Stamp with Heather

Yay, I got the video done:)

Well happy Monday to you!  What a day!  My to do list is about a mile long, I've accomplished a few things and feel alright with it!  Let's hope the afternoon can be a bit more productive!  Anyhow, one of the "to dos" was to get this video done!  I've had this card made for sometime and I just kept forgetting to edit the video.  Enough of my babbling...here is the card!!!

My friend Anne showed me how to stencil at my last downline meeting.  She made a BEAUTIFUL floor mat.  I thought I'd start on a little smaller scale and make a card!  Hope you  like it!

OK, you guys are way too nice with your comments on yesterday's post:)  Thank you!  I'm glad that you either liked it or could see the potential in it, or simply like the idea of using felt.

I hope you've had a fabulous weekend!  We sure have.  It was Cole's baptism today so I'm sure I'll be sharing some MDS pages with you really soon for that:) 

This card is another one I did for my stamp a stack.  I love how the Sparkly and Bright stamp set matches the DSP.  The colours on this card are Taken with Teal, Sahara Sand and Whisper White. 

Sorry for the short post but off to finish up the weekend "chores".  I'm hoping to get the video done for tomorrow:)

You either Love it or you hate it!

So, we made this project last month at my technique and template club.  Some of my wonderful ladies were asking about die cutting and using different materials other than paper.  So I wanted to make something out of felt (and of course I showed them the purse you can cut using the Big Shot as well!)  Anyhow, this is what I came up with. 

My thought was vintage Christmas.  Again, you either love it or hate it!  I'm okay with either emotion:) This could either be used as a card front or you could place this in a picture frame.  The bird is made using the Hearts and Brackets Big Shot die.  The background is done using the Friends 24/7 stamp set (love this brocade background).  I stamped it off using Close To Cocoa and the edges are sponged in the same ink.

The greeting is from the Punch Christmas level 2 hostess set, and it is embossed using Chocolate Chip craft ink and clear embossing powder.

Modified Card from Before

Not sure if you remember, but about a month ago I had a card very similar to this on my blog using Kraft as the card base and then Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink and Bashful Blue.  Well, I wanted to use the same layout and change the colour combination for my school fundraiser we had the other night.  I needed a fairly quick and simple card as I had some newbie crafters as well as "oldies".  So this is what I came up with.

• Kraft - 3 x 4 1/4

• A little Dazzling Diamonds would really add to this card as well

Shimmery Snowman

I really like this stamp set.  I think I like this big snowman as it encourages young (and young at heart) to write thank you cards after the festive season!  I always try and have my kids write a few thank yous (but not nearly enough!)  I need to get better at this and I think this holiday season that will be one of my goals.

Anyhow, onto the card.  Rather than using the full snowman for this card, I only wanted to use the head.  So I stamped the scraf image and higher six times.  Three of them were punched out using the 1 3/4 inch circle punch and the other three I cut out the scarved so I could have them dangle over the edge of the circle.  It's also tough to see in the photo but in real life this card really sparkles as I used the spray shimmer on the snowmen and the greeting.

A few MDS pages for you....with inspiration from Cole's Closet!

You know, I've had a video done and ready to finish off for almost a week (with a cute snowman card) and I have yet to find the time in a day to finish it off!!!  I will though!  I have discovered that I can do MDS with one hand...unlike most tasks in my life.  So while feeding Cole and snuggling I have gotten a few more pages done.  

I like this page of Cole as it completely matches his little outfit!  I'm not sure why the title is so blurry as it isn't on my created page (although I do know you can't stretch stamps, which I did a bit on this one, so I will alter that on my page)  Anyhow, rather than using the SU colours to make this page, I used the Colour Match tool and was able to match the yellow, blue, red, gray and brown to Cole's outfit!!!  I love that I can do the text in the same matching yellow (using the colour match tool).  Unlike stamping, I can't have a lighter colour so clear and vivid on dark cardstock so this makes me a happy scrapper:)

This second page is Mark's cake from his birthday party.  I'll end up doing probably about four pages from his friend party, but I always like to have one page dedicated to the birthday child and their cake.  (thank you to so many of you and your great LEGO suggestions!!!!  The party was a hit....this "cake" is done using Rice Krispies in a cake pan and muffin tin.  We also played some LEGO games that I will share with you later)  I'll have the other pages to share with you in a few days.

  We have been so touched by so many of you that have sent your best wishes on the birth of Cole!  I will be sharing lots of baby cards over the next little while.  I am trying to email you each to thank you but please know if I haven't yet, I appreciate the cards and well wishes!

My friend Anne made this card for Cole.  I absolutely love this little keepsake.  I am excited to scrapbook (yes, REAL scrapbooking with paper and embellishments a page and use this card on the page)

I forget what these cards are called but it is simply adorable and uses my all time favourite DSP (that is retired....something Blueberry I think)  The stamp set on the cover is Love Bug (level one hostess set) and the Big Shot was used to make the letters.  Cole's name is covered in glitter.

It's tough to see but the inside of the card is full of Cole's details ... birth weight, length, date and details.  Isn't this just so sweet!!!  Thank you Anne for the wonderful keepsake!

Here's the purse in a nut shell:

• 38 Scallop Squares from Fabric using the Scallop Square Big Shot Die (LOVE IT!!!  Quick and EASY!)
• 19 squares of quilt batting (3 x 3 ish)
• Striped Ribbon - 2 at 24 inches and one at 6 inches

I got this fabric at Fabricland and LOVE that it matches the 1 1/4 inch striped Old Olive and Chocolate Chip ribbon. 

I added an inside loop for the purse to hang either a wallet from OR, I thought about making a camera case for my little point and shoot that I take everywhere with me.

Better Late than Never:)

What a day we've had around here!  It's Mark's 8th Birthday today!  So between getting ready for the party, the actual party and a "normal" day it's been a little crazy!!!  I didn't have the chance to check my email today so if you have emailed I will get to it over the weekend (it's a busy one around here with family visiting but will attempt to get to it ASAP!)

Also, I want to CONGRATULATE Lori Smythe on winning the past month's online order!!!!  I will be sending out my thank you cards with the Simply Thanks tokens on Monday if you placed an online order in the last month and Lori, your card will come with the stamp set Snow Buddies!!!!

Emma's First Impressions

As a precaution, the local hospitals have put a ban on visitors at the hospital, especially children.  So after having Cole, the kids couldn't visit him.  The first time Emma met Cole was at my mom's house when we came to pick them up.  I think the photos speak for themselves on how Emma felt when seeing and holding Cole for the first time!  She fell in love!  I love her smile in the first photo at the top left!  All of them show joy and LOVE which shockingly enough a week later still exists:) 

This page I did some stamping along the bottom to make the Soft Suede look like DSP.  The background is changed to Opacity 80% and then when I stamped in Soft Suede I left it at it's full intensity. I am excited to see how this page will turn out when printed as the ribbon is also the Soft Suede.  I'd love to hear from any of you that have had a book or printing done through SU for the My Digital Studio.  I am excited to get my stuff sent off here shortly!  I have printed cards and am THRILLED with the results so I imagine it will be the same for the scrapbooking.

Wandering Words

This is one of those sets that has really grown on me.  Everytime I would flip through the mini catalogue, I'd stop at this set, admire it and move on.  Well, shocker, I broke down and got it!  I really should just do that from the beginning, it would make things a whole lot easier!

This card is really simply.  I used Kraft, Soft Suede and Real Red.  The one little "extra" on this card is I did use the shimmer paint on the snowflakes, both on the stamped Santa image and on the snowflakes on the top left corner.  To apply the shimmer paint, I simply dipped the end of a pen in the ink, and then dabbed the pen to the card front, let the paint adhere to the paper and VOILA some subtle bling added to the card!

• Kraft - 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4, 4 x 3 cut on a wavy edge
• Real Red - 5 3/8 x 4 1/8
• Cocoa DSP - 4 x 3

My Boys...Just Hanging Out!

  I know, I know, I'm sorry....more MDS!!!!  I am ADDICTED!!!!  I took these pictures of Mark and Cole one night last week and didn't look at them on the computer until last night.  When I saw them I just melted between Cole's eye's being open and Mark's soft gentle look.  I love them!!! 

This page is all done using Night of Navy, Bashful Blue and Brocade Blue.  The background is the dotted Bashful Blue DSP, but I changed the opacity of it so it is very soft.  The "true" Bashful Blue is on the stars so you can see the difference between the colours.  I altered the opacity a little bit on the Night of Navy as well just to add some additional shades of blue.

I hope you like the page, and this one would be EASY to reproduce in the traditional format.....the Big Shot has a die with four different sized stars (plus SU carries 2 star punches) so if you have four pictures (or three) you love, layer them on Whisper White cardstock, punch some random stars and you'll be done!

Mark's Birthday Invitation

Mark is turning 8 this week....where has the time gone?  I can't believe it!!!  He has been a LEGO lover since he was about 3!  Every birthday and Christmas he has asked for LEGO and so this year he has decided to do a LEGO themed birthday party.  I've got a few ideas bouncing around my head for a cake (not really a cake though as Mark doesn't like cake) and activities.  HOWEVER, if you've ever done a LEGO birthday I'd love to hear any ideas you may have!

His invitation was VERY simply.  I had brads on the Modern Label but Mark informed me there are no brads in LEGO (too cute!)  The LEGO I just printed off from the computer and then punched it out with the 1 3/4 inch circle punch.  Then each of these circles are popped up with dimensionals.  These have to be the quickest cards I've made, Mark was thrilled so therefore I'm happy too!!!  Hope you like it and I'll see you again tomorrow!

Maybe my favourite.....

As I'm sure you can tell I am just loving playing with the MDS (My Digital Studio!!!)  It is amazing and I am so pumped that I am on top of my scrapbooking!  I'm trying to do a page a day (some take just minutes to make and others a little longer:)  I've actually done my pages for the photos I've taken since Halloween, which makes me happy AND I've gone back to do a few older pages.

Some of you have asked what I'm going to do with the pages.  I think that I am going to get them printed through Stampin' Up! as individual pages to put in my scrapbook.  I still love the paper and hands on of traditional scrapbooking, so I think now my books will be a combination of digital and traditional.  What do you guys do?  I'd love to have feedback, suggestions or comments on this one. 

I would love to be able to help with the world of Digital scrapbooking so if you have questions about MDS, please ask and I'll try and post some tutorials on this program on my blog.  Now remember, if you're not a digital scrapbooker, these layouts can be easily duplicated in traditional scrapbooking and also for cards (I'll have a few of these in the week to come!)  In the meantime, enjoy your Sunday and I'll see you again tomorrow!

Top Notes Gift Card Holder

Happy Saturday to you!  Hope you had a great week!  It looks like it's going to be a fabulous weekend around here!  Adam's high school football team is in the championship game today so we are off to support the team today...wish us luck:)  Thankfully the weather is not "the typical" football weather so the four kids and I will cheer them on from the stands!

Today's card was inspired by an idea I saw on the Internet.  The problem is, I don't remember where!!!  If you know who came up with this idea of creating the Top Notes gift card please let me know so I can give credit where credit is due.  However, I decided to take the idea and run with it!  I wanted to attach it to a standard card size (it's actually only a card front).  And then I thought, hey, I'll use this idea in my punch class!  SO, you're getting two for one today...a template and a punched creation!  I hope you like it!!!!

Mark's Halloween Page

Happy Friday the 13th to you!  13 has always been my favourite number, I think because as a child I can remember my Grandma telling me all about the wonderful things that happened in her life on a Friday the 13th.  I must have thought this was pretty neat and so now, 13s my lucky number:) 

ANYHOW, sorry for the babbling there...onto today's project!  I'm still playing with the My Digital Studio, I actually can't get enough of it!  I just love that I can click away, play, change, alter, move and do basically WHATEVER in a fairly short period of time. 

I didn't realize that I hadn't shared Mark's Halloween costume with you.  I can't take any credit for the idea.  One of Adam's football players was telling Mark about his favourite costume ever and it was a Top Hat Guy.  SO, Mark who really likes Paul and thought it sounded like a fun costume decided he too wanted to be a Top Hat Guy!  So as you can see, we made a super huge top hat, drew a face on a shirt, got an old suit jacket and tie around his waist and voila a short legged, Top Hat Guy!  Hope you like it!

Round One of Thank You Cards

For those of you that know me well I don't do well with reproducing cards in large numbers. By about 10 I'm in need of a change and something different.  In some ways this is so much more work, but it keeps me on task and interested.  So, this is one of the cards I've made for some thank yous to so many wonderful people we have in our lives.  My family is very appreciative of all the kind emails, phone calls, gifts and well wishes you have sent our way since welcoming Cole.  Thank you!

I made this card before we had Cole, so kept it fairly gender neutral - So Saffron and Certainly Celery.  I wanted to make sure that the inside of the card was decorated as well. 

The star is from the Nursery Necesseties Stamp set and I just mounted that on a small Kraft square and a scallop Sqaure behind that.  I added the button just for a little extra something.

Cole's Closet

Often many of you ask where I get my inspiration for projects and cards and even colour combinations.  To tell you the truth, it's everywhere!  However, I did this with Nathan and I'll do it again with Cole, I'm going to post a "Cole's Closet" as inspiration (maybe weekly, or less, or more...depends what's going on:)

OK, so it's actually hard to see, but it's a cute picture of Cole, but today's inspiration comes from his little zebra sleeper.  I used the colour combination (you can see it in the hat as well).  The had is Ballet Blue, Brilliant Blue and White.  Then on the sleeper there are some Real Red and Gable Green polka dots.  SO, what inspired this card was the colour combination and the polka dots!

The card is Brilliant Blue today and the polka dots are all punched with the 1 inch circle punch.  I used the Stamp set Choo-Choo and added the black stitching lines by hand.  The greeting (that fits so perfectly!) is from Birthday Bliss (I think that's what it's called.  The Stamp-a-ma-jig works beautifully with this stamp set if you're not one to eyeball things.  The hearts coming from the engine are done with the Heart to Heart punch and after I put them on the card I covered them with Crystal Effects just to make them pop a bit more.

On the inside of the card I simply punched a scallop square and then the birthday greeting from the Birthday Blisss stamp set and punched it out using the wide oval.

Friends 24/7 Thank You

Today's card is a special one for me.  My Grandma was a very active woman in her church and always has been.  Her UCW group was like an extended family for her.  She spent countless hours working, playing and having fun with an amazing bunch of women.  I had the honour of meeting many of them last year when I went down and stamped with a group of them.  Well, they put on a wonderful lunch for our family after my Grandma's funeral and I really wanted to do something for them.  So I made up this card for the group from my family to say thank you and also a box set of 20 cards (identical to this) that the group can use when needed.  It isn't much but hopefully they are put to good use and this shows my Grandma's friends how appreciative we are to them!

Another MDS Page:)

Happy Monday to you!  I hope your week is off to a great start!  Well, my intentions were to have a card posted today with a video BUT well, as I'm sure you can imagine, life got a little nutty around here.  I've just got to stop taking pictures of the kids and get the photos done of my cards and I'll be ready:)

Anyhow, today's page is as it says....Cole's Going Home page from the hospital.  Again, quick and easy page, highlighting the sweet photo.  I have to say that I love the option of changing the opacity of a colour in MDS.  Sometimes, something may just be a bit too bright for me so being able to tone it down is a WONDERFUL feature!

Welcome Cole!

Well, thank you so much for all your kind words!!!  Our family is quite touched by all the support and excitement from you, thank you!

This is our newest little munchkin....Cole Anderson.  I have to say that I'm feeling slightly guilty that my fourth child actually has 5 scrapbook pages completed and he's only a day old......talk about unfair!!!  I hope you're up for some baby projects, baby scrapbooking and baby cards as this is what I'm sure you'll be seeing on my blog in the next little bit as I work on birth announcements, thank yous and scrapbooking.  (I'll make sure I include other things I've been working on too....just let me know when you are sick of seeing my family:)

This first page came together really quickly as I simply added a bunch of different layers of Designer Series Paper.  I changed the Opacity of the papers so they weren't quite as intense and vibrant on the pages.  I'm looking forward to seeing what they look like when they get printed.  Feel free to click on the photos as well to enlarge them so you can see the details.

This second page is a little more personal, and very simple but I wanted to share with you the ease of a layout.  I wanted to document Cole's birth and entry into our family so this page really is about the journaling.  I simply created a few different text boxes (one for the upper portion, one for the full text that is above the bottom photos, one for the title and one for the subtitle).  I wanted the pictures of Cole to be more predominant so I kept them in colour and I put the photos of Adam and I in black and white.  I hope you like the pages and again, thanks for the warm welcome!

Thank you Mom!

Can you guess who made me this fantastically beautiful card?  That's right, my mom!  It was my birthday last week and for my birthday my mom always likes me to give her a challenge for my card.  So, I tried to make it hard, but she sure made it look easy!!!

The parameters were:

• use Rich Razzleberry BUT not Cottage Wall DSP
• use the stamp set 24/7
• include paper piercing

And didn't it turn out amazing!?!?!  I love the colour combination she used, So Saffron, Certainly Celery and Rich Razzleberry!  Don't they look great together?  Thank you mom for this very special card that I will keep and treasure!

Baby News!

The baby is finally here!  Heather and baby are both doing very well.  Cole Anderson Summers was born at 2:14am on Friday, November 6th.  He weighed 7lbs, 13ozs and was 21 inches long.  Heather is coming home tomorrow and will be sharing pictures soon.  Thanks for all your support and comments.

80's Girl....serioulsy is it back in style?

For Halloween Emma had it in her head she wanted to be an 80's girl.  So back in the summer I thought we best start hunting for treasures for her costume.  Well, little did I know that those fun bright colours of the 80's, tacky plastic jewelry and fishnet stockings are ALMOST back in style!!!  We went into the store Claire's and hit a JACKPOT!!!!  10 items for $10 and they were all that rockin' 80's fashion! 

So, please fill me in, do I live in a bubble, is it truly back in style (please say no!!!)  She had so much fun wearing all the jewelry, the high side ponytail and the makeup that Emma is really hoping it does come back in style and that she'll be "allowed" to wear these clothes year round!

Again, this page was created using the My Digital Studio program but you can easily adapt this to a scrapbook page with paper and embellishments or even a card layout!  I hope you like it and I hope you have a wonderful Friday!

My Pooky Pider

I'd like to start off by saying WOW!  Thank you so much for your very kind words and emails you shared with me on my Monday post.  I am very touched by so many of you, thank you.  My grandma was an amazing woman that I was lucky enough to be very close with and over the next few months I'm sure you'll see some scrapbooking and sharing of stories about her.  Thank you again!

I've been playing a lot of catch up these past few days and do apologize if I haven't been as prompt with email responses or online orders.  I will get to you, thank you so very much!  I just wanted to let you also know that if you ordered a fundraiser kit, they have been shipped (unless I emailed you privately).  Thank you again for your support.  I do have some extra kits as well as some extra waterfall scrapbooks that I will be posting on my blog in the next few days.

Onto, my first MDS Halloween pages (OK, first from Halloween night....I'm up to 11 pages for my book on Halloween alone....told you I LOVE Halloween!!!!)

I LOVE that SU has begun selling add on packages to the MDS and you can purchase the Cast-a-Spell DSP!  (I think it was only $6.95 and I've used it a ton and it never goes away or goes bad, once you buy it it's yours and you can use it a million times over!!!!)  So, Nathan went out for Halloween as a "pooky pider".  He really didn't want to dress up even when bribing him with candy.  THEN, we went to Roy and Eleanor's (our wonderful neighbour's house) and EVERYTHING changed.  Nathan quickly learned that all he had to do was say "trick or treat" and not only did he get candy, but Eleanor let him grab his own handful!  That was all he needed to know and off he went for the evening!!!  Hope you like the page today, I'll share Emma and Mark's in the next few days as well.  Have a great Wednesday!

Thank You for a Baby Girl

Well, it seems everyone around me is having thier babies (AND EARLY!)  I'm okay with it though, my time will come!  Anyhow, my friend just had a baby girl so as part of her gift I wanted to make her some girlie thank you cards.  I just love the Rich Razzleberry, Pale Plum and Certainly Celery combination so this is what I did:)

I did a quick video on this card for you but will include the recipe.  A few of you have asked me how I get the bigger corners rounded as the SU corner rounder punch isn't this large.  I actually use a 1 inch circle, place it on the corners and cut around it.  Sometimes I like the smaller angle but other times I want a greater arc so this is how I accomplish it.

Here is the recipe for this card:

• Kraft Cardstock - 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2, 3/4 inch circle (three of these)
• Rich Razzleberry Carstock - 3 x 4 1/8, 1 inch circle (three of these)
• Pale Plum Cardstock - 2 7/8 x 4 (corner rounded)
• Certainly Celery Cardstock - 1 3/4 x 5 (corner rounded)
• Nursery Necessities Stamp Set
• Rich Razzleberry Ink
• Versamark
• Sherbet Buttons
• Linen Thread
• Whisper White Craft Ink

A Different Reason to Celebrate

My friend Angie Juda has been going crazy making these sweet and adorable fabric flowers using the Big Shot.  She has a great video on how to make the flowers and I will do a tutorial on this in the near future.  (Anne, you'd be proud, I've been using the $50 Pixie to do all the sewing!)

Anyhow, I had made this flower and corresponding card last week for my Grandma.  Today is my Grandma's 88th birthday!  But rather than celebrating her birthday we are celebrating her wonderful life as she passed away suddenly last week.  My Grandma was an amazing woman and I am so lucky to have spent as much time with her as I did.  I was fortunate to spend a great deal of time with her every summer at the cottage for the past 33 years!

I was really happy with the way this card turned out and I know she would have been too so that's why I decided to share it with you.  My Grandma was a seamstress (very talented) and loved different textiles and textures.  So while putting this card together for her, I kept thinking how much she would have loved curtains or a skirt or something fun and soft made from these patterns.  I hope you like the card and bow and I will be back with some more that I have created with matching cards in the near future.  Take care,

Pumpkin Carving

Happy Sunday Morning to you!  Hope you all had a safe and fun Hallween night!  It was cold and windy here but the kids had fun nonetheless!

I will have some pictures of the kids up this week for you to see, just didn't quite get the scrapbook pages done for today.  Instead I thought I'd share with you four pages I put together of our pumpkin carving evening.  Remember, if you want to see the page up close, just click on the photo and it will enlarge for you.

This first page is of Mark and his creation.  He really wanted to make a scary pumpkin face that would eventually end up having the pumkin guts spilling out of the mouth (yummy, don't you think?)  So, we put out plastic wrap on the steps and had some guts dripping out for all to see on Halloween night.  He was thrilled and that's all that matters!  Then Adam and Mark worked on their Star Wars Alliance Symbol pumpkin.  Lit up they both look very fun and bright from far away.

This second page is Nathan's Pumpkin Stickering.  Not quite ready to hand over a knife to Nathan (although I'm sure he would have gladly accepted:)  He spent the evening pulling off the white paper on the back of the Halloween fun foam sticker images.  I was surprised how long he spent doing this.  We then gave him a few markers to colour on the pumpkin and he was thrilled!  Each day since pumpkin carving he has gone out on the porch to see his pumpkin and talk to it....it's quite cute to watch.  He made a duplicate pumpkin for the neighbour as well because they gushed about how great it was he thought they should have one too.

Emma did her pumpkin a little different this year.  She printed off a picture of a sweet little monkey and then copied the image onto her pumpkin.  What amazed us was she free handed the monkey on the pumpkin!  It turned out great!  She then used a screw driver and chipped away a ridge on the lines she drew.  Then she and Adam scraped away the inside of the pumpkin so when the candle was lit you would see the outline image of her monkey.

This page was fun to make as I used a DSP as the background and then used the Extreme Elements stamp set on the DSP just to spook it up a bit.  The DSP is the Cast-a-Spell and I was able to purchase this as an add on for about $7!!!  How exciting is that!?!?!   Another feature I figured out on this page was how to make the photo a circle, this is quick and easy! 

The last page (I know, seriously, who needs four pages on pumpkin carving....that'd be me!) is a summary of everyone that was there (almost....Aunt Sandra and Karen came a little later). 

This page was another quick and easy one.  The big sheet of DSP in the background is done using the PUNCH option in MDS.  I then filled it with the DSP and added a shadow.  It just offers a neat alternative to a straight edge.  The title was done using a stamp set included in the My Digital Studio.  This page was very simple but I am happy with the overall effect.

Hope you've enjoyed the scrapbook pages today and can either use them as inspiration for your traditional scrapbooking, card making OR maybe you've made the plunge and have entered the digital world!!!!  Take care,
