I am so honoured to help design samples for Simply Details. I decided I'd do some scrapbooking with a few of the embellishment kits. Here's what I came up with:
This is the first scrapbook page I've done since my dad has passed away with his photos on it. I feel good about it and thought the Simply Stars Embellishment Kit and the colours matched these photos so well (all the colours are in Mark's sweater colours!) The word STAR, the felt starts, paper die cuts and brads were all in this kit! And there is a ton of stuff left! This page took me 15 minutes to make and the only thing that took me time was using my corner rounder to make the scalloped edge around the blue paper. I am really happy with this page and Mark thinks it is just the best to have this page with he and his "Baa Baa Oof!"
This second page is done using the Simply Ornaments Kit. I used the ornaments, ornament toppers and gold cording. I actually took a layout I did a few weeks back and just copied the layout using this kit. This is a page I did from a few Christmases ago. I was really happy with the colours matching my pictures and again the layout and design took me under 15 minutes to come up with! I have to say that I'm loving the texture as it is hot in the paper crafting industry right now.
What do you think? Are you into texture?

As if life hasn't been busy enough lately....well, I'm totally flattered that I was asked to help do some design work for a London based company (that's JUST starting off) called Simply Details. Here is the tin I made for them using their Halloween Embellishment Kit.
Check out their blog by clicking HERE and you can see the first embellishment kit they are releasing. I will actually have a lot of their product for sale at my fundraiser on Saturday!!! I can't wait for you to see all of the beautiful ribbons, brads, textured embellishments......
I made this tin for our house as we don't actually stay home on Halloween. We only get a handful of kids to our home so I always leave a bucket out for them with a note saying take a few treats and Happy Halloween! What I love about this is we always get a few kids (maybe 5) BUT they never take the whole tin, there are only ever a few gone.....LOVE IT!!!! Anyhow, this tin will be on my porch Halloween night if you'd like a closer look!
I punched the tin that I picked up at Dollarama with my crop-o-dile and then used some of the brads that came in the embellishment kit on the tin. The word BOO, the 2 different ghosts and the spider are all adhered with Crystal Effects. Please check out Simply Details and let them know what you think! Have a great night!

WOW, only 3 more sleeps until the fundraiser!!! SO much to do and SO little time!!!! Can't wait! If you're not sure where you are going it is at:
King's College on Epworth Ave. Download directions_to_kings_and_w174.pdf (click on the underlined blue words for directions!)
Parking is FREE and we are in room W174 which is in the old building on the north side of the street
Coffee, Tea, Water and Cookies will be available
If you are in the afternoon session, come at 12:30 if you can as there is a high school tour starting at 1 and parking could be an issue. If you are in the morning session as excited as I am to see you, please don't come before 9 as I only have 30 minutes to set up and I'll need all that time!
Please bring scissors and if you don't like double sided tape, bring your own adhesive.
Also, there are going to be LOTS of goodies for sale(premade items, stamping kits, NEW items from Simply Details - VERY FUN!!!), raffle tickets (5 for $2) for some AMAZING items that have been donated (Knights tickets, silver necklaces, CM supplies, Avon supplies.....the list is endless!!!) and if you have an SU order, all the profits will be donated to GI research!
I can't thank you enough for your support, kind words and patience! I am very excited to see you on Saturday! Here's a little thank you tin I made up for some of my WONDERFUL friends and family that have been SO helpful in preparing for and helping on the big day!
I made these in the little bandaid tins. The stamp set is Riveting and I used an assortment of scrapbook paper from last year's mini. I LOVE this paper!!!! The cards are meant to act as little tags to dangle from something....anything!!!
I've got some samples to share tomorrow using the Simply Details new product line! Can't wait to share!

Before I start WOWSERS!!! Just want to thank all of you lovely ladies tonight for a fabulous demonstrator gathering (AKA Quarterly Meeting). It was SO nice to see so many smiling faces and to get some great ideas and see the BEAUTIFUL swaps! Next time I have to participate! Thank you for taking the time to check out my blog and for all the kind words shared tonight!
I also have to thank Sherri! GUESS WHAT????? Not only did she find BUT she actually shared a bag of COCONUT HERSHEY KISSES!!!! Can you believe it???? I'd given up hope! But tonight when I saw her in the parking lot she approached me with a sly little grin and VOILA!!!! I think I squeezed her a little hard! You'll all be glad to know that I have yet to eat the whole bag AND I actually shared a few!
OK, OK, time for the card! I LOVE Halloween and what would Halloween be without a card from Ghoul Friends? This set not making it into the catalogue was a definate tear jerker. I love this set but am embarassed to say it's the first time I've used the ghost.
Stamps: Hey Ghoul Friend (retired), Halloween Backgrounds (retired)
Colours: Basic Gray, Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White
Techniques: to get the effect on the edge of the white paper, I simply placed the ink pad on the edge of the paper. I saw this on a swap tonight and thought it looked cute. I inked up the edges of all the black card stock with my white craft ink. I stamped the ghost in full strength first and then masked him and didn't reink as I stamped the other two.
Here's the tutorial....do you notice the wavy edge.....not scalloped???? Well, I did this using my corner rounder and my ticket corner punch. Watch and I'll show you.....
Step #1. Take the black edges off of your ticket corner punch and your corner rounder. These come off easily by just gently pulling them like you would a wish bone in the turkey....just don't pull them to break them! This now allows you to punch freely rather than being restricted to only using them on a corner.
Step #2. I start with the corner rounder punch, but I'm sure either will work. I simply line up the punch on the edge of the paper so the pieces of metal that form the V both touch the paper. Make sure the edge of the punch is slightly over the edge of the paper so the scallop will not be wonky. Then punch away!
Step #3. Take your ticket corner punch and
line it up beside the scallop you just punched. When you line it up, you want to continue the already existing curve from the scallop so you create a smooth edge. Sometimes it took me two punches to be happy with the curve. Play around with it for a bit until you are pleased with the results.
Step #4. Continue by punching and alternating between the ticket punch and the corner rounder.
It is a bit more tedious than only using one punch but I am really happy with the outcome!
What do you think? Do you have any punch tricks???

I have to say that this is going to be probably the first Christmas that everyone will get a different Christmas card AND they'll actually be done on time!!! Thanks for making me craft and create!
This was a pretty quick and easy card using none other than Naughty or Nice (the chubby little Santa set). I simply stamped the ornaments at different levels, coloured them in using my watercolour crayons and an aqua painter, a gray marker for the metal clip and then used silver cording to hand the ornaments by. The glitter is done using Stickles....love the Stickles!! I prefer the blue ornament with the lines of glitter but I wanted the red ornaments to be different. Next time I may either do them the same or do dots. Of course there are the cool ice brads in the upper corner and then the greeting is stamped in Turquoise. Here's the formal recipe:
Stamps: Naughty or Nice, Warm Words
Colours: Real Red, Temp. Turq
Other: Silver Cording, Ice Brads, Stickles
Hope you had a FANTASTIC weekend! Can't wait to share some exciting news and projects with you later this week!!!

Well, can I say these past few days have been a complete whirlwind?!?! I "actually" had to work on Friday!!! For those of you that are not familiar with the Ontario Maternity Leave situation we actually get a full year off when we have a child (unlike some of my US friends with 6 weeks!!! Can't imagine!!!) Anyhow, my old boss asked if I would "work" on Friday and lead a professional development session for teachers which was fun but man am I tired!!! I forgot what a full day of standing on your feet and actually having a conversation with another adult really is like! OK, enough of my whining and on with the card.....
How sweet is this chubby little Santa??? I just look at him and think he's trying to hug me....do you get that same feeling? (In a good card loving kind of a way?) Anyhow, here's the recipe:
Stamps: Naughty or Nice, Priceless (for the fun silver swirls)
Colours: Real Red, Silver, Basic Black
Others: Pretties Brad, Oval Punch, LIQUID APPLIQUE....where you ask....on his beard and hat!!!
How fun is that???? I know it's hard to see in the picture but in person you can totally see the Dazzling Diamonds I sprinkled in the liquid applique before heating it. So how this stuff works is I squish it on the card (comes out sortof a yellow glue like substance) then I heat it with my embossing gun and VOILA a puffy white beard!!!! What do you think? This is the stuff I am ordering if you're interested from my friend Sheila!!!!
Oh yeah, I masked my Santa and then stamped the Priceless swirl in the silver ink behind Santa!
Hope you like! I'll check back in again tomorrow....sorry I've been a bit neglectful!

Can you believe it? It's not really 2 pockets!!! I needed a card today to send to my grandma so I thought I'd try a double pocket card.....one for a tag with a photo of the kids and the other tag for writing the message. I like simple and clean when it comes to Grandma and I thought this fall scrapbook paper fit the bill.
Before I start the tutorial here's the recipe:
Stamps: All in a Row, Baroque Motifs *just for Christie*
Colours: Old Olive, Soft Sky, Sahara Sand
Other: Fall Flowers SBP, Jumbo Pewter Eyelets, Library Clip, Tab Punch, Soft Sky Ribbon
Step #1. Cut your cardstock. The shell of the card is a basic 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 card, scored in the middle. The the inside "fake" pocket (which is really more like a divider) is 4 1/4 by 3 1/2.
Step #2. Line up your two pieces of cardstock together, the main card front and the insert.
Cut them on an angle using your paper cutter. By cutting them together you will get the exact angle so they will sit parallel in the card.
Step #3: Assemble the card by putting a thin piece of tape or your adhesive of choice on the left side of the divider. This lets it sit nicely in the card and hold. You don't need much as the jumbo eyelets will hold it in place from the other side.
Step #4. Finish off your card by decorating as you like. I used the jumbo eyelets to seal the card shut. The tags are 3 x 4 1/2 (notice the little library clip....too cute....from SU in the Holiday Mini)
Have yourself a wonderful day!

For those of you that have been around Stampin' Up! for a number of years now, you will remember Liquid Applique. We sold it I think 2 years ago and I haven't been able to find it since. BUT my dear friend Sheila at Scrappin' Great Deals has some on order!!!! If you're interested it's $3.98 a container and SUPER FUN!!! Here's a bit of information on it! If you'd like me to get you a bottle, leave me a comment on this post and I'll pick you up one!!!
Liquid Applique
Liquid applique is a great way to add a three-dimensional puffy look to your stamped art. Originally made for use on pre-washed fabric, it works very well on paper also. Liquid Applique puffs up on the paper after drying and heating. The fine tip on the tube makes it easy to apply even in the smallest areas. It can also be used to write a word, name or phrase. HOW TO USE LIQUID APPLIQUE:

Well, what a fun night I had tonight!!! I keep being told to learn how to use the word NO but I think I'll miss out on the fun if I say it! Tonight was a great example! I hosted a fundraiser at my kids' school and we made 6 cards and a little belly band to wrap around the cards. Well, I had a BLAST!!!! It was SO nice to chat with and see so many "playground" moms and to socialize with them without kids! I wanted to thank ALL of you for coming and I can't wait until the next one! A huge thank you also goes out to Laura and Carrie for all your help manning the tables and helping with the extra cards....thanks! Here's what we made:

First off, thanks Carolyn, Gerrie, Susan, Caron, Sonia and Carol for a GREAT class tonight! We missed you Dale, Diana and Sherry at our Contain Yourself class. I had such a great time tonight and I hope you enjoyed your projects! So for tonight's tutorial I decided to do a mini little bag like we did at our class tonight in the Halloween theme(thanks Caron for the idea!!!)
Supplies for this project: 6x6 sheet of scrapbook paper, hole punch, ribbon, scallop punch, circle punches, Batty for You
This bag is the PERFECT size for the YUMMY Halloween candy bars (I don't have any to show in this picture because they are not allowed in my house until the day before Halloween as I will eat them ALL!!!!)
Step #1. With the good side of the scrapbook paper facing down, score and fold an edge at 1/2 inch. (For the larger bag using a full 12x12 sheet, score at 1 inch)
Step #2. Glue these scored edges down so they lay flat. This creates the inside edge to your little package and finishes it off nicely.
Step #3. On the opposite edges score a line at 1 3/4 inches. When folded it looks like the picture to the left. Remember, this is on the OPPOSITE edge to the ones you just creased and glued down. Now that you have scored the correct edge, glue the seam together so you create a sleeve as shown.
Step #4. Score the package at 2 1/2 inches. Now fold the package so the seam faces OUT....yes, I know it looks yucky now but it'll get better!!!
Step #5. Score a line on EACH side of this crease you just made at 3/8 of an inch. Remember to do this on BOTH sides. Now fold these creases so you make the letter W. This hides the yucky creases and your bag is just about complete!
Step #6. Put a little bit of adhesive between your two layers to hold the purse closed. This allows the purse to "stand" up on it's own. Then punch some holes in the outside layers, tie ribbon on, embellish and you're done!!! Quick and easy and lots of fun!
If you're making this with 12x12 here are the modifications:
Step #1: Score at 1 inch
Step #2: The same.
Step #3: Score at 3 1/2 inches
Step #4: Score the package at 5 1/2 inches
Step #5: Score at 3/4 of an inch
Step #6: The same.

I really like the 'natural' look of the Kraft and thought this month for our scrappers 6 that I'd combine Kraft paper and the amazing Dashing scrapbook paper together. I hate showing pages without pictures on them BUT I am excited to think that all I need to do is snap some shots this year and my pages will be done!!! I'll try and remember to show the page later in life once I put the pictures on them. I am going to put a photo on the super cute ornament that I totally cased from my friend Barb. I used my Marvy Circle Punch (it's the same size as one of the Coluzzle options) to make the ball and then the tab punch to make the ornament holder piece. I added some extra "bling" by putting the star on top of this. All of the paper is edges with Close to Cocoa ink, just applied directly to the paper.
Stamps: Many Merry Messages
Colours: Kraft, Close to Cocoa, Real Red, Old Olive
Other: Chocolate Chip marker (for the hand drawn border around the page, photo and ornament), Dashing paper cut to 3/8 strips, Star punch, Vintage Brads and Hodge Podge
Have yourself a Merry Little Day!!!

Back to the favourite.....All in the Family stamp set.....have you missed this one??? Well, we went to Port Huron yesterday and ended up getting the kids' their Halloween cards so I was "in the Halloween mood" when we got back so I made Nathan a Happy First Halloween card (don't we all need one of those???) Actually, I really like to make my kids cards and then either include them on scrapbook pages or file them away for later in life. I still have cards from when I was a little girl (I think I have cards from when I was 5 still from my best friend growing up Shannon Brown!) I LOVE going back and looking at them and 'remembering'. ANYHOW, to the card.......
Colours: Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black, Whisper White, White Craft Ink around the edge of the card
Other: Creepy Crawly Paper, Scallop Punch, Circle Punches, Dots and Dashes Ribbon, markers for the baby colouring, pop dots, black brads
So, this card took a bit of masking to make. First I used the black marker and coloured the legs and feet of the baby on the baby stamp. Stamped it on the white paper. Then I inked up the pumpkin using the marker (the pumpkin is from the Family Accessories). I used the marker so you don't see the stem of the pumpkin. Then I inked up the baby's head in black and stamped it on. I used the "big" arms in the family set to make the little guy's arms. I just masked them off though as they are really long. It's a lot of steps but sure makes a cute little HAPPY HALLOWEEN card for all the first Halloween babies out there!
Here's a recent picture of my not so little munchkin! Can you believe he is 6 months old??? Where has the time gone??? He's just so pleased with himself now that he's sitting. He LOVES the grass and does a better job than the lawn mower!
Oh, in case you're just dying to know what my munchkins are going to be for Halloween....Mark is going to be a Pittsburg Steelers Football Player, as is Nathan and Emma is a Steeler's cheerleader!!! Can you tell that Adam had some influence over this decision???? Have a great day!

I'm going to vent here for a moment.....we decided to switch from Bell to Rogers as we could "bundle" our services and in doing so Rogers said that we wouldn't have any problems if there were ever to be a power outage. Well, last night the power went out and we were without cable, phone and internet!!! So therefore no post as it took about 18 hours to fix!!!! OK, I'm done venting, really I'm back on line, I've got some more information on my fundraiser and will try and post some pictures tonight! Here goes:
WOW! I am getting quite excited about the fundraiser at the end of this month! I have had lots of help from many friends (THANK YOU) and now have 630 projects bagged and ready to go!!! Just over half way there…… Thank you to all of you that are supporting this fun event and good cause, because of you we are all making a difference! Here is an updated list of attendees, kits and payments. I am fully expecting I have made a mistake, missed someone or mixed up payment as it’s challenging having 104 people to sort though…..so if you are one of the lucky ones please email me privately so I can make sure you’re on the list or correct my information! I will be emailing out and also posting maps to Kings College

Are you sick of reading that I love punches, well I tell you....I LOVE THEM!!!! I use them ALL the time and am just amazed at their magic! If they could take out the garbage....Adam would have some serious competition:) So seriously, Dale emailed me this link to a VERY AMAZING card all made with punches click here to see the card. Sarah has the coolest card and came out with a Halloween themed card with very little stamping and all punching. So I have completely cased it BUT I added on to it and came up with a punched bat and a tutorial to go along with it!!!! So, here's the project....
This is a little Halloween treat holder. When I was at Laura's
the other night this was a little creation inside the Paper Crafts magazine with no instructions or dimensions. So, I played around and came up with a modified version and what better holiday to create for than Halloween??? Here's a run down on the punches:
Moon - punch out a full circle using your circle punch and then using the same punch take out a little piece
Ghosts - large and small oval and then draw on the faces
Pumpkins - one large circle and then two smaller circles for behind them. I drew on the faces as I don't have the Carved and Candlelight set with the cute pumpkin faces
Tombstones - the two sizes of tab punches, sponged and then two of them have Happy Halloween stamped on it
Colours: Pumpkin Pie, Summer Sun, Basic Black, Basic Gray, Whisper White
Are you just dying to figure out how I made the cute little bats hanging around the box out of SU punches???? (I really wanted to go to Michaels and buy the Martha Stewart bat punch but I ended up driving to Barrie to day .... there and back before I had to get the kids from school...long story ANYHOW I couldn't buy it so I created it and am really happy!) Here goes:
Step #1. Gather your supplies. You'll need one of the circle punches (I used the 1 3/8), the ticket corner punch, word window punch, basic black cardstock. Take the guide off the ticket punch and punch out a scalloped edge on your black paper as shown.
Step #2.
Center the scallops inside the circle punch so they are evenly spread apart. Punch the circle so you are using about 1/3 of the circle for the bats wings. I found the 1 3/8 worked well as 4 scallops fit almost perfectly.
Step #3. Using the same ticket corner punch, only punch one scallop out of the black paper. This is going to create the ears for this little guy.
Step #4. Using the word window punch, punch out the bat's body. Center it around the scallop so the ears will show and cut it to the length you'd like the body to be so you have a nice curved bottom edge as well. I think my bodies are about 3/4 of an inch long if that helps.
Step #5. Attach your bodies together. I put a bit of Crystal Effects between the layers and then put a piece of wire in between as well so they could be flying above the little box!
These are REALLY quick to make and I think they turned out kindof cute! Thanks for looking and have a SPOOKTACULAR night (it's quite pathetic how I can make myself laugh!!!)

My friend's birthday was yesterday (better late than never, right?!?!) and I wanted to make a little something for her to let her know I was thinking of her. So I decided to make up a little package of cards using the True Friend stamp set. Here's what I came up with:
These cards are all made with Really Rust (I know, not a colour I use very often but beautiful!), Mellow Moss, Chocolate Chip and some River Rock. The stamp set is True Friend from the Holiday Mini catalogue. I was thrilled with the way the cards turned out and I simply stacked them up and tied around a piece of River Rock ribbon (of course which can be reused for cards!) as a little token gesture. It's difficult to see but I did stamp my canvas background in Close to Cocoa inked off on the two top cards behind the main images as well. What do you think?

I'll appologize now that I haven't posted any pictures yet today....the day isn't over yet though(although it's highly unlikely I'll get around to it still tonight!) ANYHOW, the reason for my email....my neighbour's daughter, Carlie, has a school fundraiser on right now selling magazine subscriptions for VERY reduced rates! I was so EXCITED that this year they are offering the Paper Crafts Magazine subscription for only $28!!!!! That's AMAZING!!! I can admit I'm an idiot and only ever buy it from Chapters each month thinking I won't buy it the next month...and I do! SO, I've decided to spoil myself and get a subscription to what I think is the best paper crafting/stamping/scrapping/creative magazine out there! The reason I'm putting this on my blog is if you are local and interested in getting this subscription, let me know and I can hook you up with this great deal!
Have a great night!
