studio!  I know, nuts, eh?  I designed them in MDS then had them printed on iron on transfers (thanks Chris!)  Then I added the details, like the hand quilting around them, the buttons for eyes and other Big Shot cut outs.  On the Springtime vintage sections of the quilt, I traced the clear flower die (now retired) and hand quilted around this pattern!  Will I make another one....no way!  BUT it was fun to create and am tickled pink to have a great photo....thanks SU!

In the meantime, I thought I'd share some information with you about my online My Digital Studio class!  I am hosting an ONLINE class (Canadians only....so sorry!) on Monday November 28.  I will walk you through creating an adorable swatchbook calendar (that you'll have completed at the end of the class!) as well as some other treats and treasures!  You get to take this class from the comfort of your own home!  How great is that!?!?!  You will have access to the videos and content for 30 days after the class so you can review and check back!  I hope you're as excited as I am about this!  This will be a fun new experience for all of us but I know in the end we'll all learn new and fun things!  Email me for details if you're interested!

Snowman Step 2!

OK, you HAVE to watch the video today to see how this card is stepped up!  It is so fun!  I know you don't all watch videos, but this one is super fun and is a moving card......hope you like it!!!

The supplies for this card are the same as yesterday.....except you'll need your 3/4 inch circle punch and some pennies!  If you don't want the snowman to spin quite so crazy then use the 1/2 inch circle punch.  

The second photo just "proves" that the snowman moves (check out the video:)  SO FUN!

Another fun card that you can make using this fun technique is the hoola hoop girl from the Recess stamp set from the summer mini catalogue.  My mom made one for my neice for Christmas and it's ADORABLE!!!

MDS Blog Hop....Rememberance

Happy Friday to you!  For my fellow Canadians, I hope you take a few minutes today and thank a Veteran, take a moment of silence or just give it a thought about how lucky we are to live where we do!  It was my week to pick a theme for the blog hop so I decided to go on the theme of Rememberance.  It didn't have to be a page on a Veteran (although, originally that was what I was going to do), but it could be one on a loved one or really anything!

So, I decided to do an MDS page on my dad.  Well, this truly wasn't an easy task.  Part of the reason it was so difficult is just the fact that I don't have easy access to photos...digital was just coming around in my life before my dad passed away.  At some point I will start scanning my photos into my computer but for now, I work with what I've got:)

The other reason this was difficult for me, was simply the topic.  I wasn't overly inspired to create but Stampin' Up! came to the rescue!  I used their template from the smitten alphabet download.  It is an 8x8 layout (but of course I can save this as a jpeg and import it into any size square page I like!)  It was a pink and really "pretty" page but with a few clicks of the buttons I could "man it up" without any troubles!  Gotta love MDS!!!!  Thank you SU!

Final Version of the Stepped Up Card

WOW!  Thank you so much for all the positive feedback on this "theme" on my blog this week!  I will do it again soon as I've had a lot of fun with it!  Thank you!  Again, this card is completely inspired by Stacia Sloma, I fell in love when I saw her creation!  Isn't this stepped up version cute?!?!

What have I changed.....well, I started with a little scoring on the actual card front (hard to see, but it's there).  Love to add a little bit of texture.  The trees actually have the dazzling details on the little balls which really make them pop IRL (in real life:)  I added the string of pearls, and the individual pearl to add more texture and shine!  Then of course the larger heart from the triple heart punch and a cherry cobbler button!  Do you love it?!?!  Thanks Stacia for such a beautiful creation and idea!

Hate to keep it short, but a busy day ahead!  I'm excited to watch my nephew play some football today!  And I hope you're excited to come back tomorrow for the MDS blog Hop.  It was my week to pick the theme and I went with the theme of Rememberance.  I really enjoy Rememberance Day presentations (we go to the one here in Lambeth) and I love to take with our veterans at the poppy stations and thank them.  Please make sure you take the time today to do the same if you can.  They are remarkable individuals that sacrificed a lot for us!  Have a GREAT day and I'll see you again in the morning!

Step It Up Day Two - Christmas Card

You guys sure know how to put a smile on my face, thank you!  I loved the comments (and emails yesterday) thank you so much!  I'm glad you liked the card!

Can you see what I switched up from yesterday?  Ths supplies are almost the same, but not quite:)

The Old Olive Taffeta ribbon is a little more expensive than the Baker's Twine (love tying bows with this ribbon).  And then rather than punching out the Christmas trees just from card stock, I used the Pennant Parade stamp for the Christmas trees (stamped in Old Olive then punched out).

Step It Up!

Happy Tuesday to you!  I had such a fun class last night, thank you Bird, Kathy and Mom for coming!  It's nice having such a small group sometimes and the conversation was great, thank you!  I was really excited about this class (and still am) and have decided to share with you the concept and of course the cards.

I wanted to demonstrate how to make a nice simple card for those that may throw out your card, or truly don't appreciate the work that goes into one.  I know that sounds harsh, but I think most of us have a person or two like this in our lives:)  Then tomorrow I will share with you a stepped up version that you can create and share with those that know what you do and appreciate what you do!  Then on Thursday, I'll share with you a wowed up version of the card that you may make for those special recipients in your life!  We did this with two different cards last night and depending on your response to this idea, I will shoot videos for those cards as well if you like.

This grouping of cards was completely inspired by Stacia Sloma.  Thank you so much for sharing your creativity!  The other "thing" about a Step One card is that they are cost effective.  As you can see on this card, the Baker's Twine and Dimensionals are the most expensive items:)  Here is a quick supply list for you:

FREE My Digital Studio Downloads! Last Day!

Good morning! I hope you had a great weekend!  Our was eventful and fun!  Cole is officially two (his "real" birthday was yesterday), Mark's football team is on their way to the championships next weekend, Emma and I went shopping together and had fun (I am NOT a shopper and Emma truly is!) and well, Nathan just had great fun plodding along playing with everyone and anyone!

This is a post I share on the mydigitalstudio.net site this weekend and I thought I'd share it here too as I'm thrilled with this project:)  I am in LOVE with these fantastic FREE downloads Stampin' Up! has offered to us JUST BECAUSE!!! Thank you, Stampin' Up!  

When asked to create something using one or more of the downloads, I knew right away I wanted to create something for Christmas and I wanted to use the ADORABLE snowman from the Home for the Holidays Ensemble.

I decided that I'd take my Christmas pictures (or at least round one) for our Christmas card and incorporate the photos into a banner. I always end up loving more than one picture and never have them on display, so this year will be different! I love the moustache trend that is around right now and decided to use that theme of a "costume on a stick" and create a Santa, Mrs. Claus, Rudolph, and a sweet little elf.  

The banner is actually quite simple: 1. I used a punch and filled it with Whisper White. 2. I matted it with Early Espresso (size 4) and then placed a vintage overlay on top in Crumb Cake. 3. I added a photo box, used some of the new super fun digital tape (LOVING this download!), and then journaled on top of the tape.  

I repeated this 12 times over and voila . . . I had a fun, festive banner with the tune “We Wish you a Merry Christmas” journaled on the photos.

 

I thought the photo banner needed a little extra pop, so I made a mini banner to sit over the larger photo banner with the Christmas greeting. I used the Pennant Punch, filled it with the Downtown Grunge Designer Series Paper, and used the sweet little snowman from the FREE download! I did "flip" the snowman on a few of the tags so the pennants wouldn’t all look identical.

I am really excited to get my printed copy from Stampin' Up!'s print services in the next week, but in the meantime I printed one off at home to share the finished product with you.

Happy Birthday Cole!

Well, you didn't think you'd see something else today, did you?  We had a fun family day yesterday!  Thanks to everyone for coming and spending time with us!  Cole was actually asleep for the first part of the party....really for everyone's sake:)  Once he was up, I'm sure he was a little confused and overwhelmed but it didn't take long to start enjoying the food and the company!

I have to say that Cole's cake was really nothing special. His theme was farm animals and I had high hopes, but then Friday came and went and well, the sheep were cute, he didn't know the difference and no one complained:)  As you can see in the pictures, he enjoyed them!

I was surprised at how well he did opening presents.  He acutally "got it" and opened them, and like any two year old I'm sure, he wanted to play with each one and not move on!

The highlight for sure for his presents was the stroller for his baby that Sandra and family picked up for him!  It's very sweet, he pushes his baby around the house like a mad man and is happy as can be.  Last night he actually slept with the stroller folded up as well!  Love it!!!!

BIG DAY and a Christmas Card for you....

Can you believe it....we are celebrating Cole's 2nd birthday today!!!  Where did these two years go?  I can't believe it!  We are so lucky to have Cole in our family, he makes a great ending!  SO, needless to say this may be a quick post as we've got food to prep, decorations to finish, a gift to wrap and maybe even have a coffee this morning:)  I'm sure I'll have lots of pictures to share tomorrow!!!  I love this photo of Cole (so I thought I'd share it now)  I love the little chompers showing on the bottom and his clapping!  Fun stuff!

ANYHOW, I know you are not here today to hear me babble on about Cole, you want a project, right?  Well, I am LOVING the felt pieces from Stampin' Up! and came up with a card using the snowflake....it's another quick and easy one!

MDS Blog Hop

It's Friday...you know what that means!  BLOG HOP time!  I was excited about Ally's challenge - calendars!  WOW, that leaves things WIDE open!  BUT I was super excited to play with the new calendar feature on MDS.  It's WONDERFUL!  You can create a calendar using ANY of our layouts 12x12, 8 1/2 x 11, 5x5, swatchbook.....you name it, it's yours!!!  

SO, this got me thinking about when Emma was just born.  I had a baby's first year calendar and wrote just a jot note or two each day on the calendar so I could mark the milestones BIG or SMALL!  This is right along the same theme as Project Life...journaling our day to day lives!  Now, I'm not promising that I'll take a picture everyday, BUT my goal is to just at a quick glance, have a summary of our year!

I thought I'd create a sample of what I am going to do for 2012 for our past month (and who knows...maybe I'll do November and December as well!)  My thoughts are that I will create a 24 page book that will be a nice keepsake and overview of our year.

On the opposite page, I want to have a "highlight" section.  I'll ask each member of my family to recap their favourite happening in the month and have them pick a photo that best represents that moment for them.  

As you can see, the pages are fairly clean and simple...white, crisp, and focusing on the photos and journaling.

Hope you like this idea!  If you do, creating the calendar is SO stinking easy...just duplicate your page, change your month and voila...your text boxes and photo boxes are all done for you!  Just click and drag your photos in and you're done!  I hope you have a WONDERFUL day!  Prepping for Cole's birthday party today and being a taxi tonight!!!  Love Fridays!

my lil' pumpkins

I am so stinkin excited today!  I had the BEST class last night, and feel so rejuvinated, thank you ladies!!! (Susan, Katherine, Brenda, Lisa, Mom, Christine, Linda, Barb and Steph!!!)  Thank you for coming and for those of you that weren't there, I will share in due time:)  (that means once I get my act together and either shoot a video or take a picture:)

In the meantime, I have our annual pumpkin carving photos to share.  The background of this page is FREE coming soon to YOU!!!!  Next week Stampin' Up! is giving away FREE downloads!  Here's the deal...even if you don't own My Digital Studio, you NEED to download them!  It will just be a small file on your computer to have and to hold and you can then have it FREE for when you decide to make the plunge (or even play with the downloads in another program that accepts graphic files!)  Fun, hey!!!

Quick and Easy Christmas Card

Howdy!  I hope you are having a great week so far!!!  I can't believe it's already Wednesday!  I am so excited for my class tonight!! 

I completely forgot (in all my excitement to share the kids' Halloween costumes) that yesterday was MDS download day!  WOW, there are two amazing ones (well, really they are all great BUT I HAD to have 2 of them) - Frost Ensemble (I know that's not the right wording but it's the kit from yesterday (AMAZING!) and a new snowflake punch (actually 2!)  LOVE IT!

Rather than boring you with MDS again today (OK, really I'm not quite done the pages) I thought I'd share a quick Christmas card idea with you.  This card would be SUPER easy to reproduce but offers a "punch" and a "pow" with the felt, dry embossing and dimensions!

I actually shot a video just to show you how QUICK this card is...under 2 minutes!  Here is your quick supply list:

Happy Halloween....the day after!

Well, last night was so much fun!!!  I absolutely LOVE Halloween (no shocker there!)  For those of you that have followed my blog for sometime, you know that every other year we do a family theme.  Well, this year was not my year:(  BUT I will say the kids did a GREAT job of choosing their costumes!  We all spent time together making the costumes and preparing for the big "haul".  Despite the rain, we had so much fun last night!  I was exhausted though so only got two of my pages done to share with you (yes, I am that retentive that because the costumes didn't match I had to do a separate page for each child!)

I should start by thanking Erica Shaw for the layouts today!  She completely inspired me on finishing these pages.  If you have never checked out her gallery I encourage you to do so over at www.mydigitalstudio.net!  (she's also on our weekly blog hop!)  I also have David Dooley to thank for the crown idea on Emma's costume.  We were stumped and he came to the rescue....it's made from wire coat hangers then covered in bling - so smart!

Emma wanted to go out as a "Toddler and Tiara" Beauty pagaent girl.  I find this so funny as this is the exact opposite of my usual girl!  We had fun making everything for this outfit....the skirt, shirt, sash, crown!  Thanks Emma for the time together!

Nathan worships Mark and loves that he plays football.  So it was a given that he wanted to go out as a football player.  BUT rather than wearing Mark's football team we convinced him to go out as Troy Polamalu....right down to the hair style!  This costume was a big hit, and the best part is it cost me $3!!!  We had everything except the hair.  I went to the dollar store and bought three black ponytail entensions.  I then sewed it onto a winter hat and voila....Troy's hair!
