Happy Wednesday to you! Sorry for the late blog post, it was a rough and late night with my boys last night. Not that I'm complaining as I know these things happen but man I sure do love a full night's rest:) I realize I'm getting "older" as I used to be able to stamp into the wee hours of the morning and now I'm a PUMPKIN (or maybe witch) by midnight! Anyone else feel that way?
ANYWHO..... I've been pretty slow at getting my Pittsburgh album done. Normally I get my trips scrapbooked within a week of being home, but not this time. I suppose it's been a busy summer with lots of photos but my goal is to get this done in the next few weeks.
It's funny, when I create a trip book I usually always do a double page layout. When I make a family album most of my pages are singles...not sure why! I am doing this book in the 11x81/2 size...I love this size album.
I hope you like today's pages! If I get my way, I'll be back this afternoon wit a stamped project as well!
Have a great morning!
Heather
(Did you check out the downloads yesterday? You KNOW I'll be getting the football one for sure!)
Have I sold you on this paper or this colour combination yet? I am in LOVE with Pool Party, Soft Suede and More Mustard (Sonia, I know you are too!!!) Seriously, do you like it!?!
I know this is a big tease, but this paper is available in just a few days (if only it were part of the SU DSP deal on right now...buy 3 get one free, I would stock up!)
For this card I randomly stamped off the main images in either the Soft Suede or More Mustard and then did the outline images in the full intensity. The layers are sponged in More Mustard.
I like the way the ribbon is on the right side of the card with the brad overlapping it. Just a different little twist (usually I do ribbon on the left).
Anyhow, I do apologize for the quick post but it's a busy day up ahead for us! Have a wonderful day!
OK, this set is a MUST have! I just had the best evening playing with this set! Adam worked hard outside all day and the kids and Adam were all in bed by 9:30...so you know what that means....crafting for Heather! I had so much fun!
This is going to be a class I am offering and I can't wait...hope you can make it! We will be making 8 full sized cards and a holder during the class! The are all very clean and simple cards and the best part is you can reproduce this class idea time and time again for gifts, hostess thank yous, teacher presents....anything you want!!!
Here are the details for the class:
Wednesday September 7th at 7 pm
We will make 8 full sized cards AND a box
All of the cards have sewing machine sewing on them (this will be predone for you)
Payment options are either $25 which includes the supplies needed to make the cards and box plus a full package of Brights Buttons OR $47 that includes all of the above plus the stamp set in clear
In the meantime, here are the details for this particular card:
I have had a few emails lately from some new friends that have been really exciting to receive so I thought I would answer a few of their common questions in this post quickly for you.
What is Stampin' Up!? It is a paper crafting company that carries top of the line rubber stamps, embellishments, paper and so much more! It has a beautiful (and big) Idea Book and Catalogue that is full of beautiful samples that can demonstrate some projects made with their project.
What is my association with Stampin' Up!? How does it work? I am an independent demonstrator, which means that I am free to host classes and workshops and sell their product by sharing what I love to do....craft!!! I am a demonstrator for Canada only. This means if you'd like to purchase product to make your own creations, you must live in Canada to purchase from me. Also, if you think this is something you would like to do, you must be Canadian to be a member of my team. BUT anyone is welcome to view my blog and share in what I love to do!!!
How do I get Stampin' Up! supplies? You can order them directly through me by emailing me at adamsum@yahoo.com and I will order your wish list and have it shipped directly to you OR you can visit my online store at www.heathersummers.stampinup.net
What is MDS? My Digital Studio is a digital designing program. I primarily use it to create bound scrapbooks for my family. However, the possibilities truly are endless...homework assignments, individual pages, multiple different print options, fabric crafts....check out www.mydigitalstudio.net for more samples and ideas!
Alrighty, I've chatted your ear off enough! I am heading off to start the day! Have a great one and thank you for stopping by!
NOT ME!!! Did I have you worried there with the title! The day I write that you know that I have gone over the edge! I do like dogs but I have ZERO desire to own one of my own! Mitts (our sweet cat) is more than enough work for me!
But, my good friend Anne got herself a rescue puppy and she is ADORABLE! I went over to meet her the other night and she truly was perfect...happy to be laying next to you, not barking....pretty cute too! Not enough though to push me over:)
ANYHOW, I had to make a card for her and unfortunately I didn't have a dog card on hand (not one I usually stock:) so I whipped this up and am thrilled with the final card! The only downfall is the fact that I don't have very many dog stamps:) But the Every Little Bit set has just that...a little bit of everything:)
So, onto the card.... It's tough to see in this photo but there are white hearts stamped on the background of this card above the DSP.
Happy Saturday to you! Hope you have some fantastic plans for this weekend...relaxing, stamping, spending time with family...whatever it may be, have fun! We don't have too much on the go, Adam is working on finishing some stuff around the house and I'm FINALLY finalizing my September classes and calendar...so keep your eyes peeled for my upcoming classes and clubs:)
Alrighty, onto today's project! I can not take credit for this idea, it is beautifully displayed in the holiday mini catalogue and as soon as I saw it I knew I had to make one! So some of the lollies are made using the method I demonstrated on my blog a week or so ago, and the other lollies are created using a scallop circle. Today's video demonstrates how easy it is to make this wreath using the scalloped circles as well.
To decorate the wreath I used an assortment of centres...fabric, vintage brads, the new super cool buttons (you can order on Sept 1st) and some punches. Truly you can use anything here for yours. I hope you enjoy the project and are as in LOVE with this Designer Series Paper as I am! I just LOVE LOVE LOVE the Spice Cake paper and think it might just be my favourite paper EVER!!!
The lollies range in diameter from 2 to 4 inches. (except the two small scalloped edged lollies they are the hand punch from SU).
I hope you like today's fun project! I had fun making it and if you come by, make sure you check it out in the entrance way:) Have a WONDERFUL Saturday!!!!
Well, I am on cloud nine! I have just had the best week of stamping with friends! Thank you to each of you that I got to create with.....both personally and also through clubs! I am a happy woman and it's because of SO MANY OF YOU!!! Thank you! I am glad you are enjoying the videos....there are more to come so please check back tomorrow! I'm getting pretty excited about some projects I've been working on!!!!
Alrighty, back to the reason you're here....a creation! Well, I'm sure you've caught on that Friday is our MDS blog hop! I love this week's theme....ALL BOY! Not hard for me as I have a house full (and lots of photos to go with it:) This week's page is a fun one for me, I love these photos of Nathan! He is such a ham and these photos sure show it!
Oh....side note....a few of you have asked how I organize my thousands of photos (right now from March of this year to current I have 12000 photos....seriously!!!) Anyhow, I just use iPhoto and have them sorted there by event. After I print an MDS book and am done scrapbooking photos, I then transfer them to a hard drive and delete them off my computer. Hope that helps! Love to hear if you do anything different!!!
Well, have a GREAT day! It's Friday....only one more week until....AHHHH!!! Ok, we don't go there yet!
Well, this describes our night last night! Not really, but I'm glad to hear those that were at my home last night all made it home safely. I hope that you all had a safe night, it was quite the storm!
I love this stamp set, it just makes me smile! It's a little tough to see in the photo but he is coloured using chalks, markers and a little Dazzling Details were added as well (a liquid glitter that releases September 1st!)
Happy Thursday to you! I just wanted to let you know that I will be back today with a post! I had a unique and super fun club last night. We had tornado warnings in our area and some huge rain, thunder and lightening. One of my lovelies, Sundee, lives 1.5 hours away and was having to drive into the storm. SO.....rather than risk her safety, we had a fabulous house guest!!! Thanks for staying Sundee!!!! So, I'll be back later this morning with a blog post for you:) Hope your day is off to a great start!!!
Happy Wednesday to you!!! I hope your week is going super duper well! Ours is so busy but great fun! My boys have all had haircuts (including Cole....his first haircut!!!) I'll share a picture soon:) I love a fresh cut, although it saddens me as I know that these haircuts mean back to school is coming soon (ahhh...lunches and 3 kids off to school...won't go there yet!) Mark started football last night and is so excited for the upcoming season. He was so excited to tell me he saw his friend Finn and Matt...so cute! OK...enough of my babbling...you're here to see my card not hear about our week!
I've decided to introduce another word to the stamping world (actually it's already been used on Facebook...but I'll introduce it here on my blog). I've Tenealized my card! (this means the card uses the stamp set French Foliage....if you don't own this set, you should....truly! It's perfect for that little something you need on a card!)
This set makes me so happy! I love to two step stamp. Having a more bold background stamp in a lighter colour and a detailed stamp on the top in a darker shade makes the image come to life! I hope you can see that here!
Alrighty, I hope you like the video today that shows how to put this card together! And thank you again Teneale for the inspiration (layout, ribbon, stamps.....you are an inspiration!!!!)
This year I have decided to stamp out of my comfort zone. This stamp set is not one that I originally would have purchased or even really looked at in the catalogue. (I'm being honest:) BUT we were given this set at Convention. SO, I am starting something new this year....if I'm given a stamp set, I'm going to use it! Seems so simple, yet I don't always do that So, here's my card.....
Since I don't have a video for you today, I thought I'd share the dimensions for you with the supply list:
Crumb Cake Card Stock (120953) - 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2, Word Window
I hope you like today's card....not sure if the photo does it justice, but it really is a pretty card! Can't wait to share with you some of my projects I've been working on.....HALLOWEEN!!!! You guys told me last year I could start displaying Halloween in my house and on my blog come Labour Day....so hang on tight as I can't wait to share with you soon!!! (Thanks again Sonia for a SUPER fun crafting day!!!!)
Hugs,
Heather
Oh, and who can forget.....it's Tuesday!!!! MDS Download Day....CLICK HERE to see this week's newest additions!!!
Happy Monday to you! I hope you all had a FANTASTIC weekend! I sure did! Cottage on Saturday, downline potluck lunch on Sunday...and club tonight! Can it get any better!
I am SUPER excited to share today's project with you! I am recently OBSESSED with paper buttons! I have made about 50 in the last little while and was waiting to share this project and video with you until I share some presents at my downline meeting yesterday! So, now I can show you!
First, a few of you asked the other day how I got the wire on the back of my flowers so let me "deal" with that one. I put a brad on the back of the flower with the ends poking through the flower layers (the backs are hidden behind the buttons) and then I just wrapped the wire around the brad and voila....a secured flower:)
Check out my video on how to make these paper buttons. Below I have included the supply list to make the buttons (if you have questions about the other supplies don't hesitate to ask:)
Well, we are home safe and sound! I know you've heard me say it a million times before but I LOVE THE COTTAGE!!! It is such a happy place for me! A world with NO distractions except my family....it's undivided attention for all of us and the toughest decision in a day is what to eat!
I didn't pack an ounce of stamping supplies (I ran out of time!) but I did take my computer:) So, I got a ton of MDSing done! I've done about 15 pages from the cottage and a couple from Pittsburgh. I'll have to get the Pittsburgh album done sooner than later, but I was having fun scrapping the cottage!
I was feeling a little unmotivated by my 15th page (and it was like midnight!) but I really wanted to get a page done with the toads. My kids spent HOURS looking for toads so it deserves a page...or two....or ten:)
This page is actually a template from the Downtown Grunge download! I love this kit (as I'm sure you've ready before) and these frames rock! So, I used the template provided, switched out the DSP in the circles, added my title and journaling and voila the page was complete!
That's it! The rest of the supplies are in the Downtown Grunge kit! Fun, eh? Well, I am off to Emma's cheer gathering (not 100% sure what we're getting into today at 8 am....I think an MS walk...will keep you posted:) Have yourself a great day and I'll be back tomorrow with a video and some photos from my downline potluck!
Happy Saturday to you! Can you believe another week has passed us by? Well, it was an amazing week for me! I just spent the last week in my most FAVOURITE location....the cottage! I don't know why I love the cottage so much as we do a fair amount of traveling and have seen so many amazing things, but the cottage is just like home to me. A place where I can relax, enjoy and just take life moment by moment! I love it and I think the kids do too! (Nathan especially!) I'll have more stories to share in MDS posts and pages in the near future I'm sure....considering I took over 1000 photos! Yes, 1000 photos of a place we go to every summer! LOVE IT!
I'm calling today a "Teneale" card. For those of you that don't know of Teneale...where have you been! Kidding, but in all honesty you need to check out her blog as she is amazing! Anyhow, I think Teneale is THE reason that SU brought the French Foliage stamp set back into the big catalogue from a past mini! She uses it on SO many of her cards and it just adds to the card (it's the little splotches, cursive writings and circle stamp.) They are hard to see, but they sure do add to this card!
This is actually a card I made for Adam. I would have added a little more "fluff" (Adam's words!) if it weren't for him as I think the flirty Coral ribbon would have been great on this card! The colours on this card are Riding Hood Red, Calypso Coral, Soft Suede and Very Vanilla. (the stems are Always Artichoke as well:) Aren't these colours yummy together? I think so!
Sorry for the quick post today....but we're playing catch up today and have lots of fun things like laundry and yard work to do...my favourites! Here is the supply list for you:

Good day to you! I will apologize now, but today's post is a quick one! A friend of mine is having a baby girl so I thought I'd begin by making her an album to showcase those first days together! I haven't created the 6x6 scrapbook pages (but I will!) and YES, I'll share them with you.
This is the really sweet 6x6 Beau Chateau album that of course matches the DSP and embellishments from the same line. I wanted to just add a little more of a personal touch on the front of the album so I made this little "B" tag. Check out the video for some tips and tricks on using the chipboard and for creating this tag.
I hope you are enjoying seeing the bits and pieces that I'm showing in my stamp classroom (which by the way will be up and running full steam ahead in just a few short weeks! To my local ladies, you've been so patient with it being summer and family time, but you know come fall....classes and clubs get rolling!!!) Enjoy your day!
Well, we are off to a great start on my little APP challenge! Remember, if we get 350 people downloading my APP THIS WEEK, then I will shoot five WOW videos over the course of the next few weeks! Won’t that be fun (for all of us!) If you’re not sure what I’m talking about, check back to Monday’s post and read all about it! If you want to download my APP (it’s a FREE one!) then click on the APP button on my side toolbar to download it yourself!
Onto today’s project….aren’t the colours of the Berry Blossom Designer Series Paper fun! They just make me so happy! After I made the flower pot for my display I knew I wanted to have lots of cards and other 3D items on display (which you’ll see later) so I started with these little gems. I LOVE the new stamp set Button Buddies and I wanted to showcase this set with a few different embellishments and match it up with this DSP! Can you tell I had fun?
This first card I think is my favourite...although that snail really is ADORABLE! Here is a quick run down of this card for you....the flower from the Button Buddies was rock and rolled in Lucky Limeade then Old Olive. It was stamped on a piece of Whisper White card stock (2 5/8 x 1 3/4). The greeting was stamped in Lucky Limeade and mounted on a piece of Berry Blossom DSP (2 5/8 x 2 5/8). This layer was then attached to a piece of Lucky Limeade card stock (2 3/4 x 2 3/4) which is on the Early Espresso card (3 x 6 scored at 3).
This next card is again on Early Espresso (3 x 6 scored at 3). The next layer is none other than the beautiful Calypso Coral (2 3/4 x 2 3/4). The DSP is again from Berry Blossom (2 5/8 x 2 5/8). The stamped image was coloured with markers (Lucky Limeade and Calypso Coral) and stamped on Whisper White (1 x 2 1/2) and layered on Calypso Coral (1 1/8 x 2 5/8). The flowers are created using the Itty Bitty Punch Pack and Wysteria Wonder card stock. Rather than the buttons I wanted to use the punched paper and neutral brads (although buttons would be super cute!)
And this last card today is another quick one. It's Early Espresso base (3 x 6 scored at 3), Calypso Coral card stock (2 3/4 x 2 3/4), Berry Blossom DSP (2 5/8 x 2 5/8) and Whisper White card stock 1 1/4 x 2 1/8. The little cutie is stamped in Calypso Coral and the greeting is in Wisteria Wonder. I added the In Colour Brad rather than a button on this little guy:) Fun, eh?
I think I'm going to make up three more of these little cards and get a box set ready to share! Love it! In the meantime, here is today's supply list for you:
One of the highlights for me while visiting any Stampin’ Up! event is enjoying the beautiful creations made by Stampin’ Up! and other talented demonstrators. This year’s display was no exception! The flower garden area (I’m sure they had a much more creative name for it than that!) was amazing! If you’re on the net, I’m sure you’ve seen a million photos of the area and would agree. Well, I was completely inspired to come home and create a similar (but WAY smaller scale) version of some of the Stampin’ Up! displays. I try and decorate and stamp according to upcoming seasons, but often Halloween displays run into Christmas and somewhere in there I forgot fall and winter. So, this year I’ve decided to try something new in my Stampin’ Up! classroom and I’ve been working on smaller displays that I can keep up year round showcasing our beautiful products. Over the next few weeks I’ll share with you a video of my classroom and it’s display, but in the meantime, I wanted to share some of the elements I am most proud of.
I loved all the flowers and different types that were on display at Convention. I’m not very handy or original when it comes to designing my own flowers, but I can copy! I love the simplicity of these flowers and I think they match the whimsical feel of the Designer Series Paper, Berry Blossoms.
To cover the pot, I simply Hodge Podged the DSP to the outside of the pot in strips. They don’t match up perfectly, but I’m okay with that! The rim was done in a different pattern and then I simply tied some of our flirty Calypso Coral ribbon around the edge and secured the bow with an In Colour Brad.
The middle of the pot is filled with shredded up DSP that I then crinkled and shoved in. I actually have a piece of foam about halfway down the pot that I hot glued a few of the shredded pieces to, in hopes of just holding it down (and of course so Mitts – our cat – doesn’t get tempted to eat the paper).
The flowers are all made using the Island Floral Big Shot Die. After they were created I spritzed them with a little smoosh to give the impression of a fresh spring rain. Not sure this was necessary, but I do love the extra little sparkle!
I hope you like my paper creation today! I had a lot of fun putting this one together! I can’t wait to share more with you from my displays! I’ve had lots of fun stamping lately!
Happy Monday to you! Let me begin by saying THANK YOU to so many of you for your super kind words and comments last week! I loved reading your comments from the Artisan Blog Hop. Thank you! I'm still on cloud nine and appreciate the emails and comments!
Also a HUGE thank you for not only the kind words, but also the kind ratings and comments about my APP! I am so excited about having the APP and having so many of you share this fun new idea with me! So, I have a challenge for YOU!!!! If over the course of this week, I over 350 more people download my APP I'll shoot five videos for you of my most requested cards....like the Artisan baby block card! What do you think???? So, pass along the information about my app (click on the APP link on my sidebar) and I'll report the progress on Monday!!! So are you up for the challenge???
OK, onto today's card. Do you ever need a quick card that you're proud to pass along? Well, this is one of those cards for me.
It's Sunday! What a great week we've had! Adam has been working so hard on the outside of our house working on finishing the siding on the back of the house. Our renovation has been a four year process so getting this done this summer is a relief I think for all of us:)
Anyhow, you aren't stopping by for a family update...you want paper crafting!!! If you're a party planner or a blog hopper you've seen these flowers all over! I have made these before but made them WRONG! I tried just using adhesive and of course it fell apart. I finally thought of a different way (shown in the video) that made it so much easier! I'm sure it isn't a "Heather original" idea, but coming up with this alternative sure made me happy!
The bottom flower uses 20 inches of 1 inch paper strips. (I used a 12 inch strip and an 8 inch strip). The middle flower uses 24 inches of 1 1/2 inch paper strips. The biggest flower is a 2 inch radius and uses 24 inches. They are all scored at 1/2 inch increments. I then accordian folded the paper and hole punched near the middle edge using the crop-o-dile. I then threaded linen thread through the holes and tied it shut. I adhered the seams together with sticky strip so the paper made a complete circle. (again, check out the video for a more complete explanation of how to make these little gems:)
One of the highlights of winning the Artisan award was the Artisan dinner. Not only was the company amazing, and the food delicious, but we did an Artisan swap! This was SO much fun! We swapped with the 10 Artisans plus the two concept artists. Now I will share their posts in the coming weeks, but for now I thought I'd do the "day after" post be my swap (because that's the only one I have a picture of so far....)
I decided to do an MDS project to share, thinking it would be a little different than what the others were swapping. This is one of our clear cases (that stamps come in) and I designed a cover for it, printed it from a local print shop. I personalized each of them on the front of the case.
Then inside the case I made a little tag or bookmark using the swatchbook. I used the same DSP as the cover (don't you love it!) and then made it hybrid. I used the halfback pearls on the top and the bottom of the frame (under their monogram).
In the top left corner I threaded ribbon through the hole, and secured it with a vintage brad. From the ribbon I dangled a pearl charm and a crown (some received different crowns or keys or a black bauble).
The colours on the tag are Cherry Cobbler, Elegant Eggplant and River Rock.
On the back of the tag I typed out the statement of the heart. It wasn't too labour intensive, but I am happy with the end result! HOpe you are too!
Thank you so much to each of you that enjoyed the hop and stopped by. I'll have a video for you tomorrow and another project to share!
It's Friday! Are you excited? I love Fridays!!! Thank you for those of you that are stopping by from Summer's blog! Has her work not been out of this world! I loved all of her projects, but I think her Kimono Kids card was my favourite! The attention to detail and tiny little pieces blew me away! Thanks for sharing your talents with us, Summer!
Today's project was probably my favourite yet I have the worst photos of it! I was so excited to be DONE this project as it took a while, that I completely forgot to take a picture of it before I shipped it off! I was devastated when I realized that as I may not have ever seen it again! I'm okay with handing over the projects and not getting them back from SU, but I was a little sad with not having a photo! So if you happen to have a better picture of this project, I'd love to see it:) Thank you so much!!!
Alrighty, enough of my sob story....here are the details! The owls were created in MDS and filled with DSP in MDS. I then printed the owls on iron on transfer (actually my great friend Christine helped out in this department...thanks Chris!) and then I used a professional company to iron on the images onto the vanilla fabric. The eyes are all made out of buttons. I used a few different dies to embellish the quilt. I had stitched around each of the owls, the embellishments and then on the fabric squares I hand stitched the big flower die (that is now retired). The edge of the quilt is our wide striped grosgrain ribbon pleated and stitched on:) I am excited to create another quilt with the new fabric coming out in the holiday mini. I found quilting to be quite relaxing and I love the final look!
Thank you so much for your kind comments and emails this week as you've participated in our Artisan Blog Hop! I'm hoping the group of us will do something again soon:) As I'm sure you've seen, the nine other demonstrators are ridiculously talented and their work blew me away! Thank you ladies for sharing with all of us and for loving what you do!
Have a wonderful weekend! I'll be back tomorrow with a video post for you:) Take care,
Well, I must admit, I was hoping to put my fellow blog hoppers through the ringer with this week's challenge (it was my turn to pick the challenge and in typical Heather style I wanted to do something like 2 photos, no blue, birthday theme and you can't use the letter "e" on your page.....) but I thought I'd get kicked out of the club! Actually we were away last weekend for a super fun family holiday to Pittsburgh! WOW, what an amazing city! If you're from there, I do apologize, that I had something completely different in my head as to what the area would look like. It was STUNNING....hills and trees EVERYWHERE...I mean EVERYWHERE! I'm not too sure how you get around Pittsburgh in the winter as the streets were CRAZY hilly and some sidewalks were stairs because it was such a steep incline....anyhow, more of that for a later date! In the meantime...this week's challenge: birthday! Pretty simple, right? Well, here's my take on it!
The two main elements on this page are:
Tickets and Tags (a new download this week that is SO SUPER FUN!) and
Patterned Party (another new download this week.....the birthday stamped images on this page)
All of the embellishments, DSP and strips are from the Tickets and Tags download. I just love it! Emma is working on making all her binder covers, binder dividers, labels and school supplies with this digital kit for school. (I bought her the lunch bag from Convention so she wants to match everything to that...I love my girl!)
There really isn't anything too fancy with this page, but I do demonstrate a few little tricks on this week's MDS video if you're interested!
I appreciate your stopping by and I hope you enjoy the "hop".
Good morning! I am so excited to share with you that I have an APP! I am new to this "app" world and even some forms of technology! But I am eager to learn more and share more!
SO.....if you're interested, have an iphone, ipad or ipod you can download my app for FREE and enjoy my blog and other perks from the comfort of your hand held technology!!!
As I learn more about the app world I will continue to develop and add to this to share what I love with you....Stampin' Up!
I would love for you to test it out, give me feedback and share with me what you'd like to see happen with my app! Thank you so much for ALL that each of you do and thank you for your ongoing support!!!
Here is my final card that I submitted for Artisan. I'd have to say this might be my favourite but just by a smidge. This card took me about 18 hours to complete....which is ridiculous for a card, but I couldn't stop! I just had to paper piece the teeniest morsels and pop things and embellish and well, you can tell I'm sure by the photos:)
I like the outside of the card, but it isn't my favourite part. I paper pieced most of the main image using the Nursery DSP from last year's catalogue. The card actually has a "spine" on it that is about 1/2 an inch thick as well (you'll see why in the next photo:)
I really love this colour combination of Baja and Pear...so soft and pretty. The inside of the card was completely inspired by a Christmas card my mom made me that popped out. As soon as I saw her card idea I thought I needed to make something similar using baby blocks.
I created the banner using the smallest oval punch we sell and using only half of it. Then the itty bitty punch pack circles were put on the fun little ovals. Each block has a top and one side and I just selected the images from this baby set (forget the name) and paired them up with a different letter:)
I wish that I made two of these cards just to have a sample. I'm not sure I'd make another one (although it'd be WAY faster the second time....like only a few hours tops now that I know the pattern and layout:)
Thanks for stopping by today for our daily Artisan hop:) I'm sure you were completely inspired by Summer and will be wowed by Connie if you haven't already been! Hope you have a wonderful day and I'll see you again tomorrow for our last Artisan blog hop (for now:)
Like my dress card the other day, this idea came somewhat last minute. My first 3D project took a ridiculous amount of time so I knew I needed to make something with a neat concept but wouldn't take me a million hours! This is what I came up with and I was a happy girl.
Yes, I know first let me explain the photos...then the process. When you submit for Artisan you can't submit a photo of yourself. So, yes, this is Adam and his sister in our family tree frame. And yes, I love all four of my children BUT four frames didn't look as good in the frame AND my mom had used photos of Cole, SO three children and sortof a set of parents! You will never look at this photo the same way now that you know that:) (Thank you Sandra and Adam for letting me use your photos like this:)
OK, onto the frame. I used MDS to create the message along the bottom as well as the frame along the right hand side and bottom. I also used MDS and the "branched out" download to create the tree. I printed out the tree on card stock, then traced it onto the Basic Black. It's hard to see in the photo, but I embossed all the words from the Wonderful Favourites stamp set in Black embossing powder on the tree (words such as sister, mother, cousin, uncle).
I attached the photos to the bevelled windows and secured the ribbon on with the Antique Brads. The final step was to punch out a bunch of the flowers using the Itty Bitty Punch Pack in Pink Pirouette and Pretty In Pink. After attaching them, I used the pearls in the middles just to add some dimension.
Thank you so much for stopping by today and I'll be back tomorrow with my final Artisan card.
Guess what....before we do the blog hop today...it is TUESDAY!!! You know what that means!!! My Digital Studio download day! I LOVE Tuesdays!!! CLICK HERE to see the newest downloads...you won't be disappointed!!!
Okey Dokey....onto my second last card. I think this is almost tied as being my favourite card. I'm not sure why I love it so much, but I think the colouring and the colours just make me happy!
I used the Build A Bear stamp set and elements to create this card. The "noses" on the bears are stamped and cut out, then popped up to add dimension. The bag is also stamped and cut out. The tissue paper in the bag is actually the fabric from one of the super cute fabric brads we had in the spring mini catalogue last year.
I love the sewing on this card and I think it really adds to the card (including the zig zag on the greeting). It sounds so funny, but sewing the circle (did this by hand cranking the sewing machine as I can barely sew a straight line) and cutting the grass were the toughest parts. It's funny when creating cards such as this, where you spend your time and efforts:)
I hope you like today's card!!! Have fun checking out Connie's post today and I'll see you again tomorrow for my first 3D project:) Take care,
I hope you had a wonderful weekend! I can't wait to share with you the MDS pages I've created from our weekend (fill you in when the blog hop is done:) In the meantime, I've got my last scrapbook page to share with you. Again, this is my Nathan. These photos were taken this past winter, so are the most recent of the photos I used for my scrapbook pages.
Now for those of you that know me, I am a HUGE fan of MDS and typically that is how I choose to scrapbook. Now in saying that, I only used MDS on this scrapbook page and I made it a hybrid page...how funny is that!?!?
When I created this page, I knew I wanted to use the Red Glimmer paper for the title. As I created the title I realized I wanted my page to be even more "hybrid". So the photo layer of Nathan is cut out and popped up (I actually ordered 5 pages from SU, not knowing how/what I was going to do:)
The glimmer brads are all "real" and the two snowflakes that have the glimmer brads were punched with the snowflake punch out of the glossy SU paper.
I don't remember all the MDS elements I used to create this page, but if you have a specific question, feel free to email me and I'll do my best to figure it out:)
I thought I should mention to you (because I'm hoping I've convinced at least ONE of you to enter Artisan this year!) that when you create a scrapbook page there are a few restrictions. It has to be 12x12, or 8 1/2 x 11. And your page has to have a title and journaling on the page (although journaling can be as minimal as a date). So as much as I typically create 12x12 pages, I wanted to share another layout idea and size to demonstrate some versatility:)
OK, enough of my babbling....Connie is waiting for you:) Enjoy the rest of your blog hop and I hope you enjoy your week! Take care,
Day 5 already! We are half way there! Sandi emailed to ask me what my favourite project was that I submitted. That is a really tough question. I have favourites for different reasons, but I think three of my cards and my one 3D project were my favourites. This card is one of them (and the two cards you'll be seeing in days to come:)
This card was a fun one to create and I was fortunate that it just "came to me" late one night and I was able to go from thinking about it to making it in about an hour. Most of my other cards I drew sketches for or laid out my products and seemed to think about them for a long time, but this one just happened.
I used the dress form from the Sew Suite stamp set directly on the card stock. I then stamped it on my brayer and rolled the brayer on some Vanilla card stock. This created the reverse image and I cut out the top of the dress form and attached it to the card front. Each dress I embellished differently (necklace, patterned shirt and flower). I also used the pom pom trim on the daffodil skirt. I actually sewed this on(and wanted to curse while doing it:)
There are a few features on this card I love. The first is the sewing from the sewing machine...I love the way they framed the images. The second is the "sew sweet" greeting. I had a personalized stamp made by SU for a card we did in club earlier that month and I decided to use it on this card as well. The last thing is the spool of thread behind the greeting. I like how I sponged the layer and included a "real" needle on the card. I hope you like it too!
Thank you so much for stopping by today! Don't forget to continue venturing through the Artisan loop:) Have a great rest of your weekend!
Are you on a crafting high yet from all the amazing samples you are seeing! I keep going back and clicking on the samples everyone has made and just seeing new things each time and being wowed OVER and OVER again!!! Thank you ladies for sharing all your hard work! If you're just coming from Summer's blog, thank you! I've already said it, but I'll say it again...isn't she amazing!!! I really think that Summer is a VERY talented and thoughtful crafter (no wonder she has won Artisan 3 times...yup, 3!!! - sorry Summer, had to brag about you for a moment:)
So, today's scrapbook page was my favourite scrapbook page I submitted. I've realized though that scrapbooking truly is about emotions and memories and these photos I hold close to my heart. It was a beautiful beach day and Nathan had a blast. He sat in the same spot on the beach for what seemed like hours digging up the sand and dumping it on his head! He was a ROYAL mess by the end, but as happy as a lark!
It's tough to see the details on this page, but I did a fair amount of machine sewing around each of the layers or DSP and on the hearts. The white is actually our SU vinyl frame. I love how it added a different texture to the page. Also adding the little heart inside the button made me happy. The colours on this page are Crumb Cake, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White and Real Red. The Whisper White card stock is smooth, but the Tempting Turquoise and Real Red are textured. Underneath my watermark I also stamped my journaling for the page (I forget what it says, but it was from the Messages for Mom stamp set:)
Well, I hope you're having fun on our blog hop journey and I know you won't be disappointed when you head on over to Connie's blog! Isn't her work AWESOME? And you want to know a little tidbit about Connie (I sure am dishing the dirt today!)....she is one organized woman! She keeps us organized, on the ball and ready!!! We appreciate all Connie has done for our group! Thank you Connie!!! Alrighty, have a wonderful weekend and I'll be back again tomorrow with another card!
It's Friday! Can you believe it!?!? Where did the week go? I hope you are having a great time on our blog hop! I am truly enjoying it each morning....it's a highlight for me!!! Now a few of you have asked if I'll be back with cards/projects and videos....for sure I will, but it may not be until after the blog hop is done...we shall see! I do have some just waiting in You Tube to be made public...evil, I know!!!!
Alrighty, back to the hop! This was one of my cards I was "unsure" if I'd send. I created 7 cards and had to "eliminate" two of them. A few of my friends selected this one to not be included but for some strange reason I was really drawn to it and wanted to send it in my entry. I think the colours, and my colouring won me over (and the fact that it's one of my favourite stamp sets:)
This card was fairly simple in terms of the execution. I really wanted to demonstrate my precision on this card and paid close attention to my layers and cutting. I also used a few products on this card. The banner and the scallop Olive edges are from the birthday "kit" in last year's catalogue (you know the embellishment packs that match the DSP). I thought it would be fun to use another product on the card. The banner was punched using the star punch and I trimmed the scallop to make a smaller edge.
"He" is water coloured with a blender pen and ink pad. I had to mask the skateboard and the monster's hand when I stamped the images here.
I hope you like this little munchkin! Thanks so much for stopping by today!!! Enjoy the sunshine:) Take care,
Well, I hope you stopped by today for a little bit of exercise! Guess why.....
YOU HAVE THE ARTISAN BLOG HOP OPTION TODAY...Check out the 10 projects of the day from all the wonderfully talented Artisan winners.....AND
STARTING TODAY EVERY FRIDAY A GROUP OF US ARE DOING AN MDS BLOG HOP! Can't wait to share with you!
The way our MDS blog hop will work, is one of us will present a little challenge each week to the team and we have to create our projects accordingly. So sweet Erica Shaw has really been the "founder" of this hop and set out our first challenge....back to school! Well, thankfully here in Ontario (Canada) we are only just done half of our summer holidays so this challenge was perfect for me...plan ahead! For those of you that don't know me, that's something I don't do very often:) So Erica, thank you for this wonderful idea!
I decided to create a hybrid project for this week. For the longest time I didn't know what a hybrid project was (even though I was creating them!) Hybrid simply means taking the 2D digital creations and making it 3D (or as Emma says, turning it into a REAL project:) These cards and tags were created in MDS, then printed and then I added the "real" to the cards by using "real" brads and for the tags I used "real" ribbon to embellish them! Fun, hey!
Nathan starts school this fall (I'm SO sad...full day everyday!) but he has wonderful teachers (I can't wait!!!) He is so excited to go to school and wanted to make his teachers a card. So he helped me pick the elements to use on the card in MDS and has written a little message to his two teachers inside the card for the first day! How cute is he!?!?
Here is a list of the elements from MDS I used for this card:
Hodgepodge hardware
Anchored stamp brush set (hello)
School Colours stamp brush set (crayons)
A is for Apple stamp brush (ruler, background lines)
The little tags are my favourite:) Nathan was pretty excited about these! We are going to tuck one in a pocket of his "new" backpack so he knows for sure which bag is his and then one on his lunch bag! Can't wait! I'm also going to write his bus number and siblings name on the one tag in case Nathan is unsure one day and freezes up (ie. doesn't talk!) and isn't sure where to go or what to do...I know, I'm a paranoid mom...but we're allowed!
I really hope you enjoyed the first of hopefully many blog hops and I can't wait to do it again next Friday!!!
To continue enjoying the blog hop, select another name on the list down below! Have fun!!!! Take care,
Heather
Here is a quick little video for you as well demonstrating how these printed projects came to life and became .... hybrid:)
So tell me, were you not WOWED by the amazing projects already shared in our blog hop!!! I love being able to preview everyone's projects up close and personal as I didn't have that time at Convention! I'll say it again, I'm honoured to be a part of such a talented group of women! If you're arriving here from Summer's blog...welcome and thanks for continuing the loop! Summer's work is OUT OF THIS WORLD and she is just as amazing an individual as she is a crafter! I enjoyed eating next to Summer at the dinner and getting to know her better. (and another little tidbit about her...she makes cakes as top notch as her paper creations!!!)
Before you see all of my scrapbook pages, I need to share a little bit with you. For those of you that don't know me (yet:) I am a mom to four wonderful children. I do love them all equally, I don't have a favourite (well, most days:) BUT you will not think this once you've seen all of my pages. I used Nathan for all of my scrapbook pages. There are two reasons for this:
I wasn't sure if my mom would need some photos to scrapbook so I thought if I only used one child her options were wide open.
We got our "good" digital camera when Nathan was born so some of my "better" photos are from this point on which sure makes scrapbooking a little easier:)
OK, now that I've explained to you that Nathan is not favoured, I can share information about the page:) The title was fun to create....the letters were all punched out of the Newsprint DSP and then adhered to the different tags and card stock. The "C", "U" and "E" are all mounted on a Vintage Tag while the "T" is on a safety pin pinned to the tag. (feel free to click on the picture to enlarge the details). The "spook" was cut out of last year's Halloween DSP and then spritzed with some smooch/alcohol combination. The rest of the page is fairly self explanatory with the photos being layers on different DSPs and card stock. I hope you like my page today and I look forward to having you stop by again tomorrow! I know Connie is excited for you to stop by her blog, so if you haven't already continue your travels to Connie at the top of the list!
OK, if you know me you're not surprised to hear that this DSP was top of my list when the new catalogue came out! The DSP is called Nursery Nest and it matches none other than my favourite AVIARY!!!!! How fun is that?!?!
This card uses Lucky Limeade, Marina Mist and Basic Grey...fun colours don't you think? Not one I would have come up with on my own!
The card has seven little birds for our family of six, plus Mitts (the cat). I shot a quick video on this card. I'm not sure of the dimensions of the card stock layers, but I can say that the layers are 1/8 of an inch difference. The "word" set is from the hostess program...which if I haven't said it's awesome in this catalogue! I also have to say that I LOVE the hostess sets! I don't usually collect hostess sets, but I've got FIVE that I just had to have (pathetic, I know...it's an obsession:)
Anyhow, I hope you enjoy today's post and the Artisan hop. I'll be posting for the next nine days our Artisan projects and I'll throw in the odd post between them for you as well! Not to worry, I haven't given up on videos:) Have a great day!
Thank you to those of you that emailed and commented on this huge honour. I would have to say that this year's Convention was amazing for so many reasons, but near the top would have to be my Artisan Award experience. I am truly honoured to be considered for this award and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the nine other recipients of this award. If you are not aware of this award, it's called the Artisan. Each year Stampin' Up! announces the contest in January, and any demonstrator that is a Senior Associate or above can enter. Each contestant has to submit 5 cards, 3 scrapbook pages and 2 3D items of your choice. I encourage each and every one of you to give it a shot! The experience for me was amazing, I had time together with my mom as she also submitted, but this type of crafting really took me out of my comfort zone and challenged me to "better my best". I enjoyed the whole experience and think that YOU should give it a try! Have fun with it!!!!
So, these amazing women I mentioned above are keen and excited to share their passion for stamping and we've set up a 10 day blog hop. So you may be arriving from one of their sites, or maybe you stopped here first. BUT we've set it up so you can start anywhere in the loop and link to each of our sites for the next 10 days as we'll show and share a little bit about each project! Have fun and feel free to leave comments along the way! Thanks for stopping by here today!
If you were at Convention and saw the display boards, you actually have not seen this card! When I went to my board first thing on Wednesday this card was missing:) Not sure what happened to it, but these things happen and I'm not worried! I'm just glad I took a picture of it before I sent in the projects (unlike my one 3D...we'll get to that one later in the week:)
This card was fun to put together. I printed off the Greatest Moments circle in MDS and hole punched every other hole and used this as a guide for placing my pearls. I was struggling with eyeballing it so I needed to use a template and that's how I created it:)
The butterflies are created using the Beautiful Butterfly die, dimensionals and lastly the Trinket Key was adhered with Crystal Effects.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask, and in the meantime I hope you have a wonderful day! I'll be back again tomorrow with project number 2! (Although you know me, I may be back before then:) Have fun following along on the blog hop! Since I'm last on the list, hop on back to the beginning and check out Connie's BEAUTIFUL creation...she sure is talented!!!
This set was again, one of my top ten (has my list exceeded ten yet:) I LOVED the samples, the stamps, the colours, everything about this set when I saw it in the hostess benefit section of our catalogue! If you haven't checked out the new hostess benefit plan, you really should.....it rocks!!! I love that ANY hostess can achieve ANY set! Thank you SU!!!
This balloon image is from the set, Ain't Love Grand. I love how the balloon can be punched out with the 11/4 inch circle punch and then popped up! AND isn't this paper just so fun...it's the Big Top Birthday DSP!
Hey speaking of DSP....did you know that for the month of August if you purchase three DSP paper packs you get the fourth one FREE!!!!!! YAY for that special, thank you SU!!! If you're interested in taking advantage of this deal, please fire me off an email:)
Sorry, back to the card....I used the new dry emboss frame on the Real Red card stock. I love how it helps to make the image really pop! The rest of the card is fairly self explanatory, but I have a video that goes over the card and demonstrates the dry embossed frame for you! HOpe you like it!!!
AND don't forget...head on over to my online shop today CLICK HERE to check out the newest MDS (My Digital Studio) downloads! Thanks so much for stopping by today! Take care,
Well, I figured this has to be a favourite DSP for me as I am NO DOMESTIC GODDESS!!! I really don't enjoy cleaning, I really don't iron, cooking can be fun at times (I love to bake). So truly I am no Domestic Goddess, but I think I can create some fun things with the DSP so this has to count for something, right?
I had a wonderful friend, make some delicious treats for my family so I had to make her a little thank you card and what better paper to use than this? I love the retro feel to the paper (although Emma says it's more vintage than retro...cheeky little girl!)
I used the stamp set Fruit and Flowers for the strawberry. It's stamped in Lucky Limeade on the Whisper White oval and then I rock and rolled it in Calypso Coral and REal Red for the strawberry. I then cut it out and attached the bottom with a dimensional and the top with Snail.
I LOVE how the wide oval punch fits into the dry embossed new oval folder...isn't it fun? And of course, I had to use the new In Colour Brads and flirty ribbon! I'm really happy with how this card turned out! AND, yes, I have another video for you!!!! What is going on????
If you have signed up for my MDS club, the invitations were sent out last night, so if you didn't receive it, please email me at adamsum@yahoo.com and I'll resend the invitation (if you'd like to join, the more the merrier!!!)
