Well hello! Can I say "it's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!!!!" How much did I love reading your blog entries???? Thanks so much for sharing your Christmas traditions, recipes and memories! I have given mine a lot of thought and truly can't come up with just one memory so here are a few traditions around our house:
....my grandma's shortbread cookies....it isn't Christmas without them! My brother, David, and I hide them, steal them and devour every last crumb! Now that we have kids we get more cookies that yes, we're supposed to share and I have to say....I don't do a very good job at sharing them!!!
...I love Adam's family's tradition of making an ornament every year for the kids. Not only that but each year Adam's dad gets an ornament for the kids and I just LOVE the thought of their first Christmas tree being decorated with all their ornaments from their past. I have a few from when I was a kid but not nearly the collection that Adam has.
...again, an Adam tradition, we have to have a real tree. Love the experience of picking THE tree, chopping it down and bringing it home (although last year wasn't the most fun....or the biggest tree we've ever gotten!!!)
There are so many things that bring a smile to my face! I guess the best is just spending time with all my family and relaxing and having no schedule!
Enough of my babbling....my blog candy winner is....SUSAN GIRLING!!!! Here's what Susan had to say:
I just love Christmas. My favourite Christmas tradition was posted by my sister Brenda B., except I do remember when this tradition started - I was about 10 years old. So I have to say my second favourite Christmas tradition which I have carried on with my kids is cutting down our Christmas tree. Every year my sister, Sheila and her family and mine along with my dad (he likes to deliver the trees) go to a place where you take a tractor ride out to the bush to look for the perfect tree. After carefully selecting our trees we have a cup of hot chocolate or hot apple cider to warm ourselves up. I just love the smell of a real tree in the house. Now I'm in the mood to go Christmas shopping!
Thanks for posting, Susan I'll get you my blog candy next time I see you...hopefully soon!!!
Here's a card we did last month at my stamp club. Our techniques were paper piecing, masking and glitter.
Colours: River Rock, Basic Black, Real Red
Other: Word Window Punch, Two Way Glue, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, Eyelets, Red Grosgrain, Blender Pen and Ink, Dashing Paper
I thought this would make a cute invitation to a Christmas gathering (that we are all now in the mood for!!!)
Have a GREAT back to school day!!! My kids are SO excited (I have to admit, I' m ready as well!) Thanks for stopping by!
