OK Seriously....I LOVE PUNCHES
Are you sick of reading that I love punches, well I tell you....I LOVE THEM!!!! I use them ALL the time and am just amazed at their magic! If they could take out the garbage....Adam would have some serious competition:) So seriously, Dale emailed me this link to a VERY AMAZING card all made with punches click here to see the card. Sarah has the coolest card and came out with a Halloween themed card with very little stamping and all punching. So I have completely cased it BUT I added on to it and came up with a punched bat and a tutorial to go along with it!!!! So, here's the project....
This is a little Halloween treat holder. When I was at Laura's
the other night this was a little creation inside the Paper Crafts magazine with no instructions or dimensions. So, I played around and came up with a modified version and what better holiday to create for than Halloween??? Here's a run down on the punches:
Moon - punch out a full circle using your circle punch and then using the same punch take out a little piece
Ghosts - large and small oval and then draw on the faces
Pumpkins - one large circle and then two smaller circles for behind them. I drew on the faces as I don't have the Carved and Candlelight set with the cute pumpkin faces
Tombstones - the two sizes of tab punches, sponged and then two of them have Happy Halloween stamped on it
Colours: Pumpkin Pie, Summer Sun, Basic Black, Basic Gray, Whisper White
Are you just dying to figure out how I made the cute little bats hanging around the box out of SU punches???? (I really wanted to go to Michaels and buy the Martha Stewart bat punch but I ended up driving to Barrie to day .... there and back before I had to get the kids from school...long story ANYHOW I couldn't buy it so I created it and am really happy!) Here goes:
Step #1. Gather your supplies. You'll need one of the circle punches (I used the 1 3/8), the ticket corner punch, word window punch, basic black cardstock. Take the guide off the ticket punch and punch out a scalloped edge on your black paper as shown.
Step #2.
Center the scallops inside the circle punch so they are evenly spread apart. Punch the circle so you are using about 1/3 of the circle for the bats wings. I found the 1 3/8 worked well as 4 scallops fit almost perfectly.
Step #3. Using the same ticket corner punch, only punch one scallop out of the black paper. This is going to create the ears for this little guy.
Step #4. Using the word window punch, punch out the bat's body. Center it around the scallop so the ears will show and cut it to the length you'd like the body to be so you have a nice curved bottom edge as well. I think my bodies are about 3/4 of an inch long if that helps.
Step #5. Attach your bodies together. I put a bit of Crystal Effects between the layers and then put a piece of wire in between as well so they could be flying above the little box!
These are REALLY quick to make and I think they turned out kindof cute! Thanks for looking and have a SPOOKTACULAR night (it's quite pathetic how I can make myself laugh!!!)

Thanks for the inspiration, I made 2 Halloween scrapbook pages and I am not a scrapbooker. It was so much fun.
