I saw a card similar to this on Splitcoaststampers and thought I'd put my own twist to it. I haven't used my dry embossing supplies for some time so I thought I'd pull them out and share with you some tips/tricks on dry embossing.
All supplies used for this card are Stampin' Up!
Paper: Taken with Teal, Cool Caribbean, Whisper White
Ink: Basic Black, Taken with Teal, White Gel Pen
Supplies: Very Punny Sell-a-bration stamp, silver brads, circle punches, Seeing Spots embossing template, stylus for embossing, Crystal Effects(hard to see in the picture but they are on the little bubbles and on the smallest embossed bubbles)
Steps to making this card:
1. Cut and attach the scrapbook paper.
2. Dry emboss the circles on the page being careful not to emboss as low as the scrapbook paper.
3. Create faux stitched ribbon with paper and gel pen.
4. Attach layers, apply crystal effects and put on brads.
Here are a few things to remember:
1. The front of the paper is the side that you put face down on the stencil. You will trace on the back of the paper and this is what will make your paper "pop" out.
2. You only have to trace the edge of the open design, the center does not need to be traced in. For example, to get the circles on my card, I only trace the outside of the circle and this will cause the entire circle to "pop" out.
3. If you are having difficulty with your stylus slipping or sticking on your paper, rub it with waxed paper. This will help make the stylus glide easily.
4. Ideally, having a light table works, but for those of you that are like me and don't have one, I simply dry emboss using a window. I put the stencil on my window first, then the card stock on top so you can 'see through' the paper and then trace around the stencil.
5. I really like the stylus avaialable through Stampin' Up! The bigger the stylus head you can use the less likely it is that your paper will tear while tracing around the stencil.
