Here is one of the projects I was working on at the cottage.  I saw this paper at the Scrapbook Studio and instantly fell in love.  I thought it was SO cute and would make a perfect baby tin.  I made one of these for myself when I was pregnant with Nathan and I have to say it worked out great!  Inside the tin are 14 dividers, one for pregnancy, one for the big day and then the rest are for each month for the first year.  The point is it's a quick place to keep important pieces of information, marking down the "big first days" and also somewhere I can throw photos people give me or little tags or messages.  Anyhow, it has definately helped keep Nathan's stuff organized so I thought I'd make another one.  This is one thing that I'll have for sale at my fundraiser of course with all proceeds going to Cancer Research. 

I used the True Thyme and Elegant Eggplant colour combination with the scrapbook paper.  I have lots of the True Thyme ribbon left and thought this corresponded well.  I wrapped the paper around the trim around the lid as well as all over the top of  the tin.  The flowers on the front are from Memory Makers and there is a big antique brad in the centre of them.  I LOVE these flowers and they aren't too expensive either!

I cut the tag out using my Sizzix (which by the way is still for sale if interested!).  I LOVE this die cut.  The tag has some antique brads on it and I simply printed the words off on the computer on White Confetti paper.  The faux stitching is just done with a gel pen.

This is the inside of the tin.  I lined the lid with the super cute giraffe paper.  Inside are 6 thank you cards that correspond with the paper.  There are also the 14 dividers in the Elegant Eggplant and True Thyme colour combination.  If the person who purchases this tin wants, I would write Pregnancy, The Big Day, 1 Month, 2 Months etc. on all the tabs in white gel pen.

Here are the thank  you cards and matching envelopes.  They are fairly simple and gender neutral.  They use my FAVOURITE stamp ever that retired (many thanks....pathetic I know but I love the font!)

  Here are the dividers for inside the tin.  Gotta love how the giraffe from the stamp set Bundle of Joy matches with the paper.

So Lucky and Blog Candy

How fantastic are all of you???? Yes, all of you that are reading my blog, supporting my fundraiser and making such lovely comments.....thank you!!!  We got back from the cottage late this afternoon, somewhat bittersweet.  My most favourite place on earth (even more than Newfoundland) has got to be the cottage up in the Muskokas.  My grandma and grandpa built it with another couple over 30 years ago and there hasn't been a summer I haven't been up there enjoying it and making happy memories!  Enough about me.....

#1.  My FUNDRAISER!!!!  WOW, what an amazing response!  I am half way there already and don't even have the projects all posted...you guys are too much!!!  I have had a few questions that I'll answer here in case you are wondering.  If you live in Canada, I will ship for free.  If you are in the US, I'll split the shipping with you if you'd like to order a kit.  A kit will come with all the supplies needed, pre stamped images, an email with the colour pictures and instructions/dimensions and you will also be entered in the door prizes!!!!  I live in London Ontario for those of you that would like to make the drive!  I'm hoping for a fun and festive day!!!

#2.  I will respond to emails tonight once the kids are in bed, sorry I've been neglecting them!  Dial up at the cottage was even SLOWER than usual so I didn't check while I was away after doing two emails!!!

Gotta Love Boxes

So, here I am at the cottage again, having way too much fun!  The weather is great, the kids are having fun and I'm actually getting some time to stamp!  I will post some projects a little later on that though!  For today I thought I'd share the box we made at our Garden Whimsy preorder class.  Thanks by the way to all that came on Thursday night, I had a blast!  I will be sending out the instructions just as soon as I figure out how to "draw" a template on the computer.

Sorry the picture is so bad, I took it at night so I thought I'd spruce it up by adding the crazy edge!

Anyhow, this box held 4 3x3 mini cards.  I am happy with the final outcome.  I love how people at my class also switched the paper up a bit and used the other side of the Cutie Pie Paper.  They all turned out so well!

Wish

I want to take a quick second to thank all of my lovely ladies that came to the Garden Whimsy Class on Thursday night!  I am so lucky to have such a wonderful group of ladies!  Thank you !!!  Here is one of the cards we made on Thursday.  We used a lot of Cutie Pie Paper (which is just so Cute!) but I thought rather than going bright with the Pomegranate I'd use Black to contrast this paper.  Let me know what you think!

Sorry the picture isn't the greatest as I took the pictures at night.  They'll get better once I figure this whole lighting thing out!!!  Suggestions are welcome!!!

Crab & Company

Not sure if you know this yet or not but this ADORABLE set is actually going to be in the January - June SU catalogue SO if you missed it the first time around you'll have a second chance! 

I made this for my neighbour next door.  I'm not sure about you but I have THE BEST neighbours in the entire world!  They are so kind and so loving and enjoy the kids and are just truly genuine folks that we just adore.  Anyhow, it was Roy's birthday the other day and we came to the question of what do you get him as a gesture of our friendship and both of my kids said CHOCOLATE!!!  So off we went and picked out far too many types of chocolates!  And this is how we 'wrapped' them up....just using a little belly band.  So this is the card and the one package we gave him for his birthday.

Cleaning Up

OK, so my stamping room is getting a little bit, how shall we say it.....full!!!  So, I've decided to start purging (of course to reinvest in new things!!!)  I am selling my Sizzix machine because I really want the Cuttlebug machine.  I know you must be saying, why would I buy a Sizzix if Heather is selling it for something different.  Well, it all started with a little Funky Chicken Quickcut that is so freaking cute I just had to have it.  BUT  you can't easily cut it using a Sizzix machine.  So I thought if I sold my old machine and some of the die cuts I don't use I can get the Cuttlebug (which is more expensive) and then I can use it for everything!  Does that make sense....Adam doesn't see my logic but the bottom line is I'm selling the following stuff as a package:

Another Merry and Bright

Merry and Bright!

How stinkin' cute is this stamp set????  This card took a bit of time but I am thrilled with the result!  I had to do a bit of masking to get the reindeer lined up together.  I got the idea of the reins by a card on splitcoaststampers but I altered it a bit by having two rows of reindeer.  I punched the paper for Rudolph's nose using the 1/8 circle punch and it shows the red paper from underneath.  I then masked the reindeer off and squished my Versamark at the bottom of the card and then used the Irredescent Ice embossing powder to look like snow.  Love the wide Red ribbon, I wasn't sure if it would be too thick for a card but I think it works.

Here is a close up of the reindeer and the threading of the gold cording and Rudolph's nose.

Priceless

I love how whimsical and soft this stamp set is.  It is very versatile and can be stamped using soft/subtle colours or bold/bright colours!  (sounds like SU colour families....)  Anyhow, this card is made using scrapbook paper from the Le Jardin package of paper.  I then added the little border on the right side by layering some card stock and stamping on it using the Artichoke and the whimsical background.  The colours on the card are Soft Sky, Always Artchoke and Chocolate Chip.  The ribbon is actually from last year's catalogue and is the True Thyme ribbon.  This layout is cased from a card on SCS and I truly appologize, I'm not sure where I originally saw it.  If you're the creator, please let me know so I can give you the credit you deserve!

This second card is made using Purely Pomegranate, Certainly Celery and So Saffron.  There are a lot of layers on the card and I almost added one more but thougth I should stop!  I like using the swirly whimsical stamp to look like the path of the fluttery butterfly.  There is also celery ribbon on this card.  The priceless is punched out using the bigger oval punch from SU and then the layer is put on using the pop dots.

A Creative Journal

My friend Sonia (and can I mention she is also an enabler!!!) is so great!  She has signed up to be a Stampin' Up hobbiest (aren't we all!?!)  I think she was a bit nervous and anxious about her first venture the other night so I made her this little journal for her to jot down her ideas/layouts/inspirations when she is out and about.  She is FULL of some oberlicious (how do you like that word???) talent!  She crafts with her four kids all the time and then they do a Christmas craft show together!  They are amazing, oh yeah, and her husband cuts stuff out for her too!!!  Anyhow, once she has her crafting site up I'll definately be firing off a link, but in the meantime here's her journal.  It's made using the Primary Scrappin' Kit which is SO fun and bright!

I also made this little box for the journal to fit into to.  The journal is the SU 5x5 chipboard journal.  To save time to make this (sorry, I cut a corner) I only scrapped up until the coils rather than using my coil punch to get the paper in between.  So I COVERED the coils with ribbon and you can't even tell.  The main colours on the book and package are Real Red, More Mustart, Bayou Blue and Wild Wasabi. 

I made up the box, very simple with the fold down flap and then a belly band to go around the box.  It is made with the SU textured cardstock which is so great and then of course a bit of faux stitching a smidge of ribbon and it was done.

You can see the belly band here in this picture.  Unfortunately the box is more than 12 inches around so I had to piece together the belly band.

This is just a shot of the back of the package.  I attached the flap using some basic brads....and oh yeah, Gerrie, I used my Crop-o-dile...very nice!  I thought of you when doing it!!!  Hope you enjoy the book and box!

Some more inspiration

For those of you that know me, you know I'm always up for a challenge.  And I'm not sure that anyone challenges me more than my fabulous friend and upline Alicia!  She always "makes me do my best" (sounds so motherly but in such a kind way!).  So, I'm trying to figure out if she's trying to stump me or if in fact she just thinks Nathan is the sweetest and likes to buy him clothes!!!  Anyhow, as a thank you she got me an outfit (and isn't is SOOOOO cute???) for my little guy.  Of course the motive isn't just to see Nathan in a super cute outfit BUT to see a card that resembles it.  So this was my mission tonight!  I have to say that I'm happy with the background and the foreground is okay but I really need to find a couple more cute dog stamps....I should look at the new one in our catalogue.

Here is the card inspired by the outfit (sorry my photos aren't the best) I much prefer taking the pictures during the day.  I used Chocolate Chip, Creamy Caramel and Bayou Blue.  The ribbon is our new Double Stitched Bayou Blue and some HodgePodge.  I stamped the greeting in Bayou Blue and then traced over it using the Creamy Caramel marker.  I added some fun stitching lines on the dogs and the words.  This of course is made with the Ruff Day set that I LOVE!!!  Hope you like it!!!  Keep sending me inspirational ideas, you never know what you may create!!!

Mark's Book

It has been a bit of a struggle getting Mark to practise his printing this summer so I thought I'd make him a special little book to use.  He LOVES it!!!  I made the book out of 8 1/2 by 11 paper and simply cut it in half length wise.  It is held together using the Bind It All coil machine (too fun!!!)  I used the SUPER cute scrapbook kit Simply Primary (I may be making up that name...I do it a lot!) to help with the decorating. 

The photo corners were in the kit and then I embellished them with the brads.  The star is from our On Board Accents.  The book is also made with the textured cardstock.  The borders along the bottom are also from the scrapping kit.  I will tie more ribbon on the metal coils after Mark is done making his booklet.  The idea of this book is for Mark to write down a summer memory and then when he is done the book his top ten memories will be written about and he'll draw a corresponding picture.

Today's page he wrote "I cot 2 Snakes".  He's sounding out his words and is so excited about his work!  I have to say it is pretty cute!

When he is done the booklet I'm going to make a little pouch in the front of his scrapbook from this year and it will be there for him to look back at year after year.

Scrappers 6

I've got my Scrappers 6 club over tomorrow night.  I have to say Scrappers 6 are the greatest classes because I actually get my scrapbooking done as well!  It's great....thanks for making me do it!!  Sorry these photos aren't the greatest, I kept getting shadows standing over them taking pictures and I didn't have time to retake them today. 

These pages are made using the Cutie Pie paper, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, So Saffron and Purely Pomgranate.  I did the border around the pictures using a 1/8 hole punch.  I know it's hard to see but I also journaled all around the photos on the yellow paper using my white gel pen.  On the right hand page, I created a collage using either 2x2 or 2x4 pictures to fill the space.  It is a great way to summarize a holiday.  I am really loving the pages of my neices and nephew and kids at the cottage (except there isn't a single photo of my SIL or me!)

***Just a note about my clipboard class....if you are intersted in this class and would like to make a Christmas themed clipboard this is definately an option!  The cost is the same but it will be made wiht the Dots and Dashes papers and of course FUN CHRISTMAS stuff!!!  Email me if interested!  Thanks!

Halloween is Coming!

I LOVE Halloween!  I love this idea of an advent calendar that I've seen on other blogs so I thought I'd modify to my taste and style and now offer it as a class!  I am SO thrilled with the way this project turned out.

I am offering this as a class on September 10th from 7 to 9.  The cost of the class is $40.  You will get a full package of the Halloween double sided scrapbook paper($13.50) and a 9x9 clipboard ($10.95) and all the supplies to make this cute countdown to Halloween!  I am also offering it as a kit if you are interested in creating this clipboard! I will of course include colour instructions to help(Free shipping in Canada)

You are able to make MANY clipboards out of one package of scrapbook paper (at least 10!) if you want!!!  If you are interested in making many of these clipboards for every extra clipboard you purchase I will provide the additional supplies needed to make the clipboard (ex. stamp the word BOO, the bats, the spiders, the numbers....)

You will make enough numbers to countdown starting on October 1st.  (you'll have 2 ones and 2 twos).  You will be given an assortment of ribbon for the tags.  Each number also has a magnet on the back to display on the clipboard.

The colours in this scrapbook paper are Pumpkin Pie, More Mustard, Really Rust, Basic Black and Whisper White.  I printed the "Days Until Halloween" on the computer.  I also used the crop-o-dile to do the dry embossing on the bottom of the orange sheet of pape under the numbers (Remember you can click to enlarge pictures to see the details closer.)

I LOVE the Outline Alphabet.  I stamped the Really Rust paper with the Polka Dots from Polka Dots and Paisley stamp set.  Then I stamped the letters BOO, cut them out and mounted them on black paper.

As promised

As promised here is the scrapbook page I did of Nathan with the photo from the other day.  I absolutely love the picture and wanted a simple layout for it.  I wrote Nathan a message that someday hopefully he'll enjoy reading and it will offer some insight to him and our family.

I used three of the pages from the Le Jardin scrapbook paper kit.  It is not my usual style but boy oh boy is it ever pretty!  I really like this set of papers.  The background is the striped paper and then I simply added a 3 inch strip of the blue paper and a 2.5 inch strip of the leaves at the top.  I stamped the flower image from Priceless on the bottom of my journaling in River Rock and added a few embellishments from the Pretties Kit.  I sponged on the flowers for a soft colour (River Rock on the outside two and Soft Sky on the inside flower). 

The picture is a 5x7 image as well.  I typed up my journaling (of course spell checking unlike my last page's title....) in Word and then printed it off on our Whisper White Cardstock.  Overall I am very happy with this very simple, and elegant page. 

If you ever want to see a photo closer up, simply click on the picture and it'll go bigger for you....might be worth it for this page, my picture doesn't entirely do it justice!  Have a great, sunny day!

How Exciting!!!

So I have yet to leave the house today....too much laundry and house stuff to do I guess!  Actually I'm quite thrilled to be having a bit of a down day, just hanging out and getting  a bit of stamping done!  I had five boxes from SU waiting for me when we got home from the cottage and in one of them were my preorder sets from the new holiday mini which comes out September 1st.  Well, guess what?!?!  The stamps in this mini are laser cut for you!!!!  NO CUTTING!!!  Here's what it looks like:

Seriously....how GREAT is that???  They are VERY nicely trimmed up and ready to put on the blocks!  I'm not throwing out the backings just yet because I'm sure there will be a very fun use for them....I'll let you know when I figure that out!

Here are a few projects I made today using this SUPER CUTE new set called Merry and Bright (and it's only $20.95)  I will DEFINATELY be doing a preorder class for this set in September so keep that in mind!

I originally got this idea from my great friend Roxy (Corinne) which she got from Katy....click here to get to Katy's blog (it's GREAT!!!)  I think this is a great idea for a little hostess gift or even for my kids to make and share with their friends.  Inside the Snowman seeds I am going to have Tic Tacs (white of course) and inside the Reindeer Seeds I'm thinking I'll to the oatmeal and glitter combo and include the little poem on the back.

This little seed packet is made with the Dots and Dashing Scrapbook Paper.  I modified Katy's packet labels because I wanted a bit more of the scrapbook paper to show so I made it shorter and wider.  It closes using the old library envelope twisty twine closure (I really think that's what it's called!)  This way it is resealable and reusable if people wanted to do this.  I coloured in the little chubby snowman with River Rock, Old Olive and Real Red.

Again, this package is made with the Dots and Dashing paper and closes the same way.  I coloured the reindeer in using Close to Cocoa.

Thanks for the emails and comments while I've been away!  We had a fantastic time at the cottage and am glad to be home....lots to scrapbook!!!  I've emailed my photos away so I can finish off the pages I did tonight and post tomorrow with some updated pictures!  Here's one of the photos being scrapped:

Treasure Island!

I love to scrapbook and look back at a page and remember the moment.  This was such a fun adventure at the cottage.  I took the boys to the islands for "an adventure" and little did I know we end up finding a flag and bones!  The boys were THRILLED!!!  So of course I had to scrapbook the page.  BUT, in all my excitement I ended up spelling the title wrong.....tresure instead of treasure!!!  I'm a nut bar!  But I've since fixed the page by stamping the letter A using Alphadots and I made it look like a gold coin for treasure.  I'm okay with the fix but it's a warning to not scrapbook too late into the night....have you done something like this???

I still have 3 more spots left in the $45.50 special (check out my last post if interested!) Priceless is a very versatile and fun set to use. I’d have to say I like the swirly backgrounds the best. I’m sorry that I haven’t posted in a few days, we’ve been having too much fun at the cottage with the family and the library just seems so far away to go and make posts at! So, I thought I’d give you four cards to look at today. I had a stamping morning and tried out my new set Priceless with the limited supplies I brought to the cottage.

This first card is for my Grandma as a thank you for letting us use the cottage for a week with Adam’s family.  It is made with Bashful Blue and Purely Pomegranate paper and ink.  I stamped the images in the corresponding colours as well.  I stamped the butterflies in the Pomegranate ink directly on the white paper and then again on scrap paper and cut them out to look like fluttering butterflies.  The ribbon is the new double stitched In Colour Ribbon.

Adam isn’t a big fan of this card and thinks it needs more at the top but I like the simplicity of it.  It is made with Certainly Celery and Purely Pomegranate.  The stamped images are popped up on the bottom corner above the ribbon. 

I’m not sure what I think about this card.  It’s made with Soft Sky Paper, Bayou Blue, and Pumpkin Pie.  The trail of the butterfly is drawn with Pumpkin Pie marker (the dots) and Bashful Blue marker (the little x’s).  I am going to make a series of cards using this set to go with my Grandma’s thank you card.

The last picture is of the technique book I made for my new stampers 6 group.  Each month we will insert a page into the book outlining a new trick or technique.  This book is made with Purely Pomegranate, Wild Wasabi and Bayou Blue.  All the images are from Priceless.

Wish

Make a wish....I love how this little snail can look like he is writing a message with his trail.  In some ways this is a very simple card and in other ways it is a bit busy.  I've used the Cutie Pie Paper (again....I know!!!  At least I'm using different pieces of it!)  I stamped the snail in River Rock ink and then using the SAMJ I lined up the word wish then just did a bit of faux stitching around the edge.   I think this layout was a challenge on Splitcoast this past weekend (I'm still not sure how these challenges work or even how to see them so if you know, fill me in!)  I saw this layout on a bunch of blogs and thought I'd give it a shot.
