Here's a quick few photos from tonight.  Because we get NO kids at our house (I even made up cute little packages...) Adam and I take the kids around together.  So, we were the Summers' Ranch this year for Halloween.  Emma was the cowgirl, Mark was a cowboy, Nathan was the horse, Adam was the sheriff and somehow I ended up being a cow!  Too funny!  I know, I know, I'm a horrible mom!  BUT while my kids still agree to go out together and be a united Trick or Treat team I will totally take advantage of it!  I really wanted them to be a stamp, an ink pad and a card but they said NO WAY to that one...maybe next year!!!!

Anyhow, I hope your Halloween was safe and full of fun (scrapbookable) memories!

Super Cute Card Set!

I know it's festive Friday AND Halloween but rather than posting late I thought I'd share with you a SUPER Cute card set my friend Jodie made me! 

How sweet is that?!?!  Not only did she make a super cute card with the Always DSP and the stamp set Pocket Silhouettes but check out the mini little bow on the box!

If you're attending our GI Cancer fundraiser (next Saturday....I'm almost ready!) then you'll be making a larger version of this!  Isn't it sweet!?!?!

Wow, two posts in one day!

My friend Paula sent me this super cute Halloween card in the mail!  Wasn't that sweet!?!?  I really appreciate the card and it is SO cute!

So this was very thoughtful of Paula not only to think of my family at Halloween BUT she also made sure the card had skulls on them!  How sweet is she?

Happy Halloween!

What a fun surprise!  Yesterday I had a delivery from Puralator and my mom sent the kids some Halloween treats!  What I love (and you can't tell in the photo) is that the box is bigger than a "normal" triangle box".  AND on top of all that she made the top of the box into a shaker card!!!

Here's the instructions for this sized triangle box:

Elegant Eggplant: 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2 then to create the triangles for the top and bottom of the box, score a line from the edge of the middle score line (5 1/2) to the edge of the paper at the 2 1/8 point.  Do this from both sides and you'll score a triangle.  Repeat this for the other side of the cardstock as well. 

Fold the box so the cardstock all folds "into" the box.  Then to close the box, simply feed the ribbon through holes punched in the top of each flap.  Have fun with this!

Photo Shoot Take 2!

Well, for those of you that were involved in the photo shoot last weekend you can understand why this is rescheduled...the weather DID NOT cooperate!  So, Matt is so graciously giving up ANOTHER day.....THIS SATURDAY, to do another take!  This time he is going to set up my front room for an indoor shoot if the weather isn't good and you'll have the option of outdoor weather permitting.  I am so excited to be a part of this event.  The cost is $40 and included in this cost is a $25 donation to the Children's Hospital, a double page scrapbook kit with chipboard, DSP and lots of other embellishments PLUS a 5x7 and two 4x6 pictures from the photo shoot!  This is a complete win situation for EVERYONE....particularily the hospital and local children!  So, if you have time on Saturday and are interested please email me at adamsum@yahoo.com and we can set up a time!

It's a BIG day.....THE WIGGLES!!!!

I know, I know, you may not LOVE the Wiggles but my family sure does!  And the best part is we are going to the concert tonight!  Emma is more excited than anyone for tonight (well, my mom is pretty excited as well!)  For those of you that don't know them they are an Australian kids' group that has been around for years (Emma and Mark both loved them as kids!) and they are in town tonight!  So, Nathan has to experience them so we are going to the concert tonight!  Should be LOTS of fun!

I made this card for my mom as a thank you for coming with us!  Do you think it looks kindof like Wags?  Mark and I think he looks just like him (Mark helped me make this card this weekend!)  We couldn't figure out the legs so he is hiding behind the flowers!

That's the truth!  You guys ROCK!  I appreciate all the kind comments and your taking the time to stop off at my blog each day, that's so sweet, thank you! 

Mark and I had a fabulous Saturday (with Nathan tagging along:)  Emma was at a sleepover and Adam was away and all Mark wanted to do was craft!!!!  Gotta love that!  We made a TON of punched animals (and a few monsters) that you'll be seeing this upcoming week! 

So I thought I'd make Mark a card to put in his lunch tomorrow!  He loves skulls (just like me...or maybe because of me!).  So I used the set JUST JAWING.  This set actually has hearts for eyes (in case you are one of the few people that don't own this set:) So, I just used my black marker to ink up the stamp excluding the eyes.  The I punched out two black stars with the small star punch and covered them in Tombow Glue then the black chunky glitter.  The stars along the side are popped up and I used my white gel pen to draw on stitch lines on my black grosgrain ribbon (thanks Michele for the great idea!)

I really am enjoying the Top Notes Die for the Big Shot.  It is so fun and versatile.  My friend, Anne taught me how to make a box with it (will show you soon!), I use it in scrapbooking for journaling and photos and it's just a fun mat on cards!  LOVE IT!

Colours: Whisper White Cardstock, Chocolate Chip Cardstock

Stamps: Holiday Trinkets

Other: Ski Slope DSP, 5/8 Chocolate Chip Ribbon, Silver Cording, a variety of punches

Boo....did Mark scare you?

I love a fun little peek-a-boo type card.  And what better time of year than Halloween?  This card is made using mainly  my Big Shot. It uses the top notes die (in green) and the alphabet for the greeting. 

Recipe:

Colours: Gable Green, Lavender Lace, Basic Black, Almost Amethyst (the owl is stamped on it and then cut out)

Other: Jumbo Eyelet, White Grosgrain Ribbon dyed using the Lavender Lace ink pad and a sponge, Big Shot and dies

  So, did he scare you?  After you untie the bow, there he is!  Looking oh so sweet!  I added a little extra by making another bat from punches (see post and video from a few days back) and adhering it to the inside flap.

I have the top notes folded over the front edge of the card and attached on the inside and then it stays shut with the ribbon.

I LOVE Brownies!

Not the chocolate ones...although I do love them!  I mean the girl group of Brownies.  Were you a Brownie?  Well I was a Brownie and I LOVED it!  I was thrilled this year when Emma asked if she could be a Brownie!  Last night was the enrollement session and the girls did such a great job.  As they were chanting their promise it instantly came back to me and I just remember so many happy moments from my own childhood from Brownies.  It was such a great night, I am so proud of her and so thankful for the memories that came back!  And on the happy note of Brownies, I thought it would be appropriate to share with you an owl card (in honour of Brown Owl!)

My friend Jodie made this card for me, isn't is SO DARN CUTE?!?!?  Well, you guessed it!  This is one of my cards we will be making on Friday, November 14th for my Punch Crazy Christmas card class.  (Feel free to email me if you'd like any details on this FUN class....I have four spots left!)

Amazing Photos and an Amazing Cause

I am so excited to share a new adventure with you!  My friend Matt is an AMAZING photographer!  AND the two of us have joined forces for a fundraising activity!!!!  I can't wait!

Matt has decided to give back to the community through his own photography business to  www.childhealth.ca which is a fundraiser for our local Children's Hospital here in London.  His goal is to raise funds and awareness for the children within our community.  How great is that?!?! SO, when I heard about this, I wanted to join forces with him to help such a great cause! 

So, this coming Sunday, we are hosting a photo shoot right here at my house (where these super cute photos of my kids were taken!)  You can have pictures taken of your full family, yourself, your kids, your dog....whatever you like!   Matt is VERY fun and accomodating and will snap away (as long as the lighting is right:)

For only $40 you will get the photo shoot, a two page double layout with instructions (and fun embellishments like chipboard and brads), a 5x7 print and two 4x6 prints of your choice PLUS (are you ready for this.....) $25 of this fee is going directly as a donation to the Children's Hospital!!!!

Batty for Punches!

I LOVE punches!  I can't even tell you how much fun I am having with my punches right now!  I've got so many more things up my sleeve!  BUT for now, check out the bat!!!!  Isn't he sweet?

My kids made a really cute pom pom craft for bats and while they were making their creations I looked at it and thought, "Hey, I can make something that looks like that with punches!!!"  I know, I know, the answer to your question is NO, the wheels don't stop thinking about stamping! 

Anyhow, I decided to make a video for these little munchkins!  Have fun with it!  Please add a comment if you give it a try and post a photo on your blog....I'd love to check them out!

  Is this not a sweet little stamp in the Under the Stars stamp set?  I love Smores and that is such an important part of campfires at the cottage.   This just goes along with the whole family time outdoor theme!  I love it!

I stamped and cut out each of the images, and then I used the scallop punch on the Smores to look like "someone" was taking a bite out of them!  I got this idea from blog hopping in the summer and seeing people using the scallop punch as a bite out of a popsicle....so why not use it here????

Then on the inside of the card I used outline alphabet and stamped "sweet" and then the cute little racoon.  I also added some crumbs to show the evidence!  Isn't that little raccoon just looking at you for forgiveness?  The look reminds me of one my kids would use!

Festive Friday!

I don't know about where you are but it sure felt cold enough today to be a little FESTIVE....or snowing!  My gosh, it was freezing!  I am so lucky to have had the opportunity to watch my husband's team's football game after school today and can you say....CHILLY!!!!  Anyhow, not complaining, the fresh air does you good!

Under the Stars

OK, I have to fess up!  This was a "MUST HAVE" set when the new cattie came out and I just stared at for the first month or so...truly, not knowing what to do! 

Well, guess what!!!!  I've had some FUN and boy is this set GREAT!!!!  (not one of my cards for my class but I was thinking....Santa hat from Crab and Company holding the lights from Mr. Twigster....FUN!!!)  I think my mom's card totally inspired me!

Frogs!

I have always loved frogs but when Emma came home saying her class theme was frogs this year we were on a mission....create a punch frog.  So this past weekend we went online and found a clipart picture of a frog and we knew it was the one we could recreate!  So off to work we went and this is what we came up with!

A little bit of JOY!

 This is a REALLY quick and easy Christmas card.  I wanted to showcase the Big Shot (which by the way I LOVE!) and so I made this card, are you ready....in just shy of four minutes...that included cutting!  Isn't that amazing?!?!?

I love Thanksgiving!  I can't wait to go for a hike, spend some time outside and of course eat a FABULOUS meal!  Turkey and stuffing, can it get any better? 

For our Thanksgiving meal today Emma wanted to make place card treats for all our guests.  So, we took a combination of Carolyn's project yesterday and Emma's Brownie project from last week and came up with these cute little fellows!

Happy Almost Thanksgiving!

I had to change my post today because my friend Carolyn came up with a super cute craft!  She was asking about her project she designed for Thanksgiving table favours and I just had to snap a picture, and then you know what that means....post it on my blog!

Look at how cute her little turkey is!?!?!

The feathers in the back are done with the scallop punch (and contraban scrapbook paper....but I forgive Carolyn as the craft is SO cute:)  The head is a one inch punch, the "neck" is a 3/4 inch punch and the beak is made by using one of the poky parts on the star punch!  How smart is she!?!?!  Then this is all housed on a little pouch she made with a chocolate bar inside!  How fun would it be eating dinner at her house!?!?! (Hey, that's an idea....)

Season's Greetings....Festive Friday

  How pretty is this stamp set?  It is a new one in the Stampin' Up! catalogue called Snow Swirled.  I actually bought the stamp set because I loved the snowflakes in it, but ended up falling in love with the tree as well!!!

Recipe (with dimensions!!!):

1) Old Olive Strip of Cardstock 4 1/4 x 1 1/2 then I scalloped the edge using the scallop edge punch.

2) Layer the DSP (41/4 x 2 1/2) on the Chocolate Chip cardstock (4 1/4 x 2 3/4).  Adhere the Old Olive Scallop to the back of this and attach to the card front.  If you don't have any of the Ski Slope DSP on hand, you can also create your own DSP by stamping snowflakes from the set in Baja Breeze on a strip of Baja Breeze cardstock.

3) Stamp the tree in Old Olive Ink  on Whisper White Cardstock (3 1/8 x 2 5/8).  Stamp the small snowflake in Baja Breeze on scrap Whisper White Cardstock and punch out with the 1/2 circle punch.  Adhere to the tree using dimensionals.

4) Layer the stamped image on the Old Olive Cardstock (3 1/4 x 2 3/4) then on the Chocolate Chip Cardstock (3 1/2 x 3).  Attach to the card front.

5) Stamp the greeting on Whisper White cardstock on the inside of the card and you're done!

Halloween Treats!

My friend Sonia came over the other day with these super cute treats for my little munchkins!  Are they not just too cute for words?  I love the way she placed the stamps from Booglie Eyes (my all time favourite Halloween stamp set .... followed closely by Hey Ghoul Friends!)  Anyhow, back to the packages.

Check out how the spiders are dangling on the package....fun!!!  The colours of the spiders and their eyes make me very happy too!  I love the way it is sealed shut as well with the little ribbons on the side of the package. The dimensions of this package are 4 x 11 scored at 4 1/2, 5 1/2, and 10 (this leaves a flap that can be scalloped)  Then inside the package is a cello bag filled with the treats!

 

This package uses the same dimensions but notice how the package is sealed shut with the ribbon through the top flap! 

I know, I know, you know that I LOVE Halloween!!!!  Seriously look at how much fun stamping is this time of year!

For this month's scrapbook club and scrappin in the mail, we used the LOVE Simply Scrappin kit.  I was unsure of it when I picked it but realized quickly that it has so much potential!!!  I actually only did one "LOVE" page.  I couldn't believe how perfect it was for so many events in our life!  I do have to admit though, I actually scrapbooked a double page layout of my wedding (I've never scrapped our wedding!!!)

You want to know the best part....Emma said I looked like a princess!  How sweet is that?  So, I've decided I need to scrapbook more of our wedding (no, not to make my head swell) but to capture those memories and moments for my children later in life!

Happy World Card Making Day!!!!

 Can you believe it....an official day to stamp and create cards!!!  Best be sharing this information with your hubby....it's officialy, you have to take some time for yourself and stamp today!!!  LOVE IT!

So, in honour of this I am doing a shaker card tutorial today!!!! 

I appreciate all the kind words and questions about how to make a shaker card.  So, I thought I'd share my tricks with you!

Here goes(you can click on the images to see them larger):

Step 1) Begin by making your card front.  I have attached the scallop edge and the DSP.  I have also stamped and coloured Mr. Twigster and then punched him out using the 1 3/4 inch circle punch (same size as the opening).  I have him attached to the front of the card.

Step 2) I use 4x4 inch coasters as the base of my shaker.  If you don't have access to these coasters, chipboard will work (although you can't use the SU punch through thick chipboard like I did here with the coaster.)  Another option is to use 2 layers of the white paper that comes in the back of a package of Designer Series Paper.  I punched the coaster with the 1 3/4 inch circle punch then punched the DSP in the same spot.  Attach the coaster to the card front.  Apply adhesive around the opening and the edges of the coaster.

Step 3) You can use many different items in a shaker card.  For this card I used the SU Chunky glitter.  Microbeads work well for this too!  Shake about 1/4 of a teaspoon on top of Mr. Twigster.  You don't want too much or you won't see him!

Step 4)  Now you need to carefully apply adhesive around the outside edge of the punched out circle.  Do this carefully as you don't want to bump your card and have your glitter stick to the adhesive around the opening.  Now attach the window sheet (I use overhead sheets)

Step 5)  Attach your 4x4 piece of DSP to the chipboard and finish off your card!

Festive Friday!

It's that time again!  Well, I had to make up a holiday card using none other than Mr. Twigster.

Seriously, isn't he so sweet?  I've heard that some are not too keen on this little fella, can you believe that???  I LOVE this set!!! 

Anyhow, this is one of the cards that we'll be doing tomorrow at my UStamp appreciation class.  Anyone that ordered a kit for the first round of UStamp will be coming over tomorrow for a fun free class using some of the new products from the Holiday mini!

Spooky Webs

Have you missed my Halloween posts?  Are you suffering withdrawal!?!?!  Kidding!  Well, I had some fun with our Chunky Glitter last night on this card!  I LOVE the tombow glue and Glitter, it's such a fun feature!

For this card I drew on the spider webs on my card with a pencil and then traced over the pencil lines with the Tombow glue.  Then I sprinkled the chunky glitter over top and VOILA you have a very fun, 3D spider web.

The stamped strip is actually popped up using dimensionals so it isn't resting on the webs. 

I used the spiders from Booglie Eyes, but the little guy from Batty for you would be super sweet!!!!  The colouring is done with watercolour crayons.

The Elegant Eggplant strip is scalloped with the scallop edge punch and the greeting is done with the Word Window.  Wouldn't this be fun with the white glitter on a black card?  I'd love to hear if you give this technique a try!

Now, onto the card.  Seriously, my mom has gone nuts!!!  Check out this card!  Look at all the details.  She masked like crazy and I think used every stamp set she owns on this card and it looks AMAZING!

The bear is from Under the Stars, the skunk is from Pun Fun, the mushroom and frog is from Unfrogettable, the tree branch is from Owl Together Now, the bird is from Wild About You, the cake from Itty Bitty Birthday.  Didn't she do a great job!?!?!
