If you are a regular on Splitcoaststampers you'll know the name BEATE!!! And if you're not she is a fantastically talented and creative stamper that inspires so many of us to keep creating and trying new things(thanks!!!) She posted a challenge on her blog (CLICK HERE) to try a new layout for a card. So, I created three cards for this challenge.
The first card is done using the Bold Butterfly stamp set (which is retiring!) and the new scrapbook paper. I stamped the butterfly in Black on the scrapbook paper and cut it out. The white circle was stamped with Aida cloth using Rose Red. The butterfly trail was done freehand and because I made a mistake on the Prima flower I actually put it on the card backwards and LOVE how it sticks out.
The second card was done with my oh so favourite set, Doodle This and of course using Pretty in Pink and Close to Cocoa. The ribbon is from Michael's and the gem brad is from Creative Express (just wait....Stampin' Up! has some BEAUTIFUL gem brads coming in the new catalogue!!!) I markered the pink on the cream paper and did a bunch of sponging.
My final card is somewhat of a modified sketch creation. I made it into a three fold card using the same template and layout. When you lift the first flap, on the brown layer is more doodling and a nice quote about being a friend and then this opens up to the inside of the card. The colours on this card are Sage Shadow, Close to Cocoa and Pretty in Pink. I used Doodle This and Big Blooms (both from the Spring Mini). Hope you enjoy!
Let me know which one is your favourite!
In answer to your question, Yvette, the curves were actually cut with the Creative Memories wavy cutter. It's like a Fiskars cutting system but rather than a straight track there is a very wavy one and then a less wavy one. I have used the SU cutting tool to do curves as well but since I was layering and doing a few cards I opted for the Creative Memories one.

You hinted at a SU item that would cut the wave. What is that item?
Thank you, JudyOR

I really like them all, but my favourite would be the bold butterfly, as I really love that set. What a great layout for a card. Thanks.

I really like all of these, but I think the second one is my favourite. (I love that set, too... hope it stays!!) I really like the coloured in part of the swirly stamp. It makes it look like scrapbook paper, and not just a stamp. (not that just a stamp is bad, I just like it coloured in) I'll have to try that!

I think I like the last one the best but all 3 are great! Did you cut the curves freehand?
